They close down coal fired stations, export most of their gas, then take out generating capacity when there's high demand, reason given 'high gas prices makes it not viable to run generators'. My bet is for the foreseable future Aussies are going to be paying a lot more for their electricity.

BTW, the carbon offset crowd had smoke out of their ears when the government subsidized the retention of the few remaining fuel refineries left in Australia saying EVs is the way to cheaper transport cost. LOL, what a scam.

The thing about being tucked away and isolated from the rest of the world is that it gives the people a strong sense of society and group. They form strong attachments, and are willing to do things for society, even sometimes at sacrifice to themselves.

Countries like that did really well in Covid, and rank higher on happiness indexes. Countries where the people are selfish, with little sense of societal obligation did poorly.
