This is a problem. Trump needs to respond.
And the timing sure seems odd with the Trump/Un meeting coming up.

Perhaps Xi is showing he's a much better ‘deal maker’ than Trump. Xi’s probably willing to trade off North Korea in return for further expansion in Pacific and Indian Ocean regions.
Xi knows Trump wants to take credit for anything positive happening in North Korea, and he’s willing to let that happen if China can get what it wants elsewhere.
After Un and Moon, is Xi the most important person in getting North and South Korea to this point?

I doubt that will even come into the equation.
I think so, but that, only in a wet dream.
Not entirely, the talks would have never gotten to this point had Trump not been overly aggressive and unrelenting on Kim as well as the sanctions and draining all of his financial reserves, brilliant, backed into a corner, classic.

And who didn't see this coming?

Are these the same intelligence sources that claimed Saddam had anthrax bombs and WMDs, that Assad used poison gas in Douma and that claimed Putin organized the Skirpal "novichok" attack in Salisbury?

Standard aggressive Chinese behavior, unilaterally occupy a disputed location, claim "sovereignty" over it, refuse to recognize international law that counters it's claims, then fortify it so no one will try to take it away.

This is what happens when you allow these things to develop.
Just notice how China’s position on these “islands” has changed over the past 4 years: first the dubious territorial claims, then secret reclamation work and building, then denial of military intent, then secret military construction, then acknowledgement of military intent and assertion of sovereignty, now aggressive military expansion and threats.
This has continued every day for the past 4 or so years.

Liberals: Trump do something!!!! (While at same time obstructing his agenda at every turn and distracting him with Mueller nonsense).
Didnt this also begin under Obama administration?

"Those who don't intend to violate (this sovereignty) have no reason to worry", she said.
But nobody was violating it before because this vast area is recognized as free and open international air and water ways and vitally important for the sovereignty of many other countries. The only violator is China by setting up these military bases all over the South China Sea.

I’m sure we have nothing to worry about with CHYNAH and their missles! :-/

The creation of an artificial island does not confer any territorial rights over the surrounding waters. The unelected Chinese dictators should comply with international law.

If ground-to-ground, they are offensive and will lead to corresponding missile development in Vietnam an the Philippines. If surface-to-air, they are inconsequential. In either case. these islet fortifications are useless in a military sense. They must cost a lot of money, though.

Useless? China would just love to shoot down some US Navy surveillance planes or deny access to the SCS airspace and declare ADIZ over some of the busiest airspace in SEA.

China has dug in now and cant be budged in the South China Sea. It is an example of what it will do to the Senkaku's if Japan does not do it first while it has the opportunity. Once China does the same and digs in on the Islands in the East China sea it will mean war to get them off.
Japan better move fast. Just remember that China can build a 12 story building in 48 hours. They have mastered fast construction. Time is running out. As china gets stronger militarily it gets bolder and more arrogant. If Japan is serious that they have sovereignty over the Senkaku's then they better show it by building on them.

So China is militarizing too outside its borders

China has become a power to reckon with, economically, politically and militarily. With Xi-Mao the Second at the helm this bodes major global conflicts that won't serve anyone in the long run. China's economic power will erode in the not too far future as the Chinese people demand a larger piece of the pie: better living conditions. Setting up foreign factories for its cheap labor is then no longer an option. Add to that technology theft and total disregard of international standards and agreements concerning trade and territorial issues and Beijing will have to adopt a different tune from its assertively provocative standard 'our sovereignty' one.

Reclaiming the land did. China put the missiles on the island after Trump arrived.

Ah, but landing strips, air bases, radar and communications systems, naval facilities, etc., were also being built during Obama's administration. The missile installation is the final installation.
You guys are just as much in denial as Obama was and looked the other way when warned the construction had offensive military implications.
The construction timing of the Chinese base is consistent with the China's plans to attack/invade/annex Taiwan by 2020. The base is close enough to Taiwan to launch amphibious invasion forces and attack bombers and missiles.

What is suspicious is that after Kim met with Xi is that all of sudden Kim is willing to talk denuclearization and have summit meetings with Moon and Trump to discuss peace and unification. I don't doubt for a moment that Xi has instructed Kim to distract and divert attention away from China's activities in the China Seas and Taiwan.
While the world is focused on the Korean summit meetings and peace talks, China quickly and quietly invade Taiwan and annex it.
