I think its time we stop valuing Trump, Abe, and this Australian bloke.

In Australia's case, I think if people are having to abide by certain restrictions because of the coronavirus, everybody should have to follow the law. No exceptions.

Many people who would have been sympathetic to the demostrations have been put off by the blatant disregard for social distancing.

They should be charged...no exceptions..

Agreed. Just trouble makers, like the climate change rabble that caused trouble last year. Start arresting and charging them

what economy? The Chinese one?

Aboriginal Australians continue to be vastly over-represented in the prison population, and there have been more than 400 indigenous deaths in custody in the last few decades alone.

Aborigines commit more crime than the immigrant population ie whites

And the causes of death in prison?

Natural causes,sickness,prison fights etc

The deaths are not due to prison abuse.

Aborigines have a longer life span in prison than outside!

The liberal whites in Oz are very mixed up...

A community which has been deprived of their rights over centuries forced into the lowest strata in society and still suffers from discrimination generally will have higher crime rates.

Also hate to break it to you, whites are no longer the only immigrants to Australia.

The liberal whites in Oz are very mixed up...

They have brains unlike the racists.

@ulysses Yeah so its alright for them to protest while the rest of the Country is in lockdown?

Aborigines have a longer life span in prison than outside!

Nothing racist about the truth..get a grip there..

-5 ( +12 / -17 )

Yeah, they didn't waste time with slavery in 1788 (and for many decades after), just basically slaughtered the Aboriginal population.

Says who?

Nothing racist about the truth..get a grip there..

Let facts not get in the way of a racist agenda!!!

“The liberal whites in Australia are very mixed up” says one poster?

Not really. Just about everyone in the country, liberal or unreasonable, has voiced their opposition to these protests at this time, even if like myself and others our sympathy is with the cause. And that goes for the media too, whichever side of the fence it lives on.

One thing not mentioned so far is how young most of the protesters are. They think they’re bulletproof. The rest of us know different.

What an ignoramus! Does he not know that the Coronavirus is the most intelligent virus we have seen and completely able to become completely harmless in case of rioting for BLM?

I usually disagree with Tangerine but in this case his question made sense based on your comments.

Are you saying white people cannot experience racism?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

People who say that whites do not experience racism have no idea what you are talking about.

As a white man, have you ever been to a pub in Brixton? The one near the Brixton Police station that was set on fire during the Brixton riots.

As a white man, I lived in Brixton for about two years and didn’t have a single problem.

kurisupisu: Aborigines have a longer life span in prison than outside!

Is there any data on this assertion? If so, that's pretty sad.

May the protesters should have to go on a registry and tell their neighbours what they've done. Must protect the neighbourhood. We already do this for other crimes. Oh, and the registry should be for a lifetime.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

What most of you are missing here is that you have not experienced racism for some, or most of your lives which is why you are feeling really defensive right now and trying to deflect the issue into an alternate scenario where its "happened".

History and facts don't lie. Have a nice day.

Morrison’s days are numbered! He will definitely be removed ( by his own party member ) in the weeks ahead! He has been one of the worst PM’s in recent times!

The Australian P.M. and trump are very close. You can smell trumps involvement in this.

Getting the Aussie PM to do what trump wants so that trump can later on use Australia as an example.

This is a usual trump tactic.

I haven’t visited Australia, but as far as slavery ever existing, this seems to indicate that it did. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jun/11/was-there-slavery-in-australia-yes-it-shouldnt-even-be-up-for-debate

Just to get things straight, the reason Scott Morrison is voicing his opinion that protesters should be charged has nothing to do with any Australian racism. It has to do with the protesters violations of social distancing rules and is an expression of his frustration that after the country going through all the hassles of lockdown, closing parts of the economy, etc., and succeeding in not becoming a basket case like so many other countries, literally within days of lifting many restrictions there are some people who think it's OK to get out there on the streets and threaten all of that achievement with an unnecessary, non-urgent get-together in response to an incident that happened on the other side of the Pacific.

And furthermore, the organuzers of the rallies may have been mainly Aboriginal people, but the majority of the demonstrators out there in the streets were not Aboriginal. I'm pretty sure that in Morrison's fantasy wish-list of who he'd like charged - and that's all it is - he wouldn't be discriminatory.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Yes they shouldn't discriminate, that would be against the spirit of the protest.

So they really should charge those who violated the lockdown measures, the protesters should welcome it themselves.

"I think people wanting to take this further this weekend are showing a great disrespect to their fellow Australians," he said, as Victoria state reported one demonstrator in Melbourne had tested positive for coronavirus.

The protesters are making the choice to endanger their own lives, the lives of their fellow protesters, and the lives of their fellow Australians. That makes these protesters incredibly selfish, and stupid.
