Most older people always say they are fine when a major medical event happens. By the footage shown all over the world, she is clearly not fine. I question if she could complete a four year term as President.

14 ( +20 / -6 )

Pneumonia? In my experience pneumonia is extremely debilitating and often needs hospital care not just a few hours rest and some re-hydration. She is no doubt suffering from something but I doubt that it's pneumonia.

12 ( +22 / -10 )

This was a major medical event. She cannot hide the fact anymore. High pollen count, allergies, colds and flu and now pneumonia? The mainstream media cannot cover for her any longer. Cleary she does not have the stamina to be the next President of the United States of America. Game over.

12 ( +25 / -13 )

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Pneumonia is serious, and contagious. She actually needs real medical care.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

The doctor says Sunday's episode was due to overheating and dehydration, but Hillary is now, "re-hydrated and recovering nicely."

The American people are not that stupid!

10 ( +16 / -6 )

Nah, it's just an allergy attack. Trump was in the crowd. It must be that. Just a frog in her throat. She just needs a glass of water, for the frog. Nevermind mind that she "lost her footing" (and her shoe) while the human wall blocked the view. Nothing to see. Move along.

9 ( +19 / -10 )

Walking pneumonia is not as bad as bacterial, although Hillary is on meds for hypothyroidism and blood thinner also so this doesn't explain all the symptoms for as long as she has had them.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

sf2k, saying that Hillary Clinton has a bit of a cough is like saying the Titanic hit a bit of an iceberg and now has a bit of damage on the side.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

Always thought there should be a maximum age limit for US (and other nations) president/PM, for their/our sake. As most terms are around 4 years long these days, 65-66yo on election day/first day in office sounds about right.

It's one of the most physically and intellectually demanding job there is yet ppl in their mid 70s are expected to deliver. Not fair on them nor the nation imo..

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Hillary knew going in that her health was not up to it. Ego.

5 ( +15 / -10 )

Assuming HRC really has pneumonia - I'm not a doctor with access - her advisors should have insisted she take a break earlier. Sure, campaigning is tough, but she must be ready for the first debate that's a little more than 2 weeks away. It may be grueling.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

See what I mean? Yesterdays talking points, fed to you by the globalist controlled media. Hook, line, and sinker.

Nice attempt at trying not to deal with real issues that exist with real people today, by dismissing them as some MSM conspiracy.

And this is the problem with the right today, they would rather detract from issues, and try to regress society, instead of dealing with issues, and progressing society.

And McCain didn't win not because of his health, but because he was the VP under Bush, a regime that destabilized the middle-east, America, and to a smaller degree, the rest of the world.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

She was potentially exposing thousands of other people just by being out and about...very doubtful that is what the doctor ordered.

4 ( +21 / -17 )

Lizz

Maybe they were just doing their jobs, and are qualified to do them?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

What happens if HRC withdraws? This may help.

An opinion article by Ronn Blitzer in Law Newz said on September 11:

"...should a presidential candidate drop out, the Democratic National Committee has rules in place to handle the situation. Article 2, Section 7 of the DNC Bylaws says that if there is a vacancy on the national ticket, a special meeting of the Committee ” shall be held on the call of the Chairperson,” where they would choose a new candidate. Such meetings make decisions based on a majority of those in attendance."

HRC has wanted the position for a long time. She'll die trying to get into the White House.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

one thing you cant seem to grasp. lots and lots of people who arent right wingers do not support hillary.

That's absolutely true, and lots and lots of people who ARE right wingers don't support Trump.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Hopefully she`ll be ok. Pneumonia can be deadly.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

The impartial, expert medical opinions from the physicians on JT are always welcome. I have a condition which makes me roll my eyes whenever I hear rubbish like this.

That said, this incident doesn't look good for the Clinton camp.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

"The American people are not that stupid!"

Thanks, doc. What's the real diagnosis?

The Clinton camp hasn't always been the most forthcoming when it comes to her private issues. I'm not a doctor, but when you're that age and getting a pneumonia, there is a true reason to be concerned. The voters have every right to know and be concerned.

3 ( +11 / -8 )

A deeply Christian Facebook acquaintance of mine posted with breathless excitement this morning on the possibility that Clinton has Parkinsons. Certainly, anything is possible, though keeping this under wraps would require a conspiracy involving multiple doctors and virtually everyone she knows, so it's highly unlikely. What struck me was the tone of this supposedly Christian friend: she and many like her are actively hoping that Clinton has or will come down with some debilitating disease.

Another nail in the coffin of that notion that the Christian right possesses any morals at all.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

WilliB

Neither was I. Did anybody say that? I pointed out the debates have always been standing. The debates between candidates, not presidents. Have you seen one that was not?

Yes, the 2000 Bush Gore Debate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAUcyfKESts

I didn't see a problem with it then and I don't see one now.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

WilliB and Strangerland: Dick Cheney was GW Bush's Vice President. John McCain has been a Senator from Arizona since 1987 and never been a VP.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I ask some of you to hold your nose for a moment and read what Jim Geraghty wrote in the National Review of September 12, 2016:

"... In 1996, after Bob Dole released all of his health records and challenged the president to do the same, the White House released 11 pages of letters from doctors summarizing laboratory tests. President Clinton sat down for a lengthy interview with Lawrence Altman of the New York Times, who was also a medical doctor. Bill Clinton told Altman he (did not) think of the interview as an invasion of privacy. (quote) The public has a right to know the condition of the (president s) health. (unquote)

Good for Bill Clinton. At this juncture I think it would inspire more confidence in HRC if she followed her husband and submitted a complete evaluation of her medical condition before she is elected in November. Let's not have another William Henry Harrison - he died after 31 days in office.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

strangerland, one thing you cant seem to grasp. lots and lots of people who arent right wingers do not support hillary.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Why was she not using her wheelchair? May need a few days if not weeks of bed rest.

2 ( +11 / -9 )

One candidate's physically ill, the other mentally. Pneumonia's curable, bigotry isn't.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a discussion in the DNC about possibly replacing her on the ticket.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

I wonder now if she can really handle the job, the video that was taken was by a bystander and the Hillary camp are NOT at all happy about this video coming out with her passing out and dropping a shoe. She was gone 90 min. The press was kept away and when that happens, of course questions will emerge. This is by no means a small incident, having the pneumonia at her age, very troubling.

2 ( +14 / -12 )

Hectic schedule ? She has the lightest itinerary of any presidential candidate of the last 30 years. I don't know what they thought would happen, when you travel in a medically equipped van eventually it is going to get noticed. Every time one of these incidents occurs note how calm and unconcerned the people were surrounding Hillary -- nobody acted surprised or alarmed. That tells us a lot. The Secret Service knows very well what her medical problem is and how she is likely to react.

2 ( +11 / -9 )

Lizz

I had thumbed up your side of beef comment. I'd agree with that.

For the level of personnel expecting and planning for how to handle a more serious event, I thought the behaviour of the staff showed just at what level they are at, by not reacting as you suggest. That's some serious-level detail

2 ( +2 / -0 )

the dems and republicans should make a deal: both sides choose new candidates for president. Everyone would breathe a huge of relief.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

I'd always heard that one of the reasons the U.S. Presidential election campaign is so long is to weed out those would-be presidents who can't handle the pace and pressure. It appears to be working.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

I think it is clear that Hillary has some ongoing health issues, but whether they are enough to prevent her from doing her job as president, I don't think anyone really knows apart from her doctors.

And yet it is strange to see the republicans make such a case for her to step down on this basis. Guess who steps in in the unlikely event Hillary steps down? The democratic party isn't just about Hillary, it concerns the idea to take America forward, not backward like the Republicans. So, yes Bernie Sanders would likely step in and get the nomination from the party. And he would get as many, if not more, voters behind the Democratic ideals. I certainly would vote for him, but then again I would vote for my neighbors cat over Donald Trump, cause I believe the cat can do a better job.

So.. bad news for Trump, he would instantly be 10 to 15 points behind. This medical speculation and witch-hunt against Clinton by the right wing media is surprising given their own objectives. But then again, they are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

I love how not being willing to fall for fear-based paranoia is 'missing the point'.

The point isn't being missed. It's being dismissed.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Do us all a favor, and cancel trying to be the next president.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

. Willib is talking about the next Hillary stumble and you jump to "bowing out". Even the odds and lessen the penalty to one week or two.

Personally, I don't believe this kind of incident with Hillary will be the last one. I'm not throwing any conspiracy theories out there, but I do believe there is something bigger going on with the woman, that's just my personal opinion, so even if she doesn't bow out, I do believe some kind of incident similar to this will happen again.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

1 and 3 never happened

You realize these things are part of the public record right? Number 1:

Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people.

Link: http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2015/06/16/donald-trump-transcript-our-country-needs-a-truly-great-leader/

And number 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX9reO3QnUA

2 only applies to accepting new immigrants

Nope:

Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on," a campaign press release said.

Link: https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-releases/donald-j.-trump-statement-on-preventing-muslim-immigration

Nothing there about immigrants. "A total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States."

As I said, no one needs to smear him, he smears himself. I just provided a transcript of what he said, a video of him doing what I said he did, and press release of his which he put out. These are not distorted at all - they are all directly from the source. No smearing going on - I've literally shown his own words and actions.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Seems kind of strange how many people are somehow trying to blame Trump for Hillary Clinton's health issues, which appear to be a lot more serious than the Clinton camp will admit. "Walking pneumonia" may not be all that serious, but the usual treatment for it is antibiotics and a few days rest until recovery and a person would be very foolish not to follow a doctor's advice, especially at Hillary Clinton's age. But why attempt to cover it up?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

As much as I hope to see a united bipartisan America, I can't deny that I'll feel some satisfaction at knowing just how much the right-wingers will be annoyed by the fact that this woman will be leading the country if/when she wins.

Having all but conceded that the United States is rapidly descending into the Socialist utopia that the Left has been dreaming of since at least President Wilson, I cannot deny that I will continue to feel a great deal of sadness over America's rapid economic, military, and social decline.

But what about Trump's health?

He is no spring chicken either but the last I noticed he hasn't been coughing up a lung every other day or passing out in 70 degree weather. Hillary is having obvious health problems while Trump is not. Hillary has had past neurological issues and appears prone to sickness. It's just common sense that she would garner more attention than Trump - at least at this point in time. Besides, Trump has made her health an issue and viola'! She accommodates him by not doing a better job of managing her sickness.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

sf2k, saying that Hillary Clinton has a bit of a cough

Try another lie? Never said these words.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

"Goldorak

That's the whole point of passing a physical. Which Clinton has. Thus she will only be out a while, but not long. Depends on one's constitution, at any age"

I get your point sf2k, it's a valid one. Probably didnt explain mine well. Imo it's not only about one's physical or mental fitness 'right now' but also what may happen to her and her entourage later on (doctors cant predict everything). Hillary or other 70yo may well be fine today and even during the next 4-5 years but chances are their partner/hubby/wife/own parents etc may not and these would no doubt impact president's professional life too (as it does ours). There is no zero-risk option but imo it's all about minimising it for what is again the most important, most demanding job on earth. .

Medical conditions can appear/deteriorate much faster later in life. o

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Lizz

Let me clarify as she wasn't walking properly. Here she is, tumbling into a van, still standing, sort of... This is a better video as it shows she would have been on the ground if not the help around her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1FqKpqcDtA

Pneumonia can cause dizziness. Not the best timing at all for her that's for sure! But I don't blame Clinton. I'm more impressed with the care she received. Very professional

1 ( +3 / -2 )

A Realist

Reading is free though. You didn't even need to go that far. Here's the 4th paragraph:

“She was put on antibiotics and advised to rest and modify her schedule. While at this morning’s event, she became overheated and dehydrated. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely,” Bardack said.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I think they'll get some traction with this one. They can say that they were talking about it first a long time ago. Of course none of them were talking about pneumonia, but the beauty of the bubble is what they leave out. Anyone who claimed any kind of health condition will say they were right, even if it was a completely unrelated illness.

What we need to do is take a look at the facts that will come out over the next few days.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Crazy Joe:

" 365 days on the road with non-stop events will catch up to the healthiest of people. "

Seriously? Do you have a reference for that sort of schedule? I thought Clinton was taking weekends off and has not given a press conference for 300 days (a luxury you can only afford if you have the press in you pocket). Are there 2 different Clintons out there?

1 ( +6 / -5 )

@papigiulio. I don't think so. It would be an unusual situation to say the least but possibilities include moving the election or renominating Sanders. I don't know but Trump would not simply be handed the presidency nor should he or anyone be.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Look on the bright side, Dems. We've finally found a woman's health issue the Repubs are concerned about.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Ike-in-Tokyo, that may come true literally!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

While I will not be voting for her, or the other guy, I have no issue with health in the case of a president. Remember, one of our best (or worst, depending on beliefs) was crippled with polio. My issue for both main party candidates lie in other, more ideological issues.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Amazing how Clinton has been WAY outspending Trump on the campaign, yet they are virtually tied. What gives?

It's the culmination of an amazing smear campaign.

Seriously, this one will be studied by political strategists for decades to come, both on how to enact such a campaign, and how to defend against one. Unfortunately Hillary has not been good at defending it at all. Obama has done much better though. So their strategies will likely be used as a point of comparison to see what and what not to do when you are the target of smears.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

But no one really cares what the GOP wants...

...and the smear campaign continues.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

NY Times initially reported Hillary's collapse as a stumble. Do they understand in that elite tower that YouTube video all over Twitter almost in real time showed a dramatic fainting collapse?

Apparently not.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

https://youtu.be/FVDyciOQCak (Hillary legs buckling)

I believe Hillary is done (out of this election) and Trump has won over a faltering competitor. It would have better if Hillary provided better competition, but she did the best she could and it seems the pathetic DNC rigged competition against Bernie Sanders wore her health out. It is truly the fault of her own Lib party.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

I believe Hillary is done (out of this election) and Trump has won over a faltering competitor.

Yes, and then please come back explain the logic behind all of this in a week or so.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

“Antibiotics can take care of pneumonia,” Axelrod wrote on Twitter. “What’s the cure for an unhealthy penchant for privacy that repeatedly creates unnecessary problems?”

https://www.yahoo.com/news/clinton-axelrod-pneumonia-penchant-for-privacy-152221868.html

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Pneumonia my pie hole. This woman is clearly too sick to be doing anything, let alone leading America. there is no way the public can trust her - even the feminists are put off by this.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Jumin, I agree that was a health issue, and it definitely impacted negatively on Reagans ability to make decisions. Health is an issue. Whoever becomes president must be able to handle a load of stress and be up to handling sleepless nights during crises, etc. Just look at how rapidly presidents age once theyre in office. If they dont go in with a good resevoir of health and vitality the result is a foregone conclusion.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Strangerland:

" As I've said, it's been an amazing smear campaign. "

I agree. Seeing the entire media corps smearing Trump and the Trumpeteers non-stop for months now has been a spectacle. Not that it was unexpected, on the degree to which they would crank it up.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Funny, the media for the longest have devoted time and time to trash Trump at any and EVER level. Case in point, even when Trump was being sympathetic to Hillary's sudden illness, he wished her well, but No, the MSM have to mock him and still can't stop harassing this guy. He didn't say anything off the cuff, snide or rude, so it doesn't matte what Trump does, the smear merchants will do whatever they can to make this man look bad, the only thing I find a bit of comfort is when I see the gap shrinking and that's a clear indicator people are fed up with this woman and tired of all her lies. Yes, last month, Trump was doing bad and a lot was his making, but even when he comes back to the center, the left just can't give him credit on anything. Smh!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

I wonder if she still is "upping her antihistamines" to combat pneumonia. Medical friends tell that is a very very unusual medication to say the least.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@strangerland:

" t's funny that you think a guy who publicly called mexicans rapists and murders, wanted to ban all muslims, and mocked handicapped people, needed smearing. He smeared himself. "

Except he did not. All you did here was demonstrate that you have not looked deeper into the issue than reading the smears in the DNC affiliated media.

Embarrassing, but alas not unsurprising.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

HCKpro:

" sf2k, saying that Hillary Clinton has a bit of a cough is like saying the Titanic hit a bit of an iceberg and now has a bit of damage on the side. "

That was another poster who said that, but LOL, yes. Just youtube for the videos of her various fainting, head tremors, coughing, and spitting-green-blobs episodes. If there was footage of Trump doing that, the press would be in a frenzy about it. And blood clots in the brain? Just imagine that.

The media bias is simply mind boggling.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Strangerland:

Thanks for demonstrating that I was right. Your quotes show that indeed you take your information from misleading talking points from the DNC controlled MSM, hook and sinker, without looking deeper.

Do I really have to point out to you how all 3 of your selected snippets are out of context and distorted? If I have to, I am wasting my time.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Clinton has to wait a few days anyway. Might be a great segue into employment sick leave rights and wages. Opponents will use a sunny day to trample on her so it really doesn't matter what happens to her. It's her opportunity now to parley it not them. "Speaking of getting sick while at work..." and laugh it off but also bring issues to the table. Compare diamond plated government plans with the average person. Let the JabberJays jabber on and if she can talk sensible things that will be the only thing remaining. Keep playing with the basket of despicables though and no one can tell anyone apart

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Maybe they were just doing their jobs, and are qualified to do them?

I don't doubt that. But she has a medical handler (seems like one of Bill' old SS agents?) which is the first clue. And if someone is healthy and suddenly passes out the reaction of those around the person is initially chaotic, they immediately lay the person down and try to assess what is going on. We don't see any of that with these various illness videos.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Who didn`t see this coming? Absolutely no pity for war hawks. Well, I guess Trump will clearly win now. Also not sorry to all of those who put there faith in losers.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Lizz

you've watched too many dramas. Video doesn't show Clinton on the ground, or being layed down or carted off. She was helped but walked of her own accord. That isn't chaotic.

Again, maybe she just has better care around her.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

The GOP and their followers really need to hit this hard in case there's no medical evidence of anything serious. The key is to promote as many different theories as possible, that way when the legitimate medical opinions come in they can get lost in the shuffle. They can use their far right wing arm to promote conspiracy theories in case she's OK, especially one saying that any medical professional who says she is OK is lying.

If they can publish enough speculation they might be able to get something like 30-40% of GOP followers to believe she is near death regardless of the final medical outcome.

The clock is ticking. Good luck. Let the speculation begin.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Hillary was "placed" in the awaiting van, and lost a shoe in the process. It's ridiculous to deny the seriousness of the situation. Her life is at risk.

It doesn't take a medical professional to recognize that the woman is in a serious condition. Her entourage affirms it by their presence.

As much as I despise Hillary as a politician, I don't wish her ill will. She needs to get real medical care.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-09-11/hillary-clinton-reportedly-suffers-medial-episode-rushed-away-ground-zero-fox-news

0 ( +6 / -6 )

It's pretty sad how she struggled to not make a scene by propping herself on a security barrier. As soon as she tried to move into the van she staggered and collapsed. The secret service on either side of her had to hold her up and move her into the van. Hillary is not well. She is prone to long bouts of coughing, had a blood clot due to a concussion that caused her to have extended memory issues, and she is wobbly climbing stairs.

Both of these candidates are too old. Can the American people get a mulligan this year and have both parties go into a smoke filled room and give us two substitute candidates? Two months is plenty of time for a do over.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

What kind of a doctor would not at least prescribe rest for a patient suffering from pneumonia? This story sounds as phony as a three dollar bill.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Uh-huh, the more people speculate, the more suspecious and more concerned they will become if she is up for the job or not.

If they can publish enough speculation they might be able to get something like 30-40% of GOP followers to believe she is near death regardless of the final medical outcome.

Whatever helps, that's fine with me.

The clock is ticking. Good luck. Let the speculation begin.

Yes, you are right, however, the more they try to hide, the more it puts her in a box, which is fine by me.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

For all the bravado, Im sure the dems regret choosing Hillary as their candidate. Will Hillary finally do the right thing and step aside? Dont hold your breath.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Laguna, this is somewhat unprecedented - a presidential candidates health deteriorating on the campaign trail. and its not just this latest event in hillarys case. Think campaigning is tough? - what if shes in the oval office with the weight of the world on her shoulders.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Okay, Outrider, I agree with your premise but not your specific conclusion. Hillary has maintained a grueling schedule for decades. During this campaign, as Trump appears at a single event a day and inevitably flies back to NY on his 757 to spend the night at Trump Tower, Hillary appears at multiple events and sleeps on the road.

Now, official word is that this is "walking pneumonia," which makes sense as those with allergies are more susceptible to it, and it is autumn. If she recovers in a few days and resumes her heretofore grueling schedule, that should be proof enough that her health is not an issue. If not, well, we liberals will be forced to take this into account.

At the moment, though, you have nothing, and I fear that many on the right will never let this go, whatever the evidence. Let's face it, there is ample precedent for this.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

I'd always heard that one of the reasons the U.S. Presidential election campaign is so long is to weed out those would-be presidents who can't handle the pace and pressure. It appears to be working.

It sure is, look how many gaffes Trump has made. If the campaign were only a month or two, none of us would have realized just how racist and clueless he is, nor how little policy he actually has developed.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Boy, look at all these comments. Frequent flying. Those planes. That would drop anyone. That reconditioned air. Gross.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

@samwatters

Thanks for the explanation :)

0 ( +2 / -2 )

It is clear that Clinton will not be able to handle that. She will demand seating, comfortable cushions, and frequent toilet breaks.

I was not aare that the US president was not allowed to sit, sit in comfortable chairs or go to the restroom. I am surprised anyone would want the job.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

So she was diagnosed on Friday and despite all the questions and speculation about her health, her campaign kept it quiet for two days until video of her collapsing showed up? And then they kept the press away for almost 2 hours with no explanation, despite them having this diagnoses for two days? Just who do they expect to believe this spin control?

And how smart do you have to be to understand that if you have walking pneumonia and the forecast is for 80's and humid, that a long-sleeve pantsuit is not an appropriate way to dress.

Can you remember 8 years ago when the press obsessed about McCains health? How times have changed.

Did McCain every pass out in public? Have a persistent cough? Different person, different set of facts, different response.

What would happen if Clinton would be too sick to run? Would Trump automatically be the winner?

No, as Trump and Clinton are not the only two candidates.

but possibilities include moving the election

No, that is not a possibility. Federal law requires the election to be on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

not to find out who has the best policy, but who has the most physical endurance.

Both are important issues to consider when electing a President.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Strangeland:

" The priorities of the right are baffling. "

This "right"-"left" stereotype is so outdated. In this case, the issue is more globalist intervention, statism and corruption, or not. And this cuts across the old-fashioned party lines.

backstcratcher:

" I was not aare that the US president was not allowed to sit "

Neither was I. Did anybody say that? I pointed out the debates have always been standing. The debates between candidates, not presidents. Have you seen one that was not?

I predict this will become an issue soon. Wait and see.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Clinton would do better work than Trump even if she were comatose.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Clinton would do better work than Trump even if she were comatose

What is this blind following? Are you really serious or simply mouthing off something to portray some kind of contribution to the discourse? None of these 'candidates' meet the criteria for good leadership. None!!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

This "right"-"left" stereotype is so outdated.

The left-right divide has never been more pronounced at any time in history as it is now.

If only it were outdated, we would have bipartisan cooperation and coordination, instead of one party smearing the other for years on end.

If you were diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday would you go to your daughters house where your newborn grandchild is on Sunday ? Either it's not pneumonia or its poor judgement. Poor enough to not be president.

Amazing how Clinton has been WAY outspending Trump on the campaign, yet they are virtually tied. What gives?

And this is interesting: "Is Clinton's 'deplorable' comment like Romney's 47% moment?" ( The Woodhouse brothers debate! ) ( Fox News )

0 ( +4 / -4 )

It is amazing how Trump has been smeared by the Clinton campaign

No one needs to smear trump, he does so with his own words and actions.

what is your definition of smear,

Well lets start with the two easy ones:

1) Going on about Benghazi, even after multiple investigations by multiple committees, including Republican committees have found absolutely no wrongdoing whatsoever

2) Going on about the emails and how there must be a big conspiracy theory, even after the FBI investigation found she hadn't done anything illegal

And hey, why not throw in a couple more goodies for fun:

1) Claiming she kissed a KKK member, even though he had spent 70 years repenting for his KKK actions

2) Claiming she laughed about getting a rapist off of charges for raping a 12 year old girl

And now here comes the "but it's all true" post. To which I'm going to reply '...and the smear campaign continues'.

@Serrano, thank you It is worse than flu then. .

Yes! I am game! What exactly do you predict for one week from now? Hillary Clinton without her "scoobyvan" ambulance, without Oladokun Okonula with his epipen, with a long press conference without and coughing fits, without any support cushions, and without any stumbling and epileptic fits? I am game! Isn´t there some betting site where we can arrange this?

You can arrange it right here. Within a week, if she is not out of the race due to health issues, you are gone from this site for six months. However, if she decides to withdraw or is forced out by her party, then I will bow out for six months.

Bet?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Yes, the bet is on

Kindly explain

. Willib is talking about the next Hillary stumble and you jump to "bowing out". Even the odds and lessen the penalty to one week or two.

Goodnight

Willib is talking about the next Hillary stumble and you jump to "bowing out". Even the odds and lessen the penalty to one week or two.

Given that absentee ballots have already been sent out in some states and per Bush v. Gore selective revoting has been abolished I don't know what would happen if she did withdraw but the lawsuits would tie up the courts for a century... It would pretty much be a complete catastrophe both politically and legally for the party, and the country.

If she can't handle the rigors of campaigning (even with a light schedule), why does anyone think she can handle the job of President? Just look at how much Obama aged in 8 years. 'Sure she's sick now, but she'll get better once she has the most demanding and stressful job in the world' doesn't cut it.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Well, if Hillary goes to the great beyond, she will still win the election, and I'm sure Joe Biden or Tim Kaine will be able to annoy Republicans on her behalf.

He smeared himself.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Seems kind of strange how many people are somehow trying to blame Trump for Hillary Clinton's health issues

I haven't seen this anywhere. Who has blamed Trump for Hillary's health? Do you have some links and/or quotes?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Not to make the case that Hillary is unfit because she was sick, this story is a valid story and its a valid election year issue. The heath of the candidate is always a topic of interest in an election year. Her passing out and being stuffed into a van to be zoomed of for medical help is not sexism but a legit issue. Those trying to play the gender card in order to stop such discourse are in fact the sexist in this argument. If you don't agree, just flip the script and imagine who the press would cover Trump passing out during a public event?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Those trying to play the gender card in order to stop such discourse are in fact the sexist in this argument.

It's called a double standard. The Left has gotten so radical since Obama has taken office that covering Trump much more harshly in a similar situation would simply be called journalism. But treating Hillary by the same standard is called misogynistic. Their rationale is that Trump is a white male and therefore evil and deserving of the media's thrashing. Times have changed - it is what it is.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I am not a fan of HRC or Trump, but I do hope that Citizens United vs. the People can get overturned in any case. Few people seem concerned about this case which has had a major impact on US politics (for the worse), unless you are in the 1%.

"It was not yet clear whether Clinton would stick to a hectic schedule that has her travelling to California on Monday for several campaign and fundraising events"

She should take it easy and cancel those California campaign and fundraising evernts - after all, she has a lock on California, right? Plus she already has millions of dollars for Trump-bashing ads.

Let's leave this one to the doctors and I assume by reading some of the posts above, we have some doctors posting here today. I always thought doctors tended not to make a diagnosis without examining the patient but maybe I'm wrong about this.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

She was helped but walked of her own accord. That isn't chaotic.

It wasn't obviously because the people around her know she has a problem and are not freaked out by another incident. As law enforcement eyewitnesses put it she was “thrown into her van like a side of beef” and then taken to an undisclosed location, probably a private hospital for observation.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Lizz

I don't think it was that they knew she would had a problem but something that was already a part of her detail. I think it was extra detail put on her after the Trump Fatwa on her life. That probably upped the security detail a bit more than usual. So contingency plans for her being shot would have been easily rejigged for a quick health emerg

" Clinton, 68, was diagnosed on Friday but her condition only came to light several hours after a video on social media appeared to show her swaying and her knees buckling before being helped into a motorcade as she left the memorial early Sunday. "

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

I have no idea if any of that is true or not, but it appears you'd rather the debates be structured in a manner not to find out who has the best policy, but who has the most physical endurance.

The priorities of the right are baffling. I suppose that's why almost all of the right's campaign has not been based on what they can and will do, but rather on smearing their opponent.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

She will campaign in Vegas area. Here, temp will be about 110 + f for a while. Her cough might stop. Inside of building, we wear sweaters. Hope she will recover soon. If she can't walk well, she can get a walker than wheelchair. Moore republicans here but we like her better than Trump.

This is actually true to some degree. A lot on the left have become radical in response to the right's smear campaign against Obama and anything liberal.

It's too bad really, as setting the bar at the republican level just means going down to their level.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Love these right-wing comments. Talk about grasping at straws. Anything that comes up - ANYTHING - suddenly becomes the cause de jour, and this is precisely so they can avoid discussing policy and the reason why Trump is doing so abysmally in his quest of a winning electoral bloc.

For most Americans, this will blow over in a few days, but for right-wingers, it will last far longer than her pneumonia.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Love these right-wing comments. Talk about grasping at straws. Anything that comes up - ANYTHING - suddenly becomes the cause de jour, and this is precisely so they can avoid discussing policy and the reason why Trump is doing so abysmally in his quest of a winning electoral bloc.

Policy? Do the Democrats or specifically Hillary have a policy on anything besides, duck and evade?

For most Americans, this will blow over in a few days, but for right-wingers, it will last far longer than her pneumonia.

No, it'll blow over for most Hillary supporters that could care less if she skinned a cat, but for most Americans, people are rightfully concerned and it's good to be concerned. The Dems are just angry because a bystander caught on camera how she slipped and the SS had to catch her and her shoe came off, it was just a terrible thing to witness.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

This is not surprising at all. She has not looked well for a while. Although I am not voting for her (or Trump either for that matter) I do hope she gets better but she really looks unwell, which is sad. What may happen as a result of this is Mr. Trump may become the next President, which I find very troubling.

Neither campaign is being at all transparent. Trump appears to have some serious issues (or he would release tax records/financial information) and Ms. Clinton appears to be quite ill as this has been going on for a while now.

All of this is speculation (from both sides) but Americans do not have enough information on either matter to make an informed choice about who they wish to elect (although many have already made up their mind) and this is the real tragedy. Now the so called "mainstream media" in the U.S. is starting to ask questions (reporter from NY times and Washington Post) and these reporters, who are merely asking about her health (not speculating) are being trashed by Ms. Clinton's campaign and other members of the media. That is a bit concerning.

What would be good to see happen (but of course will not) is Americans of both parties rising up in unison and calling on both candidates to open up and let us see who we are electing (hiring). Unfortunately reading the comments on this message board and other web sites this will not happen.

I wish Ms. Clinton well and hope she recovers but her health troubles have been going on for a while. It is nice that she could go to her daughter's home after this, which is probably very comforting.

Laguna, if your acquaintance posted something like that it is disgusting. Ms. Clinton is exhibiting some characteristics of one with Parkinsons, which is a terrible debilitating disease. My aunt has Parkinsons and it is awful and I certainly hope she (Clinton) does not have it but whatever is happening to Ms. Clinton shows alot of the same characteristics of one with this terrible disease. That is probably where the speculation (and yes, it is only speculation) is coming from.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

What would happen if Clinton would be too sick to run? Would Trump automatically be the winner?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The upcoming debates will be interesting. I understand that traditionally, the candidates have been standing for them. I is clear that Clinton will not be able to handle that. She will demand seating, comfortable cushions, and frequent toilet breaks. The mainstream media will support her (just imagine if the Trump campaign made special demands...). It will be interesting to see if she gets away with it.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The priorities of the right are baffling. I suppose that's why almost all of the right's campaign has not been based on what they can and will do, but rather on smearing their opponent

And yet not all people that call out hillary for her ability to skirt responsibility fall into the 'right' category. Myself being one of those.

Truth is this time around, the choice is between what poison kicks in faster. No choice at all there. Why I wonder are third parties frowned upon? The two party shtick is adhered to almost religiously only to repeat the cycle of disappointment. I honestly don't see what anyone has to lose seeing as either way, with these two buffoons, we're doomed if we do, doomed if we don't!!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Why I wonder are third parties frowned upon?

Call it corporate media and the CPD: Commission on Presidential Debates

It's no secret the CDP is controlled by reps and Dems, and both actively work to keep third party candidates out of the debates. Since most Americans tune into the debates to make a decision, 3rd parties are locked out. Look what Hillary did to Sanders? Of course they do the same to the 3rd party too. Disgusting what they did to Nader. Ross Perot will probably be the last 3rd party person in any debates and that was 1992.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Hillary gonna hit into da whitehouse or die tryin!

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Pneumonia. What is that? Worse than stroke? Or some kind of cold?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

2) Going on about the emails and how there must be a big conspiracy theory, even after the FBI investigation found she hadn't done anything illegal

No that is wrong. They found she did do things that were illegal but claim it was by mistake so then it is OK.

To which I'm going to reply '...and the smear campaign continues'.

To which the correct reply is '...and the cover-up campaign continues'.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Look on the bright side, Dems. We've finally found a woman's health issue the Repubs are concerned about.

Wow - Republicans don't want women to be healthy? Even female Republicans? And all this time I thought it was about aborting perfectly healthy children (about half of which are female by the way).

Sure there are hard core people on either side who do not wish either politician well. Heck it wasn't that long ago that people were celebrating Margaret Thatchers death. I don't think Hillary's health will matter much in the election. It could possibly depress the vote on her side a bit. Or conversely it could bring forth a sympathy vote - who knows. Regardless, the Dems have Kaine in reserve should she need to drop out for health reasons. It might actually be best for the Dems (and the country) if Kaine were to take over. I know, he is one of those hated white males, but he isn't anywhere close to being as polarizing as Hillary is. Then Americans would just need to find a way to get Trump to drop out and the country could breathe a sigh of relief.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

getting sick isn't her fault. How she handles it after feeling better she can get into woman's health issues, healthcare for everyone, and workers compensation for time off. Lots of ways to emphasize issues out of this.

Righties crocodile tears have no bearing on anything, obviously

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Outrider:

Perhaps you're right, but I forgot to mention the other great (or bad, depending) president - Ronald Reagan. During a good portion of his second term he had dementia. I think that may be classified as a health issue rather than a disability.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

It's funny that you think a guy who publicly called mexicans rapists and murders, wanted to ban all muslims, and mocked handicapped people, needed smearing.

1 and 3 never happened, and 2 only applies to accepting new immigrants which is perfectly rational. But yes, a smear campaign by distorting and taking statements out of context, like you just did, has been conducted for months now.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

oooh, thats icky....

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Except he did not. All you did here was demonstrate that you have not looked deeper into the issue than reading the smears in the DNC affiliated media.

Oh, you must have missed my other post, where I backed up exactly what I claimed, with a transcript of his speech calling Mexicans exactly that, a press release from his campaign saying they wanted to ban all muslims, and a video of him mocking handicapped people. All unadulterated, meaning zero smear, and zero spin.

Here are the links for your reference:

First his quote on Mexicans

Link: http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2015/06/16/donald-trump-transcript-our-country-needs-a-truly-great-leader/

Next, his press release on banning Muslims:

Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on," a campaign press release said.

Link: https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-releases/donald-j.-trump-statement-on-preventing-muslim-immigration

And finally, him mocking a handicapped person: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX9reO3QnUA

And for good measure, my summary I posted previously:

As I said, no one needs to smear him, he smears himself. I just provided a transcript of what he said, a video of him doing what I said he did, and press release of his which he put out. These are not distorted at all - they are all directly from the source. No smearing going on - I've literally shown his own words and actions

Sorry Zaphod, but seeing as I posted the source on all of those, I have shown that not only have I looked deeper into the issue than reading the 'smears' in the 'DNC afflicted media', I have shown that you haven't looked into the issue any deeper than the lies your right-wing MSM is telling you.

Embarrassing. And not unsurprising.

Mike O´Brian:

" Did McCain every pass out in public? Have a persistent cough? Different person, different set of facts, different response. "

Nope, none of these things. Neither did he need support cushions and endless toilet breaks. Yet, the "unbiased" press pondered endlessly if he was suitable for the job, given his age and rumours about a melanoma. Perhaps you forgot?

That why I asked what had changed. But you can guess that was rethorical...

I'm curious, what is your definition of smear, especially when it involves Hillary?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Clinton is dead in the water. For weeks her health has been suspect and in her position she would have received the best treatment and drugs money can buy and yet despite this she is too unwell to carry on? There is no doubt she has underlying poor health and should retire from the race as it seems she is only there on the female ticket to appeal to the feminine vote as Obama was only there to appeal to the minority vote and that worked twice.

I don't have an opinion of people who don't love Hillary, I have an opinion of people who do love Rump.

And believe it or not, I don't think that many of them, if not most, are bad people. I think a lot of them are just frustrated with the way things have been over the past two presidencies, and want change. But I also think that the fact that they think Don the Con is a better alternative shows a serious lack of intelligence. It's like saying 'I hate it when the bathroom stinks after taking a dump, so instead I'm just going to do it on the bedroom floor'. Sure, the bathroom won't smell anymore...

goldorak

That's the whole point of passing a physical. Which Clinton has. Thus she will only be out a while, but not long. Depends on one's constitution, at any age.

Appyling ageism generally isn't how to handle medical advice, medical advice is.

Actually this brings up Trump's health records even more as he basically got a rushed doctor's note, not an actual physical. He could be having blood transfusions on his plane for all we know haha

At any rate it is emphirical evidence that is the only way to handle questions of ability. Applying a blanket generalization to someone based on Ageism isn't any more value than race or religion, hence why it's in the list of do-not's.

If they can do the job, then they'll do it. USA elections are crazy long. Even countries that have run off systems would probably be done by now
