Immigration needs to be tightened in both NZ and Aus to stop these would be terrorist types from entering the countries, and also those already there need to be thoroughly vetted and monitored to ensure any thoughts of committing their disgusting acts of terror are curtailed.

I don't know why mass immigration of these people was allowed in the first place, they do not intergrate and hate the western way of life, not all but some. They will hide and cover the ones amongst them who would do harm but they should be exposing those people not coveting them.

Good policing by the cops - they even got the dogs on some of these individuals! Lets hope they have caught the potential terrorists and keep them locked away for a very long time. We don't want a London situation with a poor innocent person beheaded in broad daylight.

Now lets wait for the politically correct crowd to manage to blame Western oppression for this.

Great News. I hope they round them all up and lock them away in a special prison where they can all be together, just so they can annoy the heck out of one another for the rest of their lives.

Woah,

the plan involved snatching random members of the public in Sydney, draping them in an Islamic State flag and beheading them on camera.

Insane! Its time that countries like OZ, Holland, UK and FRANCE, deny reentry by people who are fighting in Syria. No need for those people to return.

Glad they got caught.

@WilliB Actually, it is one sad dude from China. He'll be on here, I'm sure.

Good work!

Dream on! If ISIS ever goes sour, the Jihadis with European passports will come back and be plonked right back into the welfare systems. If Western goverments actually try to do something about them, they will scream discrimination and islamophobia, and our do-goody-goody societies will cringe and apologize. Wait for it.

Anyone who could not see this coming 20 years ago must have been blind. Immigration / intergration of these people does not work , look at UK Belgium, france to see that. All the lovey, cuddley, nice n fluffy, hug em and they will love us back BS does not work and will never work.

These radical religious types only want blood and its your blood they want. Either you all become muslim or they continue there threats and they will not stop.

Imagine if they succeeded with their plan and kidnapped a member of your family and executed them in your local area.

We cannot let these dogs get away with what they are trying to do.

They can do this in our communities and we are supposed to accept it, we draw a cartoon of mohhamad and there is outrage from them, well where is the outrage about this ?

Disgusted to think they are doing this in our cities.,

Good work, Australian authorities.

Gotta love multiculturalism. I sure hope Japan doesn't follow suit.

dont worry NZ intelligence is extremely good and to be perfectly blunt almost all communications in NZ are screened by govt secret service.

I hope that the West and other nations take a deep breath and look deep within their societies. Islamic fanatics are all over the place and need to be stopped. It's time to do whatever it takes to end these sicko's from spreading their disease!

Time for a real hard look at immigration practices and policies!

Just because they ask for political asylum doesn't mean that they are oppressed, it could mean that their nation believes that they are bloody insane and deserve to be in a deep dark hole away from the rest of society!

Time for the West to start protecting their citizens and start kicking out these fanatics before they have a chance to murder the innocent!

Sharia is one big problem that is effecting Western nations. There are fanatics trying and in some cases succeeding in introducing it into the West.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2587215/Sharia-Law-enshrined-British-legal-lawyers-guidelines-drawing-documents-according-Islamic-rules.html

BTW, I expect the Liberal PC crowd to be up in arms and protect the rights of any religious fanatic to oppress the right of whomever they want.

BTW, under Sharia law a women is only worth 1/2 of a man, let's see how the Liberal women feel when they have zero rights under the future as Liberals see it.

You know, this Liberal PC utopian society we are all forced to live in!

JeffLeeSep. 18, 2014 - 09:09PM JST Gotta love multiculturalism. I sure hope Japan doesn't follow suit.

Multiculturalism isn't the problem, allowing fanatics to come into your country and teach their fanaticism is. The best way to stop these psychopaths from brainwashing and recruiting kids into their sick religious beliefs is to deny them entry or just deport them when they start their bunk.

If the UK had the nads to do it many lives would have been saved. But, they allowed these maniacs the rights and freedoms of any other person and are now paying a very high price.

Australia is doing it right by going after these psychopaths before they have the chance to kill!

WilliBSep. 18, 2014 - 11:13AM JST Now lets wait for the politically correct crowd to manage to blame Western oppression for this.

As usual, spot on!

Liberals would rather hug a psychopath than call them out!

Islam has no place in any modern society. Back to the desert if you want to practice your barbaric nonsense

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Thank you to the Australian Intelligence services, MI6 and the folks at Langley for sharing information and coordinating this operation and helping to cleanse Australia of this scum.

And that's why Australia was resolving the boat people issue.

If Western goverments actually try to do something about them, they will scream discrimination and islamophobia, and our do-goody-goody societies will cringe and apologize. Wait for it.

Multiculturalism is a failure because it stresses differences instead of bringing people together. It is an insidious world view that not only allows ex-terrorists to easily embed themselves into Western societies but also allows them to use their race, ethnicity, religion, etc. to shield themselves from suspicion. No better example is what happened in Rotherham. For more than two decades multiculturalism protected Pakistani immigrants as they sexually brutalized hundreds of working class white girls. If responsible authorities will offer up young girls to political correctness, it is hard to imagine terrorists being deterred from their terrible aims. Western culture is sick and is enabling it's own destruction. At some point immigration policies must change to benefit countries and not the misguided sensibilities of the Left.

The insidious nature of "othering" is abundantly evident in a lot of these hateful messages; Use of "they", "them", "these people". These can be highly problematic terms. I'm in firm agreement that persons who have been investigated and found to be linked with terrorist activities should be dealt with swiftly as the people in this article were dealt with. But to come out swinging with aggressive stances that seem to be aimed at an entire demographic seems a little problematic.

Yes, this is a Islamic fundamentalism issue. Many Islamic practitioners are racially stereo-typed to a specific demographic and what ends up happening is a blanket aggression and persecution towards all members of that perceived race (it's not even one) and that religion. Islam is not a bad religion, neither is Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, or any other -ism out there. Fundamentalism is the real problem and this hate mongering against "immigration" and "immigrants" is actually a fundamentalist view point.

It's all a terrible cycle of hate that will only end when we are all wiped out or when somebody stops throwing stones back but starts building with those stones. Fundamentalist Christians invaded the Islamic states for centuries and created a whole load of bad blood that has been causing back and forth exchanges for the better part of 1000 years.

Political correctness has nothing to do with it. Being aware of your unconscious wording is something everybody should strive to work on. Who is "they"? Who is "them". Do you mean "terrorists"? More likely than not it will be a blanket implication upon a group of people from which the chosen target comes.

ISIS is a problem. It's a problem that grows each day and grows in adversity. The more we push the fundamentalists the more they will push back.

I will admit that from what we witness in the news Islam seems to have taken a turn for the worse. I don't believe for a moment that this is the Islam of all Islamic people. I believe this is the Islamic equivalent of nutters like the Westboro Baptist Church. If all you saw on the news of Christianity was them how would you feel towards Christianity.

I'm completely nonreligious myself and think all formalised religious groups are potentially dangerous, not inherently though, just potentially. Religion has its place and can do a lot of good too, it's just not for me.

Apologies for the wall of text. If you read this far. I'm from South Africa and I encounter this problematic linguistic behaviour on a daily basis when referring to crime. We hate crime, but inevitably the dialogue is more about hating "them". And any of us being in Japan should also be aware of that "othering" in the great blanket "Gai(koku)jin" that will forever be used for us. If you are not Japanese racially then you are a foreigner. Even people who were born and raised here. it is immediate and gut racial stereo-typing that is never thought about by the "stereo-typer".

TL;DR: Terrorism is bad. Criminality is bad. Stop blaming groups of people for these things. Consider that "immigrants" and "foreigners" fail to merge with a culture because they are "othered", and not that they refuse to change. The natural response of "othering" is to strengthen self pride and become more aggressive in defending your self; the self in the sense of the entire image of what you are.

Don't go out and "hug a psychopath", try to be compassionate and caring for all people before pre-judging them. That's all we can do.

Kagemusha:

Thanks for laying out the PC position with all its flaws. It is because out politicians and media have bought into all the false premises which you list up, that Western society is in this pickle.

KagemushaSep. 19, 2014 - 09:54AM JST Don't go out and "hug a psychopath", try to be compassionate and caring for all people before pre-judging them. That's all we can do.

No one prejudged those fanatics. They had every chance in the world to show that they weren't psychopathic.

But, their hatred, violence and prejudices are what made the rest of "us" judge them. If you have an issue with "us" judging psychopaths as psychopaths then maybe it is not "us" who have the problem.

What "we" are calling for is the denial of asylum and deportation of anyone who supports and tries to push ISIS, Sharia law and radical teachings into our communities. Not many fall under that umbrella and once they get the hard boot to the rump the rest will get the message. BTW, no one is judging all Muslims and we don't want all the followers of Islam to be deported, that is just PC crap.

PC supporters want us to understand the psychopaths and be compassionate to them. How about the victims of their madness, what of them?

The PC crowd would rather hug a psychopath than weep for the victims of their madness. To them, it was not the fault of the psychopath that he murdered scores of people it was his upbringing.

Try and have compassion for those that were murdered and those that will be murdered by these psychopaths. Stop trying to know why they are so mad, they aren't mad at anything, they are psychopaths and they have no feelings of remorse or compassion.

Take a look at the faces of those psychopaths while they hold the severed heads of their victims. Don't look at the heads, look at the faces of those psychopaths and each and every time you will see that the psychopath has a big smile on his face.

Big smile means he is very happy murdering someone and has zero remorse.

KagemushaSep. 19, 2014 - 09:54AM JST I believe this is the Islamic equivalent of nutters like the Westboro Baptist Church. If all you saw on the news of Christianity was them how would you feel towards Christianity.

So, you consider the crimes against humanity carried out by ISIS and their overseas follower equal to 12 nutters carrying silly signs?

Think about that.

Yes, the Christian Westboro nutters are nutters, but they haven't done anything as evil and vial as what the Islamic Fanatics in ISIS have done. To even try and ask the rest of "us" not to judge them is so way off base.

I think the PC view, which "Kagemusha" listed in so many words, was summarized in two lines by "StormR":

Anyone who could not see this coming 20 years ago must have been blind. Immigration / intergration of these people does not work , look at UK Belgium, france to see that. All the lovey, cuddley, nice n fluffy, hug em and they will love us back BS does not work and will never work.

Exactly. Western societies has been going out of its way to embrace and accommodate, but in return, they only got hatred and demands for more. Just look at percentage muslims living in Western countries who want Shariah law. The numbers are mind-boggling.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Time to take a hard line on these people, they either conform or they are gone. They are a threat to our way of life, and if any other group threatened our way of life as much as this bunch they would be dealt with sternly.

To take a softly softly approach to them does not work as proven, they will not embrace their new country culture or way of life, they want to live the way they did in the deserts of their berth but with all the benefits afforded them of a welfare system.

They want it both ways.
