The rail strike would be the final nail in the coffin. Still not ratified yet.

While the US doesn't move many people on trains (I've never been on a passenger train in the USA that left a metro area), we do move millions of tonnes of freight that way. Had an Uncle who worked for CSX Rail. He was in the union and retired, probably before I was born. They had a nice life, but both parents worked.

People on the coasts aren't as impacted, but for the heartland, the daily train schedule is an important thing since it can block traffic, splitting a town for 10-15 minutes. We'd plan errands and restaurant visits based on which side of the tracks we'd be on before and after the expected train.

What’s a few trillion dollars more added to the debt, just add more zeros and watch that inflation number continue to rise.

The US (with Canada) has the world's best, most efficient freight rail system, integral the economy. Much was at stake. Good work, Joe.

The deal, which includes a 24% pay raise, will go to union members for a vote after a cooling-off period of several weeks.

Yeah now I see why they agreed to this. So inflation and cost of consumer goods goes up even more to pay for this? pass that cost right on to the consumer so Joe can claim a "win" before the election.

Proof that Double B has not clue one about actual economic/financial matters. This deal involves the US government mediating a contract between a union and a company. It involves ZERO additional US debt.

Smart leader knows how to throw in whopping sum of people's money to pacify rail workers to call off strike.

He has gained yet another political advantage point via giving away taxpayers money again freely..
