I am no expert on Australia, but my general impression is that the continent is not a place to go environmentally tinkering with and is already on the edge and best not be pushed any further.

Tony Abbott ... warned too much Australian forestry was closed to logging and there were enough national parks.7

What an arse-clown.

I thought Aussies were 100% in favour of protecting the environment? This idiot seems to be cut from different cloth.

Now this is strange. Given how Australia has a proportional election system, mandatory voting, plus being highly environmental it somehow gets this as a PM? The more interesting question is, what happened?

In the short time of "Australia" there's already been too much environmental degradation. Soon we'll be hearing of kick backs and corruption.

Very VERY bad statement. Instead of cutting things down, how about learning to work with the environment instead of destroying it? Plant more trees/indigenous plants Set aside already developed but unused land to grow trees/plants specifically for logging? I don't know how long it takes for trees to grow in Aus, but I'm pretty sure chopping something down that took at least 30+ years to grow is not easy to replace.
