When you are more unpopular than Ted “THIS is why mullets aren’t a thing” Cruz and Rand “brittle-ribs” Paul, you are truly scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

It must be hard for the old guard, country club/banker Republicans to accept fossils like McConnell are being replaced by young people like Alexandria Octavio-Cortez, people who actually care about those at the lower and middle parts of society's spectrum.

Among other current Republican leaders, Trump remained the most popular among members of his own party:

The Republican Party represents a minority of Americans. If Biden's early days, positive ratings continue, expect the Republican base to further shrink. Echo GdTokyo: that Mitch is even lower than Cruz, Paul, Johnson etal shows how low today's R's are rated by even their own followers.

Moscow is as much apart of the establishment as Trump

Not true, the establishment was always against Trump, the establishment resented that the voters chose Trump over ANY of their candidates, the people finally smartened up and realized that the establishment doesn’t care about jobs, racism or the breakdown of the country, they care only about winning elections and ensuring that the status quo of the establishment Neo conservatism remains intact. As they move forward they still don’t have a single establishment Republican that could beat Trump in any race, let alone being likable. The party continues to expand its base, grow and fast as the party that started under the former President as putting America, the poor and the middle class and blue collar first, something the establishment has forgotten to do. Mitch is another one that’s done, he’s pretty much roasted, stick a thermometer in him from this point. From this point going forward you will see Trump and other non-establishment America first politicians aiming and trying to take out all of these establishment rhinos and seeing how the six Republican rhinos that tried to impeach Trump get censured back in their home state and that’s very bad news for them and good news for the GOP going forward to finally rid the party of these leeches.

Nearly spit my coffee at this one, thanks for the laugh.

“Expand its base” hundreds of thousands have deleted their GOP affiliation post-riot. Self-identified Republicans now make up a smaller percentage of the general electorate than pre-Trump.

“Poor middle class and blue collar first” says the party that voted unanimously against Covid relief, opposes unionization and a $15 minimum wage.

Laughably false and easily disproved with even a cursory examination of fact.

McConnell needs to retire. Soon. He shouldn't finish this term (5.5 more years).

Anyone who allowed Trump to do all the dumb things he did needs to be out of govt service. That would be all the high-level "fine people" appointees from Trump too, but I include Congress and Senators who refused to vote against Trump's conviction the 1st and 2nd time as well. They were enablers.

Everyone who kissed the ring needs to go.

Always fun to watch the GOP civil war.

The establishment. LOL.

The new it word for the forlorn Trump crowd. 'establishment'. :D

No, really, should just say 'pro democracy', even railing against other Republicans, part of your...what is it...oh, yes, establishment...who forgot (Mitch is kinda old, I guess) there was this insurrection and coup attempt by your non-establishment, as you put it, types. No really, I can't quit laughing.

Hmm....interesting, by that banter it would seem to liberals that 75 million people of Trump supporters swarmed over the nations Capitol and attempted a coup.

So when Democrats opposed the previous president for four years and tried to impeach him and try to oust him and convict him as well as using eight funny pretext I have an investigation that proved nothing they don’t call it a coup, they called it exercising there democratic rights...uh-huh...lol

The Democrats having exercised their constitutional duty of oversight of the executive is far, far different than a mob of Trump supporters violating the constitution by trying to interrupt the constitutional process of certifying the EC vote that resulted from the most secure election in American history.

Ok, that’s how the Democrats see it, so it’s not different from what the GOP is doing now.

It takes a huge amount of ignorance or severe intellectual honestly or both to try and equate the two

No, it’s just that liberals want their cake and eat it as well. When Republicans use their power for oversight and checks and balances and exercise their constitutional duty, Democrats call it obstruction, when they do it then it’s morally ethical and upholding checks and balances.

Trump supporters trying to overthrow democracy in the US by storming the Capitol and attempting to kill elected US officials is very different from voting against a bill.

Republicans tried to end democracy in the US. This was just two months ago. Stop the hand-wringing.
