China is Such a third world country led by a dictator. They know their vaccines don’t work.

China is Such a third world country led by a dictator.

go to night school sir. China is worlds second largest economy and about to become number one. It doesn’t have a dictator, the leader is voted for by the CCP. Kind of like America, but WITHOUT billionaires and lobbyists choosing who is elected.

SARS-CoV-2 deaths in China, 1.4 billion has seen just 5,226 deaths

SARS-CoV-2 deaths in USA, 360 million has seen 1,011,164 deaths.

which country is smarter?

Unfortunately the outaded approach of the chinese authorities makes this cycle of lockdowns inevitable. Other countries have reduced the impact on health services and the risk of the disease without having to use these measures thanks to scientifically sound measures like widespread vaccination and epidemiological vigilance, but China persist on using the most expensive option (not only in resources but in lives lost because of limited access to hospitals for example) just because it is unfortunately the option that also promotes a heavier control of the population.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

China’s policy was good in the pre-vaccine days, but now with good vaccines available, and the omicron version being less deadly, they should switch tactics.

Unfortunately instead of vaccinating their population with Pfizer, Moderna, J&J, AstraZeneca, they are relying on their homegrown vaccine which is not as effective, in combination with total lockdowns. Obviously this is not sustainable.

The government has got themselves in a bit of a pickle. They don’t want to admit that their vaccine is less effective than foreign ones which are not approved in China, so to avoid that being exposed, they are trying to keep Covid out by force. Omicron is just too difficult to control.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Omicron is quite harmless, so not sure why they keep locking down, even if their vaccines are ineffective. Are they going to keep locking down for the next 10 years? I think the health benefits of lockdowns are negligible (who else still does it?), but the human and economic impact is significant.

Shouldn't take anything China says at face value...

Beijing warns of 'explosive' COVID outbreak;

The headline sounds scary, until - - - -

Beijing authorities said on Saturday that all 61 new cases uncovered in the city on Friday had either visited the Heaven Supermarket Bar or had links to it.

-one reads the reality.

I find the lower figures hard to believe. My math is probably wrong, but you get my point. How can you believe the figures being released by China?

What are the actual figures then, and where do you get such source for that data?

Unfortunately the outaded approach of the chinese authorities makes this cycle of lockdowns inevitable.

Why is it outdated? Is there a verifiable scientific source that determined it is outdated? In the end, saving millions of lives compared to the US is outdated? Does not sound like a conclusion form a scientist or a medical professionial. Need to look at the facts.

So far, the country of 1.4 billion has seen just 5,226 deaths from COVID-19.

This is a remarkable success. Well-done China.

Melbourne, Australia, for example, had lockdowns for about 160 days; it is not just China that employs these measures. But Australia, after easing restrictions, has suffered a high percentage of infections and related deaths in comparison to China.

When it comes to a country's health policy, I choose life.

Nice to see everyone lining up, close together, mandated by the govt, so COVID can spread more.

Zero Covid is a fantasy.

Covid with be the just another disease we all learn to live with for the next 50 yrs. For people who are vaccinated, covid isn't a death sentence. For some, it is symptom-less and they don't feel bad at all. For many others, the symptoms are mild, less than the common flu.

Yet, the CCP wants to show they are in control by locking people up and having people wast 2+ hrs a day standing in dumb lines. That's a great way to destroy an economy. Even currency manipulation cannot offset all the lost productivity.

I feel terrible for normal Chinese people wrapped up in these foolish policies. So very sad.

But the CCP needs to save face at all costs and deflect their own failure which has killed millions of people around the world.

They are outside, wearing masks, and to me, don't look so close to each other.

Zero Covid is a fantasy.

Factually used by governments such as the UK, New Zealand, and Australia.

Some people walk away from car crashes with no injuries.

Citizens in Melbourne for example, were in lockdown for 150 days. Govt. tried to show it was in control? How are the economies of the US, Japan, New Zealand, doing?

I feel terrible for normal Chinese people wrapped up in these foolish policies. So very sad.

How do you feel for the families and friends of the over 1 million lost lives in the US?

But the CCP needs to save face at all costs and deflect their own failure which has killed millions of people around the world.

Well, if the CCP is at fault for starting this whole thing, the solution should be the populace of China should also suffer millions of deaths?

Are you really, seriously, comparing 3 islands with China? The density of people per sqKM is vastly different.

2m apart was the last recommendation for people wearing masks. They don't look 2m apart to me. With all the testing done the last 2 yrs by the CCP, seems some paint on the sidewalk with 2m markers would be handy. This just covid testing theatre. Typical if fear tactics.

In Australia, unhappy people let their govt know and the world saw it. In China, if you do that, you "disappear", have your family and job threatened, and will never get a passport again. Plus, a "CCP minder" will visit your home and parent's homes every week to ensure you obey.

Well, if the CCP is at fault for starting this whole thing, the solution should be the populace of China should also suffer millions of deaths?

I would never wish anyone to die. That's what the CCP tells Chinese people. There are videos of auntie groups praying for covid to to leave China and go to Japan and the US. We call that "hate speech" and it isn't acceptable. But in China, wishing ill towards others seems to be govt backed with constant blame-shifting.

I don't blame China for causing COVID. I blame China for hiding and denying it for months and actively jailing their own medial people when they wanted to share the virus genetics with outside experts. I also blame the CCP for allowing overseas travel long after they'd locked down travel inside China.

Average Chinese just want to live their lives. They are adults and should be allowed to make their own decisions, which guidance from the govt, not mandates.

The millions of dead in the US, I blame on Trump and his team that prevented experts who have the job to deal with these things, the CDC, from doing their job. He's gone. We took care of him. The US is full of idiots, but we have a disbelief of our govt. We don't trust it. It exists only because it is a necessary evil. That's part of our culture. Even people who work inside the govt know it shouldn't be trusted. America was created by rebels who didn't like being told what to do. That is taught in our schools and people who take risks are called mavericks and free-thinkers and non-conformists. I suspect those terms translate into negative terms in Mandarin, because the CCP can't have people that don't like following orders without good reason.

There are lots of cultural differences, which is why China is great at some things and the US is great at some things.

Yes, beginning with the WHO (which is the global scientific authority on public health matters) no institution recommends the approach since Delta and Omicron made it terribly inefficient and vaccines and better treatments made it unnecessary to keep the risk low.

China has decided to hide the number of deaths it reports by using any other health problem the patients had the registered cause, that is not something that a country in control would do.

Other countries had lockdowns when they were justified, because the variants at the time were much more susceptible of control and they needed time to vaccinate their population, that do not apply this year with China, that is using the lockdowns instead of vaccination and not as a way to get it.

Lockdowns have negative effects directly attributable to them, including causing deaths by lack of access to hospitals and causing economic ruin, choosing them instead of the actually best options is not choosing life, it is choosing control.

If you took care of him, you are to blame for letting him in the first place, and so also responsible.

But didn't the majority of those deaths occur under Biden?

If the zero covid approach, which was used successfully by other countries is considered outdated even though it results in the lowest rates of infections and related deaths, then the word outdated is being used incorrectly. Also, the below poster disagrees with you.

Yes, beginning with the WHO (which is the global scientific authority on public health matters) no institution recommends the approach since Delta and Omicron made it terribly inefficient and vaccines and better treatments made it unnecessary to keep the risk low.

According to WHO's own website, it is an agency; maybe you want to take it up with them:

https://www.who.int/about/

China has decided to hide the number of deaths it reports by using any other health problem the patients had the registered cause, that is not something that a country in control would do.

An opinion by anonymous poster not affiliated with any scientific or medical profession and not substantiated with verifiable data is not convincing.

Lockdowns have negative effects directly attributable to them, including causing deaths by lack of access to hospitals and causing economic ruin, choosing them instead of the actually best options is not choosing life, it is choosing control.

How many deaths? Where is your statistical data to back up such an overgeneralization? What specifically are the best options and where have those options been used with greater success than China, because for starters, only China has shown positive growth through the entire crisis so there goes the economic argument, and China also has lower infection and related death rates than the US, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Italy and so forth, so there goes the health argument.

According to WHO's own website, it is an agency; maybe you want to take it up with them:

Being an agency is what empowers the organization to become a global authority on public health matters, something you have been repeatedly unable to disprove. Even the authorities you recognize as valid do say that the WHO is a medical and scientific authority.

An opinion by anonymous poster not affiliated with any scientific or medical profession and not substantiated with verifiable data is not convincing.

The reference for this has been repeatedly provided for you, and you have been repeatedly unable to disprove it, pretending this is not the case only speak about how this completely debunks your argument.

If the argument is that China is hiding deaths that also means it applies to the result of their flawed policy, which the experts criticize for it. Showing a decrease positive growth thanks to lockdowns still means they are negative, and if other countries recover economically AFTER discarding the policy that also means it is something that acts against their economy.

If a different policy gives similar or even lower death rates, do not require trampling of the human rights of the citizens, do not require for health services to be interrupted, do not need for covid deaths to be systematically hidden and promotes a better economic growth, that can be validly be called a much better policy.

As I pointed out before, the fact that the governments of the world fund the WHO is enough proof for anyone not of the lowest levels of intelligence to understand they are an agency whose mandate is to oversee the health of the world. And I mean everyone but those as the lowest levels of intelligence.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The WHO wasn't allowed to do their job in China. They were prevented from seeing all they wanted and prevented from talking with the experts they wanted to speak with by CCP "minders." The proof of this is overwhelming.

The WHO is beholding to each country for providing data. That means the data from each country is only as good as the control over their lies. No data is perfect, but we've learned that China routinely lies about almost everything, but especially deaths, regardless of the cause.

Biden doesn't deserve the blame for the Ex-Prez tainting the viable solutions which are still happening today with crazy ideas. I happen to live in the middle of a Pro-Trump political area. The ability of my neighbors to follow the most stupid rumor for why vaccines are bad amazes me.
