A refreshing lack of comment here. If people have learned to mind their own business will the press soon follow suit? One can only hope. If their personal relationship has no bearing on the scandal it just isn't newsworthy. But media salespeople have no shame.

Uh, I think the point is that the relationship is the scandal, not whether or not it has bearing on it. It makes it possible for a foreign nation to have power over the premier, through one way or the other. Even if the relationship had no political angle, the mere appearance of impropriety is enough to undermine public trust. Berejiklian should resign.

I recommend reading the article. Then reading it again. The scandal is the "cash for visas" scheme, perpetrated by her lover. Their personal relationship is not proof she was involved at all. And in fact, anyone could be involved without such a relationship.

t possible for a foreign nation to have power over the premier, through one way or the other.

Nonsense.

I never said there was. What I did say was,

the mere appearance of impropriety is enough to undermine public trust. Berejiklian should resign

And this is correct. Otherwise, the next time that someone has an affair that does impact national security, they can keep their position by saying, "why should I resign? Berejiklian didn't".

And in fact, anyone could be involved without such a relationship.

If Maguire was involved with a check-out girl I don't think this would be an issue. The premier of a state should know better. She didn't. She should resign.

Nonsense.

It's actually quite simple to understand. I know that you deeply distrust the public and dislike democracy, but you are in the minority. Democracy is valued by people across the world. It is important that they can say they have faith in those they elect. Berejiklian can no longer claim that faith. She must resign.

Let me get this straight: The state premier was sleeping with a male Member of Parliament for several years, and the guy was involved in several shady or illegal deals all involving China - falsified employment and visa fraud; an airport land deal; name-dropping when contacting Chinese companies; and use of his (or her) position to try to get on a lobbying junket. She kept it so secret she didn't even tell family and friends about it.

Nothing to see here. Move along. How dare any of you peasants question her about it!

If he really hit that thing or if she really hit that thing, there is nowhere for her to go but out!

Why is this even being questioned? Tainted. Stinky-Gate.

Have you considered that the fault is actually with tHe MeDiA?

"People may have tried to influence me... but they failed," she said.

I hope some very detailed and persistent investigations are coming up.

Where I work such an undisclosed relationship would get me fired very quickly. We are expected to both know better and exercise better judgement.

I’m sure the cutting edge investigative journalists at ‘The Next News Network’ are hot in the case. Be sure to share another link if they hit gold.
