Abbots grand plan for the internet includes a blistering 200mb download speed network, by the year 2020. Meanwhile the rest of the world will be complaining about being stuck on 1gbit lines by then.

Anywho, glad i made it out of that country. Hope someone else is PM before i decide to go back.

The bigger issue is not who gets elected, but rather how the media influence has swung the vote in it's preferred favour. Murdoch and his biased newspapers should be banned and kicked out of the country. Abott will win this one, not because his policies are better, not because people want him, but because the large percentage of uninformed voters go by what they've heard and seen. And when a media mogul controls what they've heard and seen then his agenda is imposed on them without a say in it. A far more serious issue for the freedom of Australia and it's people than which clown gets voted into the seat.

Losing a projected 20 seats is not because a newspaper tells you this government is bad, losing 20 seats is because you have lied, cheated, bullied, and wasted the money of the Australian people and they have had enough of it.

@OzKen - all sweeping rhetoric, no facts. Just what we expect from Liberal Party members and their boosters in Oz. Negativity, fear, and mendacity are your stock in trade.

@secularbeast As you might be aware this has been one of three or four articles published about the upcoming election on this news site over the last 4-5 days. I refer you to my comments made in those sections if you are seeking facts about the failures of this Labor Govt. Don't fret now, it'll be all over in just over 24hrs time and you'll finally be put out of your misery.

it matters not which of these corporate psychopaths gets the job. They are both just trying to line their own pockets, and the pockets of their business partners. (who are usually very similar groups of people, from similar schools and backgrounds)

None of their "promises" will be upheld. Either will continue to screw Australians out of money and hand it to their corporate buddies.

Jay Ovens-Henig is on the money about how to win an election. Buddy up (ie promise huge tax benefits and other bonuses) with whoever controls the media

I can't stand Abbott. He's Mr. negativity and simply says the opposite of everything the government says, and the media simply report he-said-she-said stories that tell you nothing about who is actually telling the truth and who is lying.

On saying that, I was listening to an interview with Rudd on Monday and finally got to the point where I was so frustrated with him, that there was no way on earth I could vote for him. So I, like most Australians, am stuck between voting between stupid and annoying. I guess I'm going to be voting for stupid. Let's get the current government out ASAP, then the new one out as soon as we can after that. Perhaps someday, if we keep voting governments out, we'll reach some politician-free eutopia... but I servery doubt that.

@OzKen - and all your posts have been based on Murdoch and Liberal Party talking points, and not facts. Being able to flap your lips and parrot shock-jocks isn't a sign of intelligence - its just a sad form of sycophancy.

Scrappiest election campaign I can recall, no big picture policies, no recognition of Australia's economic strengths. Hard to think who is worse, self-centred Rudd as PM or Joe Hockey as Treasurer. What we now have to live with will be slow Internet and contributing to regional international instability through drastically cutting aid.

Rudd is actually quite a nice guy, when he was last elected lots of Australian citizens got some money / pay out.

Your opinions of mine are based on left-leaning bias and nothing more. Look, even Labor heavyweight Graham Richardson recognises a change of govt is required. Endorsement enough I think despite your hollow rhetoric portraying the current corrupt mob in a good light. The country's destiny has been set. Eat it up.

Hard to think who is worse, self-centred Rudd as PM or Joe Hockey as Treasurer.

As opposed to previous treasurers of Swan or Bowen - at least Joe Hockey can calculate properly and he has come up with costings that have been accounted for completely. That in itself puts future treasurer Joe Hockey ahead of the two failed incumbents already, and he hasn't even started in his job.

Let the voters decide. Count the actual votes.

Don't believe the Telegraph its owner Murdock is a staunch Liberal supporter as he will loose billions if Labor completes its fiber optic National Broadband Network . That is why he is miss leading the voters with his phony figures.

Do any Aussies miss John Howard?

I'm sad to see that the media are not barred from the election by at least by a few weeks.
