“Democrats are going to fight like hell,” Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said...

It doesn't matter what Any Schumer's cousin Chuck says if Pelosi won't let her democrat ,lock-stepping, Congressman show up for work.

“There is tremendous CoronaVirus testing capacity in Washington for the Senators returning to Capital Hill on Monday,” Trump tweeted, flagging the note to his chief of staff Mark Meadows.

Ninety minutes later, Health Secretary Alex Azar tweeted that the administration would be sending three machines and 1,000 virus tests to Capitol Hill.

Pelosi couldn't arrange testing, but Trump didn't seem to have any difficulty making it happen. Again. The "resist" movement won't even allow elected Democrats to work for the betterment of the country during a pandemic.

The Senate will reopen on Monday as the coronavirus crisis rages and the House stays shuttered, a risky strategy that leaves Congress as divided as the nation.

Let the Democrats stay on vacation, they can do less damage that way.

When the Republicans take back the House in Nov. Congress won't be so divided.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Wow, the Senate are willing to risk their health and lives for the people and the Dems want to wait it out? Yup, not surprised at all. Smh....

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Wow, the Senate are willing to risk their health and lives for the people

"The Senate's return gives President Donald Trump the imagery he wants of America getting back to work, despite the health risks."

"Democrats complain they are returning to a noticeably light agenda, packed with confirmation hearings for Trump's judicial and executive branch nominees, but with little emphasis on the pandemic and Great Depression-level economic collapse."

The republicans are obviously not risking their health "for the people", but for political gain only. Good for them, I guess.

BINGO! More political theater for the Donny fans to lap up.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

It’s strange we haven’t heard a peep here about Donny claiming to have seen evidence that this virus came from the lab in Wuhan. I for one am happy that the president of the US is pushing ridiculous conspiracy theories.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Pelosi couldn't arrange testing, but Trump didn't seem to have any difficulty making it happen.

Yeah it's really impressive how the President managed to do something that benefits him, his image, and the Senate his party controls, huh?

(...Except both McConnell and Pelosi refused those tests, which makes him now look like a goof)

Congress is grateful for the Administration’s generous offer to deploy rapid COVID-19 testing capabilities to Capitol Hill, but we respectfully decline the offer at this time. Our country’s testing capacities are continuing to scale up nationwide and Congress wants to keep directing resources to the front-line facilities where they can do the most good the most quickly.

"The Senate's return gives President Donald Trump the imagery he wants of America getting back to work, despite the health risks."

Yes, it is a risk, but you can’t shut down the entire planet indefinitely, there’s no way you can do that, it’s unsustainable and because many cities and States are all slowly loosening restrictions, people have to ans want to get to work and the longer this lockdown continues as the numbers of new cases are falling, the angrier and more rebellious the people will get. You don’t do a giant massive re-opening, you do it gradually and in phases with the extreme cautionary measures in place.

"Democrats complain they are returning to a noticeably light agenda, packed with confirmation hearings for Trump's judicial and executive branch nominees, but with little emphasis on the pandemic and Great Depression-level economic collapse."

Again, you can walk and chew gum at the same time, the Democrats on their end want to hold hearings and put together a Coronavirus task force to investigate Trump....again...so if they have time to do that, they have the time sit through judicial and executive branch confirmation hearings as well.

The British parliament isn't in full sitting even during the weekly prime ministers question time. Limited numbers with MP's asking their questions over the internet.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

actually makes Nancy look like a goof. She said they cant come back because of no tests, then declines them when offered. So if she doesnt need tests as an excuse, time to come back to work.

(...Except both McConnell and Pelosi refused those tests, which makes him now look like a goof)

You just dont read enough. remember those 17 intelligence agencies you so loved?

"Majority of US spy agencies believe the coronavirus escaped from Wuhan lab"

Ok and? What’s your point?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

actually makes Nancy look like a goof. She said they cant come back because of no tests, then declines them when offered. So if she doesnt need tests as an excuse, time to come back to work.

Nancy even tried to take credit for the stimulus even, come on....

The woman is all over the place and the bad thing is, she doesn’t realize it.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Remember those "Five Eyes" guys you also loved? Even in a leaked dossier, which we know you love as a credible source. Australia still saying "wet market", but the one that is 300 meters from the lab. so basically a technicality.

So we want Congress back in session so things like this can be dealt with by our elected government, not by continued media back and forth. We have committees and such that can investigate, take testimony, meet, decide and hold China accountable. They cant do that at home eating ice cream.

Ok and? What’s your point?

the point is is it safe for congress/parliaments to hold their regular sessions with so many people in small spaces and committee rooms?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

the point is is it safe for congress/parliaments to hold their regular sessions with so many people in small spaces and committee rooms?

I’m not a doctor so I wouldn’t be able to make that kind of an assessment, but Congress will have to figure it out, they can still practice safe distancing within the chambers or work on some inventive ways, but they can’t just sit back and wait it out, that’s not only insane it’s just unfathomable for the nation.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

then declines them when offered

McConnell rejected them too. What does that make him?

The turtle is very very old. And you know which group is the most vulnerable. Just saying.

Overall, we rate the Washington Examiner Right Biased based on editorial positions that almost exclusively favor the right and Mixed for factual reporting due to several failed fact checks.

Maybe you too should read more. Unbiased sources, that is.

Trump Officials Are Said to Press Spies to Link Virus and Wuhan Labs

Basically Trump is angry his intelligence agencies didn't agree with him last week and his now forcing them to say what he wants. So of course the right-wing media is now all over this like flies on a dog's excrement.

So maybe listen to the science instead of the noise?

Mitch is going back to work. Nancy isnt.

Mitch looks like a hero, I dont need those give them to first responders instead of me. But I will still work anyway.

Nancy looks excuse ridden. I know I said I cant work without those, but forget I said that. Dont give those to me- they are the only excuse I had to not go back to work.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Mitch is going back to work. Nancy isnt.

You do realize they put out a joint statement on this? In a rare show of party cooperation. If it's something they decided together, why would it project a different image for each of them? Isn't that an extremely biased point of view?

Also, you do realize that the Senate has 45 democrats that are going back to work and the House, equally, has 196 republicans that are, by your standards, "still on vacation"?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Overall, we rate the Washington Examiner Right Biased

But the Washington Post or the NYT aren’t bias, right?

Maybe you too should read more. Unbiased sources, that is.

Yeah? Such as? And please don’t say, Reuters or AP.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

But the Washington Post or the NYT aren’t bias, right?

They are left-leaning, but overall factually researched and correct, which is the important point.

And please don’t say, Reuters or AP.

It's really fascinating how, in the eyes of the right, even Reuters and AP, probably some of the, if not the most unbiased and factually accurate news sources on this earth, have also become left-wing propaganda. Just because they report on actual facts. Fascinating and scary.

I'll reply with a request: please show us how Reuters and AP are biased.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Basically Trump is angry his intelligence agencies didn't agree with him last week and his now forcing them to say what he wants.

Even Trump doesn’t have that kind of power.

So of course the right-wing media is now all over this like flies on a dog's excrement.

So maybe listen to the science instead of the noise?

Well, so what’s next, the virus didn’t come from China? ROFL!

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

*It's really fascinating how, in the eyes of the right, even Reuters and AP, probably some of the, if not the most unbiased and factually accurate news sources on this earth,*

No, they are not.

Despite journalists' denials, it's now pretty much a fact that journalism is one of the most left-wing of all professions. But until recently, that wasn't thought to be true of financial journalists — who have a reputation for being the most right-leaning and free-market-oriented among mainstream journalists.

If that was ever true, it sure isn't today, a new study suggests.

*Researchers from Arizona State University and Texas A&M University questioned 462 financial journalists around the country. They followed up with 18 additional interviews. The journalists worked for the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Washington Post, Associated Press and a number of other newspapers.*

He compared the senators to the essential work force of grocery clerks, truck drivers and others keeping Americans fed during the crisis.

Senators? Not even close, Mitch.

Those clerks, those drivers, those who are operating food banks, those who are saving lives in hospitals, those who are following safety procedures... they are the actual heroes.

The US political system has revealed its fatal flaws.

60 thousand plus dead, which Trump was fine with, now he's fine with maybe 100 thousand dead coming soon.

When 3 thousand people died in New York, there was a war on terror.

And now?

Well, the plan, so far, seems to be a war on science and common sense. Or blaming someone else for the spread of the virus.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Even Trump doesn’t have that kind of power.

He and his administration absolutely have to power to pressure the intelligence agencies into at least saying they are "investigating" things they have already publicly announced they don't believe in last week. And they are doing it. Because even if the intelligence agencies again confirm they found nothing, Trump will still be able to muddy the waters by saying that "it's being investigated", or "people are saying" and "there are many theories", and the rest of his usual tactics (right after pointing at his heas and saying how intelligent he is)

Well, so what’s next, the virus didn’t come from China?

No. Why would there be something "next"?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

each group has a leader. Its not the individual decision of each Senator or Congressman.

The leader of the House on the Republican side stated he and his members want to return to work. Nancy wont allow it. So I dont consider that "vacation" when you have no input into your ability to go to work.

Also, you do realize that the Senate has 45 democrats that are going back to work and the House, equally, has 196 republicans that are, by your standards, "still on vacation"?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/media-bias-left-study/

As discussed before, Investors Business Daily is a paper that actively dispenses "right wing conspiracy theories" and regularly fails "numerous fact checks". So it is not proving anything to anyone.

Please prove to us, with your own facts and research, that AP and Reuters are left wing propaganda.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

left leaning site with a failed fact check. Seeing as this site is also the one saying Tara Reade is truthful, that allegation must be super duper true, coming from a left leaning site.

So maybe listen to the science instead of the noise?

https://www.businessinsider.com/why-coronavirus-did-not-leak-from-wuhan-lab-researcher-2020-4

You cant simply discount every single article on any site you see as right leaning from your little bias check website. While at the same time using WaPo, CNN and NY Times as truth. You do realize that the left wont write the article, thats why you only see it on right leaning sites. A left leaning site simply ignores that news all together.

Every time the intelligence community says something you like, Trump doesnt listen to them!

Every time the intelligence com, unity says something you dont like: Trump forced them to say it!!

If he has that power, why are there so many times they dont say what "he wants"?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

When the Republicans take back the House in Nov. Congress won't be so divided.

The cowardly Republicans who allowed the spread of misinformation? Who mostly stand by as their leader praises far right protesters carrying anti-Semitic placards in Illinois, as "good people"?

Slim chance.

You don't get away lightly with being complicit in the deaths of 60-70 thousand of your citizens.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Its not the individual decision of each Senator or Congressman.

True. And Rand Paul obviously didn't want to go back to Congress, but was apparently forced to, yeah. Isn't it interesting how the only congressman who actually caught the Covid-19 was trying to get a vote to be able to work from home, and McConnell told him "...nope"?

Nancy wont allow it.

And why do you think that is, exactly? What would the ulterior motive be, for you?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

You cant simply discount every single article on any site you see as right leaning from your little bias check website

When those websites contain the mention "failed facts checks", I absolutely can, yeah. And I will. Because it means they aren't trustworthy. It's as simple as that. I will gladly read and listen to articles from, for example, the American Affairs Journal or the Daily Herald (right-wing leaning sites with high sourcing and fact checks). But I will simply not, to use a horrible meme... Read actual fake news. And that goes for

You do realize that the left wont write the article, thats why you only see it on right leaning sites.

You just said something extremely true without even realizing it. Yes, there are indeed lately a lot of stories that appear only in the right-wing media. That is because those stories are fabricated.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/feb/06/sharing-fake-news-us-rightwing-study-trump-university-of-oxford

Low-quality, extremist, sensationalist and conspiratorial news published in the US was overwhelmingly consumed and shared by rightwing social network users, according to a new study from the University of Oxford.

Every time the intelligence community says something you like, Trump doesnt listen to them!

Every time the intelligence com, unity says something you dont like: Trump forced them to say it!!

OK, so explain to us why the "intelligence community" is somehow suddenly saying the exact opposite of what they were saying a few days ago.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Those clerks, those drivers, those who are operating food banks, those who are saving lives in hospitals, those who are following safety procedures... they are the actual heroes.

This is very true.

The US political system has revealed its fatal flaws.

60 thousand plus dead, which Trump was fine with, now he's fine with maybe 100 thousand dead coming soon.

What a bunch of garbage. Trump is and was never fine with any lives lost, if you make that argument, then we can say that the Democrats don’t care about the country because they’d rather hide instead of fighting for the people to get the country back on track even if that includes sacrificing themselves? That’s the very definition of a “coward.”

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The cowardly Republicans who allowed the spread of misinformation?

They’re staying at home? Why do liberals prefer hiding? What makes them better for staying at home? Does their liberalism shield them from the virus?

You don't get away lightly with being complicit in the deaths of 60-70 thousand of your citizens

Talk to China.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

So WaPo, CNN and NY Times have no failed fact checks?

When those websites contain the mention "failed facts checks",

Because they seem to have learned more in their investigation. The "Five Eyes" intelligence also mostly supports their position.

OK, so explain to us why the "intelligence community" is somehow suddenly saying the exact opposite of what they were saying a few days ago.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

But with fresh ideas and young blood coming up through the ranks, that may change for the Democrats.

The same for the Republicans.

Trump has zero empathy and is concerned with his ratings.

He shouldn’t be, the polls keep getting it wrong an have been since 2016

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The same for the Republicans.

The Republicans are finished. The people have seen what they have done to them, how they have lied and manipulated them.

He shouldn’t be, the polls keep getting it wrong an have been since 2016

Polls getting it wrong, except for those polls you say are getting it right.

But nice to see we're in agreement that the quack has no empathy for his subjects.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

yes, I do. Because it is a pandemic. Will the leader of every country in the world that has a COVID death be removed under this scenario? or just the leaders you dont like?

Was Obama removed over H1N1? he is still beloved, right? over 12,000 deaths.

Do you really think that whoever presides over such a catclysmic disaster like this is ever going to hold office again?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The Republicans are finished.

No, not at all.

Trump is at 44.1% RCP averaging out.

The people have seen what they have done to them, how they have lied and manipulated them.

They also have seen twice what the Dems have done in denying them aid and the stimulus, that was very bad.

Polls getting it wrong,

On Trump, every single one since 2016, even Romney, no fan of Trump’s said, as an incumbent he’s likely to win re-election.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Was Obama removed over H1N1? he is still beloved, right? over 12,000 deaths.

The economy didn't sink like Trump's is now. Show me the money because the stock market is DOWN.

Romney, no fan of Trump’s said, as an incumbent he’s likely to win re-election.

Was this gem said before or after the mass loss of life?

Whatever.

The Trump medicine show is being exposed for the con it is.

The curtain is coming down. There will be no second act.

The old fossils that are the Republican party better stock up on masks and hand sanitizer! Actually having to take the risks most us have been taking for the past to months!

Was this gem said before or after the mass loss of life?

Last week.

The Trump medicine show is being exposed for the con it is.

The curtain is coming down. There will be no second act

If the liberals can keep the people at home and not allow them to go back to work and make a living it could, but given that Trump is still quite high for an incumbent, I doubt it.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

If the liberals can keep the people at home and not allow them to go back to work

Trump is not a liberal. He's the one who is allowing this lockdown. The economy is crashing under Trump.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

No, because in the US, we don’t have or allow Nazism to register as a political party

It permeates the Trump fanbase, though.

Why is this, do you think?

We had a poster here who regularly posted "hail Trump" comments.

He even got the occasional like for his troubles.

I differ on that idea.

Of course. Nuance and political intelligence and the ability to critique is beyond staunch Trump supporters.

Most journalists I know have a basic grasp of the multitude of variety in ideologies on not only the American political spectrum but those of other countries.

I wonder why some in the US don't.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You just dont read enough. remember those 17 intelligence agencies you so loved?

I trust more than I trust Donny, which doesn’t mean I love them. Nice whatever you were try big to do with that statement.

"Majority of US spy agencies believe the coronavirus escaped from Wuhan lab"

Here you are using double standards again. Just yesterday you were screeching that anonymous sources mean a report lacks credibility.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Limit the chamber numbers with social spacing and beam the others in from the internet onto large screens. Are the domestic flights still running?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Now, let’s see what an appropriately sourced news article has to say about the intelligence community agreeing this virus came from the Wuhan lab:

WASHINGTON—The U.S. intelligence community publicly confirmed it is trying to determine whether the coronavirus may have escaped from a laboratory in Wuhan, the city where the pandemic began.

In an unusual public statement, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, or ODNI, also said that U.S. intelligence agencies concur with the broad scientific consensus that “the Covid-19 virus was not manmade or genetically modified.”

But ODNI, which coordinates the work of 17 U.S. spy agencies, said U.S. intelligence “will continue to rigorously examine emerging information and intelligence to determine whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or if it was the result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan.”

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/u-s-intelligence-agencies-say-coronavirus-originated-in-china-wasnt-man-madeor-genetically-modified-11588260228

Why do Republican presidents pressure the intelligence community to cool intelligence. It happened under the last Republican president and we unjustly invaded Iraq.

You cant simply discount every single article on any site you see as right leaning from your little bias check website.

Here you go with your double standard again. You discount every single article from what you perceive as the “liberal msm.” You don’t even bother with fact-checking, you just decide.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Mitch is going back to work. Nancy isnt.

One, Mitch is simply going back to cram more confirmations through for Donny, not actually taking up important legislation.

Two, Nancy and the rest of the House are still working, just not in Washington. Exactly like the republicans in the House and everyone in the Senate. You have to be delusional to think members of Congress only work when in DC.
