There are laws, and then there are morals. The situation landlords find themselves in is unfortunate; some may be millionaires, but some may be simply eking out a living. Surely some way could - and must - be found to equitably solve this problem.

CNN is garbage. It’s way too funny that those who denigrate it the most constantly cite it.

Because it’s trash is the very reason they cite to denigrate it.

Ok another liberal favorite, WaPo.

*Biden’s novel evictions defense: *Maybe it’s illegal, but it’s worth it

After days of his administration suggesting that it couldn’t do this legally, it did it anyway. And Biden isn’t really trying to put a good face on that, either.

*Biden shows he's ready to make drastic moves in Covid-19 fight -- *even if he's not sure they're legal

Replace the name "Biden" with any Republican name for any issue at all.....we would have been having impeachment hearings yesterday.

There should have never been a moratorium to begin with. They should have never shut down the economy to begin with. If you still buy that this was all because of the scary virus and not a major redistribution of real estate and wealth, you haven't been paying attention for a long time.

The very same posters that were pillorying Biden for Republican obstructionism that allowed the moratorium to expire and asking what he was going to do are now bitching about what he’s done. Juvenile, but par for the course.

No, I’m just glad that this is being challenged, even Joe knows legally he’s in a tough bind. Let’s just see how this plays out.

no one is buying that story, sorry. even Dems said its Dems fault.

for Republican obstructionism that allowed the moratorium to expire

I can't say I support the approach, but I'll go along with it since it's such a unique crisis. This is something states really should have figured out by now.

so people are actually ok with Biden signing an executive order to do something that the Supreme Court has already identified as illegal?

He has admitted what he did and said oh well it will take time for a court case to be filed and adjudicated.

This is appropriate behavior?

Mortgage?

If I’m the property owner. In other words if I have a deadbeat that can’t his/her rent, I have to cover it. Again, I’m glad this is in court.

America's bloated rentier class will just have to bite the bullet and share the Covid pain if social justice is to MAGA.

In other words if I’m a landlord and I have a druggie living on my property I can’t evict him, but I have to continue to pay his mortgage?

Mortgage?

In other words if I’m a landlord and I have a druggie living on my property I can’t evict him, but I have to continue to pay his mortgage? Biden knows and even stated that this move is constitutionally illegal, but as always if he and his administration can override our existing laws, why not? Glad this is going to the top.

You have completely misunderstood the moratorium, and do not know what mortgages are. Congratulations.

I'm glad Biden and the CDC stepped in. People need a bit more time. But in the end, those facing evictions do need to figure out what to do next.

I missed the part where the CDC was in charge of all aspects of American life... Good thing we have a strong brave leader in office. Otherwise imagine what kind of mess we would be in!
