If the CCP weren't such a bunch of bullies trying to spread their totalitarian Communist agenda against Taiwan, the Orient/East Asia and the Pacific then this wouldn't be a problem whatsoever. But look at what the CCP did to HK, reneging on a promise. Remember Tiananmen Square in 1989. Therefore the CCP China has zero right whatsoever to say anything about the free independent nation of Taiwan, or anything else for that matter.
Shut up, Xi!

I fully agree! I went there earlier this year and so have some of my friends. Everybody loved it there. Great food, great shopping, great sight seeing, nice people, etc., etc. Can't say enough good things about it!

what kind of conference and what is goal of that conference?
to provoke China?

Typical CCP subversion and interference tactics in play. They say they want peaceful unification with Taiwan but do nothing positive to achieve that. Force and coercion is all they know and that has the opposite effect for their goal.
CCP actions destroy any hope for peaceful joining, and make Taiwan hold on tighter to their independence. CCP also alienate other nations with their despicable tactics.

I believe this to be the CCP approach to taking Taiwan. Once Taiwan is isolated politically , diplomatically, and isn’t recognized, it will politically, diplomatically and internationally seen as a non country and by default be absorbed into China.China will use its economic clout to put pressure with carrots and sticks on everyone. I still think the way to go is offer the Taiwanese a referendum NOT on independence, but on Reuniting with China. Not a one China policy which I think was a political and economic mistake by the USA et al, but a ONE TAIWAN policy where China once it becomes a democratic society, hold a referendum on join Taiwan. This should say it clearly Taiwan doesn’t want independence (CCP red line) but say it doesn’t want to come under the communist China authority.
we can see how China has taken over the China sea cause we allowed China to build, as did Vietnam, Philippines and as we chased cheap goods, access to their markets, while China’s dictators were playing another game. Linger was wrong think the Chinese middle class would want democracy after getting rich. They just want a quiet life. Since when did we support communist dictators for a quick buck or two.
im glad we’ve finally woken up but fear china is now an economic tiger too big to ignore.

Agree 100%.

Even if it were, that is their right in a free country.

The CCP is determined that the mainland never become democratic because it would be the end of their corrupt rule.
Outcome is already clear:

Raise that metaphorical middle finger to China. And then tell’em that they can metaphorically spin on it too.
And then go on that holiday to Taiwan.

There's nothing that sends the criminals in Beijing into a frenzy quite like interaction on official levels with the nation of Taiwan. Their ability to spread lies and have them accepted by the Chinese masses is truly an incredible (albeit evil) feat well aided by modern technology which is the opposite to what I had anticipated with the advent of the Internet and Mobile technologies like phones. My Chinese student lodger from Fujian recently informed me that Social Media in China is littered with what he referred to as Taiwanese pleading for China to reunify them. Obviously this is the very likely work of CCP pot-stirrers spreading the message so that when the invasion occurs they can more easily spin the "we are rescuing them" lie to the Chinese masses. This guy's 23 years old and only ever heard rumours about the Tiananmen Square incident and those were that it was the work of Japanese. The CCP has really spread their lies very well in China and are continuously working on the rest of us.

Of COURSE they are

I totally agree. One thing that does worry me is when all the new chip production has moved to the US, Japan, etc. There would be no real economic reason to stand by Taiwan. I am sure China has seen how the US handled a blockade of Cuba, and how the UK dealt with the Falklands War with an exclusion zone. Those two situations are similar militarily, and once China has built up enough aircraft carriers, a naval air exclusion zone may be implemented. saying they don't want conflict, and its an internal matter, and the problem then is, how the US, Aus, Japan (who probably won't do much), UK France, Vietnam, etc etc handle it? They could try and break the blockade, instigate an airlift similar to Berlin, to symbolically go against any embargo. Big mistake by Kissinger and Carter. Now there is no way the US could put back any troops there. How would the US re-arm Taiwan if this got hot? Ukraine is much easier as it has a land border. If a deal is done over Ukraine, I fear China may see this as a free light.Especially if the economy tanks, either in the west or china.

The US was an ally of Taiwan before semiconductors and can be again.
The Cuba blockade was against weapons only and the UK had a friendly population or at least limited enemies on the Falklands during the exclusion zone.
Blockades are tough to implement. China will have those nice aircraft carriers and whatever else exposed for some fun weapons to be delivered from the sky. You are right in your implication that the air war has to be won by the US, though.
The one thing the Taiwanese need to be able to do is to hold the land. They should be able to do this with 24 million people, though. US troops while effective are not essential for the land component.
The idea is that this is over before Taiwanese supplies get stressed. Winning the air war and sinking some boats would do that.
Easier for the attacker because the entire Russian army can be fighting Ukraine at this moment. Only the PLA members that successfully make it across the strait will be fighting in Taiwan.
Definitely a concern and why I remind our MAGA friends that they will own the consequences of isolation no matter where they occur in the world.
Chinese economy is already tanking.

Because Taiwan is China !

These people come off as weak and whiney. Just say no. But no, instead of having a backbone, they whine and act like a victim, like a child who's lost.
