@Mennonite Maiden

Love the false equivalencies, going back to 414 AD to justify the actions of the worst sex criminals on the planet, ISIS. You know they round up all the "unbeliever" women and sell them, don't you?

@WillB ... ISIS represents 100% pure, fundamentalist, unadulterated, Sunni islam. Which is precisely why they attract to so many fanatical believers. You can dislike them, but you can not argue against them on religious grounds.

You appear to have allied yourself with ISIS - "you can not argue against them on religious grounds". Just what they need as weapon against the majority of Sunni Muslims who argue against them on religious grounds.

Whose side are you on?

"President Barack Obama confirmed Kassig’s slaying after a U.S. review of the video, which also showed the mass beheadings of a dozen Syrian soldiers."

The One hath declared it thus and so it must be. Questions not tolerated'. Free speech only in agreement with the official agenda. The Dominators enforce toeing the party line.

When fighting against a madman you will have to do whatever you can to protect the ones you love.

Mennonite MaidenNov. 17, 2014 - 05:39PM JST I'm deeply sorry for the loss of this innocent human being but it is WAR and WAR means ENDLESS DEATHS OF INNOCENT MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN!!!

In most wars the innocent are killed because they are either in harms way or are put in harms way by forces a.k.a. human shields. But, in this case the innocent are being butchered just because they are there.

This isn't a war, this is genocide.

Mennonite MaidenNov. 17, 2014 - 05:39PM JST No matter how many empty excuses and measly explanations Americans and their allies try to give..it all comes down to the same outcome...

The US had nothing to do with what ISIS had done. They would have done it anyways. When you are dealing with fanatical religious psychopaths they will do things like this.

Your kind of thinking is exactly what led to the Rwandan genocide. The US and it's allies took the very stance you are advocating and over 500,000 people were slaughtered. You believe that war isn't the way, but you are forgetting that ISIS doesn't believe like you do.

Mennonite MaidenNov. 17, 2014 - 05:39PM JST MORE DEATHS no matter what.

Tell that to all those that have been butchered by ISIS. I think if they could they would disagree with you.

Mennonite MaidenNov. 17, 2014 - 05:39PM JST What its gonna take for the U.S. to be stopped once and for all?

Ohm, that's an easy answer, ISIS whipped from the face of the world. You may dislike what the military does, but I am certain that the folks fighting against ISIS would strongly disagree with you.

Mennonite MaidenNov. 17, 2014 - 05:39PM JST I know most people call these Middle East folk "beasts" and what not but you know what? They've been killing each other for over a millennia...so let them!!

Just one world to counter your view, Rwanda.

Mennonite MaidenNov. 17, 2014 - 05:39PM JST If these Islamic Extremists and Radicals want to keep butchering each other, that's something they choose to do. We have zero reason to be meddling and disturbing their affairs...ALL it will bring is more and more beheading videos ans endless suffering. It ain't worth it.

It is worth it, believe it or not many Western fighters are right there fighting for ISIS. They are the kids next door that used to play ball with other kids. But then they became "true Muslims" and began to follow an Orthodox Islam. They gave up all vices and followed others who are like them to fight for ISIS and other terrorist groups.

When the fighting is done most of them have pledged to return home and bring their Jihad to their neighborhoods. Translation: They want to bring their war home. This means that they will start to butcher innocent civilians in their neighborhoods because they want everyone to convert or die.

So, if the US and their allies hadn't started bombing these psychopaths over there you would be in harms way.

If peace were the answer there would be no wars.

I am American. I have been saying to my friends and family that America should stop trying help others nations. who Don't want our help. If Isis want to rule the world or if they want make themselves look good they making a poor job of it. I wonder if we stop paying these folks so must attention. Maybe they gave. up knowing they we ask to much from fools that have hearts or souls.

I think you US haters are missing the fact that this was an AID WORKER. People that attack aid workers deserve to starve to death, and maybe they will before this is over.

Apparently the next ISIS hostage in line after Kassig is an American 26-year old female, see here:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/11/16/a-26-year-old-woman-is-isis-s-last-american-hostage.html

My prediction is that they will not behead here on camera. Instead, she will be converted to islam (Sunni, of course), and be married off to an ISIS jihadi. Wait for it.

Mennonite:

" If these Islamic Extremists and Radicals want to keep butchering each other, that's something they choose to do. We have zero reason to be meddling and disturbing their affairs.. " I would agree with that, but that is not the whole picture. You might have noticed that ISIS Sunnis not only kill Shiites, they also kill any Christians, Yazidis, Druzes, Mandeans and others they come across. And the Islamic State does not simply claim the current territory in Syria and Iraq, if you look at their map, you will see that their intended Caliphate extends as far as Spain and India. (And ultimately, of course, the whole world.

And any pacifist Mennonites they come across will have the choice between a) converting to Sunni islam and b) death.

You are quite correct when you said they would behead you. You are quite wrong when you claim that Jihadism is a local phenomenon that has no plans for pacifists like you. That is pure wishful thinking.

Mennonite Maiden:

" The above quoted from the article made me think deeply and I'm proud of who I am. I'm proud of the way I was brought up. Never to take part or join any military force under any circumstances. Everything that's happening right now is because of War. "

Because of "war"? No, it is because GWB removed Saddam in Iraq, and Obama weakened Assad in Syria, and so we have religious extremists filling the void.

ISIS is fundamentally a Sunni movement fighting against Shiite domination (and killing Yazidis, Christians, and any surviving Mennoites in the region in the process.

And if you think that either Sunnis or Shia are impressed by Mennonite pacifics, you really should start thinking again.

SushiSake3:

" Meanwhile, US and otter allied forces have killed thousands and displaced millions, many of whom have been attacked, abused, killed by mistake "

I agree that a lot of Western involvement in the Middle East has been tragically wrong, but if you suggest that without that, there would be peace in the region, you are in dreamland.

Or is the Iran-Iraq war with its half a million casualties "peace" in your mind? Or the Saddams genocide against the Kurds (look up Halabdja).

Blaming the West alone for Middle Eastern tribal warfare is pure phantasy.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"With Kassig’s death, the Islamic State group has killed five Westerners it was holding"

Meanwhile, US and otter allied forces have killed thousands and displaced millions, many of whom have been attacked, abused, killed by mistake, seen their family members attacked and abused in front of them, had bombs dropped on their heads......

And this beheading is news?

That's just ridiculous.  Stunning hypocrisy from the west...

-4 ( +2 / -7 )

Dabiq, a town in northern Syria that the Islamic State group uses as the title of its English-language propaganda magazine and where they believe an apocalyptic battle between Muslims and their enemies will occur.

I think we should oblige them. Kill 'em, Kill 'em all!

Mennonite Maiden:

" What its gonna take for the U.S. to be stopped once and for all? I know most people call these Middle East folk "beasts" and what not but you know what? "

In case you missed it, the US is not involved in the current ISIS conflict, apart from some p1npr1ck bombing. And nobody here called Middle East folk "beasts" --- you made that up.

And by the way, if you think your radical pacifism would count in your favour with ISIS, just look at what happened to the Yazidis.

Nobody really cares about their shock videos anymore

@bass4funk It says that he was abducted last year. I would agree that anyone going into Syria now has a death wish, but last year everyone thought the Free Syrian Army was on the verge of success (haha).

" By the way, if Al Baghdadi follows the Haddiths to the letter, why are the majority of Muslims around the world condemning his actions? "

Those who do obviously don´t follow the haddiths to the letter. By the way, I do not see any great demonstrations against the ISIS state in the Sunni world; certainly nothing compared to what we see when there is a Mohammed cartoon or when Israel bombs Hamas tunnels in Gaza.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

WilliB, thank you for the update.

I was only aware of the al-Nusra front having made a truce with IS.

By the way, if Al Baghdadi follows the Haddiths to the letter, why are the majority of Muslims around the world condemning his actions?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

More proof that the Messianic age is no where in sight. Until people live as people together in a humane way, there will be no progress forward as a world people.

" Al Baghdadi is a cult leader who believes that extreme barbarity and bloodthirst are tools on the way forward. Even al-Qaida were allegedly shocked at his unnecessary cruelty. "

Al Baghdadi follows the Haddiths to the letter. And you must have missed that Al Quaeda now recognizese and approves of the Islamic State.

I'd like to see these so-called stats. I'm guessing that a very, very tiny percentage of those who go to help have this problem. Not the high probability stated here:

Only a complete fool, would even think about putting themselves in that kind of situation.

Al Baghdadi is a cult leader who believes that extreme barbarity and bloodthirst are tools on the way forward. Even al-Qaida were allegedly shocked at his unnecessary cruelty.

Saddam would not have tolerated him for a minute.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Stats show you will be imprisoned and used as a political pawn.

I'd like to see these so-called stats. I'm guessing that a very, very tiny percentage of those who go to help have this problem. Not the high probability stated here:

Very high probablity your will be killed or used as political bait.

-2 ( +2 / -5 )

A barbaric act by Islamists against yet another American citizen. That must means it's time for Obama to hit the golf course.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Sorry, cant feel too bad for this guy and others who go there to "help" They know what they are getting into. Very high probablity your will be killed or used as political bait. Just like the people who go to North Korea to visit or help. Stats show you will be imprisoned and used as a political pawn.

He was a genuinely fervent Muslim, and yet they killed him.

Let's be very clear about this.

ISIS/ISIL KILLS TRUE MUSLIMS DELIBERATELY, for political and ethnic reasons. Politics overrule Allah and the tenets of Islam.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Too bad for this young man who might had a good motivation, but playing the wrong game with the poisonous snake of Muslim extremist. Anythings go to advance Islamic cause similar to jihad, according to their belief; which has no place in the modern area. But many are willing to revive the old age of darkness under pretext of Allah who favor them to conquer the world. For what, and what kind of world would it be, and kind of God they worshiping????

4 ( +5 / -1 )

ISIS is showing their power. Like Bin Ladin said: when people see a weak horse and a strong horse, they bet on the strong horse. ISIS is demonstrating that they are the strong horse.

-9 ( +2 / -10 )

Hate to sound like a typical American, but we should drop 1000 bombs on militants for every person they murder like this. Maybe 10,000 bombs.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Defies logic. Still think West should just leave these thugs alone. Pity is that there will always be kind hearted people who want to go and help and put themselves in harms way.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The man converted and still those animals butchered him. They deserve no mercy, hope more bombs keep landing on them.

Western nations need to find all radicals and folks that support ISIS' views and deport them. Or just toss them in Gitmo!
