Yeah, well, I, along with a million others, won't be traveling to Indonesia any time soon.

Yeah, well, I, along with a million others, won't be traveling to Indonesia any time soon.

I thought that should be "billions", but that's true of most any place.

Don't see what all the fuss is about.

Despite being painted as latter-day incarnations of Mother Teresa, these two clowns when to Indonesia with the express purpose of trying to import into Australia a large amount of heroin. Furthermore, they stood-over other young Australians to get them to work as drug mules. And now you want a pardon? Anyone who has ever been to Indonesia knows that the country doesn't take a soft line on drugs. All you have to do is work through an airport and see those signs, in 10-foot high text that warn you of the consequences. While I feel for the other young Australians who got caught up in this loony drug importation plan, the two ringleaders should face the music. Who are we to tell the Indonesians that capital punishment is wrong? I haven't seen the western press wrought with angst when third-world criminals have been executed in Indonesia.

Moreover, the next time a junkie dies on the streets of Sydney, do you think that their death will get wall-to-wall coverage? Will Abbott and other politicians stand around for the candle light vigil then?

Didn't the Australian police pass on information to Indonesia authorities that led to their arrests?

If so, this vigil is strange.

Didn't the Australian police pass on information to Indonesia authorities that led to their arrests?

The Australian Federal Police knew in advance yet they did nothing to stop them despite knowing Indonesia imposes the death penalty. One of the fathers of the group actually told the police what his son was doing yet they were allowed to continue. While these kids were fools for doing what they did, you have to question were the loyalties of the Australian Federal Police lie....

Not all blame lies with Indonesia on this one.

Not all blame lies with Indonesia on this one.

Indonesia? Blame? For what? Enforcing their own well-known laws?

@HongoTAFEinmate

Well said, exactly right.

Moral of the story is don't go to Indonesia.

Indonesia? Blame? For what?

Back in 2002, many Aussie tourists were killed in Bali bombing. Not all terrorists were severely punished. Some former terrorists are still free as birds on the streets of Bali. Aussie did not blame for freeing murderers on the streets.

Enforcing their own well-known laws?

Indonesia well-known law is corrupted with bias. They have double standard for asking clemency for their citizens. In the past, Aussie journalists and tourists were murdered there. However Most Aussie have forgiven murderers. They even contributed Bali economy and natural disaster relief for Indonesia.

Singapore executed Aussie drug smuggler before. Singapore is many times richer and have more military toys than Indonesia. However they did show off fighter jets and Armor carrier to media.

Executing two men do not need to show off the military prowess. Two bullets or two piece of ropes are sufficient. Indonesia is intimidating the small Australia. US navy seal only used only handful of service men for killing Osama Bin Laden.

Australia needs to realize that their generous aids have been spent on military hardware by Indonesia government. Not for intended purpose of education, infrastructure and poverty relief.

The moral of the story is Indonesia is a fair weather friend. With booming economy and showing off military hardware to the media is over reaction.
