What a fool! In every other country people despise the negative sterotypes attached to them. How come Italians people try so hard to live up those stereotypes? I guess I used to be like that too. Now I`m just not impressed.

If he weren't there, we wouldn't have anything to laugh about in politics.

Berlusconi would not last 5 minutes if he ever becomes PM of Australia...but he is fun.

I really don't think his comments were racial. It was blown out of proportion by the media looking for an angle.

This tanned/African nonsense is actually part of a much larger cultural joke relating to the north/south divide in Italy. Anyone south of Roma is an African etc. due to their tan.

Ignorant, discriminatory comments from an Italian. Whodda thunk it?

That's the problem with allies, unfortunately you cannot pick them.

With regard to the ex-cruise boat entertainer, I sometimes seriously wonder what goes on inside Mr. Berlusconi's head (if anything). When hosting him in the US, the Obamas should have asked him to put on a bit of a floor show for the media. Go on Silvio, show us what a complete fool you are.

I also have to question the intellect of the Italian body politic. Berlusconi has been shown on numerous occasions to be an intellectual dwarf of minute proportions, how is it he remains in office?

Then again, he would have been an even bigger disaster as an emperor of Ancient Rome.

Hey he'sa Italiano. But some of the worlds, great leaders (not that he's one of them) were known for thier caustic wit, Winston Churchill comes to mind.

“We all asked ourselves, ‘Does he know what he’s doing, or is he just someone who knows how to read well?’”

“But he’s all there, in a big way, and that should make us all happy and satisfied because we need the greatest democracy, the greatest country, to be in trustworthy hands,” the Italian premier said.

Well said. I'm not surprised this guy has lasted longer - waaaaaaaay longer - than any post war premier the mercurial Italian electorate has had to decide upon.

Unlike the affirmative action president we have in America, who advanced through the system because of the color of his skin, ol' Silvio got where he did in part because of the thickness of his skin. He could teach Obama a thing or two.

Makes me ashamed to be Italian

"He could teach Obama a thing or two."

You're defending a mega-rich man whom in his seventies cheats on his wife with 18 year old girls amongst other ridiculous amounts of corruption?

I love it when you tells us you're a proud conservative old friend.

I really don't think his comments were racial. It was blown out of proportion by the media looking for an angle." I really think that far too many English speakers think they can just translate words..

Would you like to hear some jokes I refer to many of your kind? I wouldn't call myself racist. its just joking! How many Polish Jokes do you know and have said? how many Jew Jokes do you knw and have said? And I am very sure you've heard, said and know a bunch of Hispanic jokes, not as many as Pole or Jew, but enough. I can shrug them off and so can Obama. Now, had Berlusconi been one of those Guidos in Brooklyn, I would take it differently.

I'm always wondered, why such an idiot is accepted by the italian voters. Unbelieveable...

The photos show Berlusconi’s gazing at Mrs Obama’s gown, instead of her face, and holding his arms out as if in delight at what he sees, while the U.S. president looks on, apparently not amused.

Mama'mia, now that'a dress looks good on'a you....LOL Love the old politicians who just do not get it.....LOL
