I doubt China will roll out the red carpet for this guy.

Pity that Japan is seen as a patronage style appointment though. Can't remember the last time the US put an actual seasoned professional in the ambassador's role here.

No US Ambassador to an allied nation requires high diplomatic skills. Those nations can go straight to the State Dept and the Ambassador is simply a formality. Holds true for the EU, UK, Austr, etc etc..and if course includes Japan.

Obviously a US Ambassador to an adversary nation needs more skill,

dubbed China aggressive and untrustworthy

Took words right out of my mouth!

Yes, you can tell China is the aggressor because of the long list of countries they've invaded in the past 4 decades.

It invaded and still occupies Tibet from the 1950's.

Lets look how many nations America invaded and still occupies 70 years later.......none.

Inocent China would never invade other countries but it has invaded Indian territory and Vietnam, both bordering nations and lets not forget the Korean war when it aided the agressor North korea and for a time invaded South Korea with North Korean troops.

Such a friendly peaceful nation like China need not be worried about. Unless you live close enough to it for it to invade you that is.

Has America been in wars? Yes it has. Has China been in wars. Yes it has. Trying to argue China is no worse than America is like saying the imprisoned are no different from the free.

America strives for freedom and democracy for itself and others. China just strives for power and control for itself. Ask Tibetan citizens if they would prefer Chinese rule to American and I would not be surprised to see them vote overwhelmingly for American rule. But them America would let them rule themselves so not much to compare.

Biden ambassador pick for China calls it 'aggressor'

Biden's pick for China is smart.

Unlike his pick for Japan...

The US never leaves unless it is kicked out.

And when does China leave? Never, It just claims ownership and stays.

Looks like China isn't the only nation that can play the wolf warrior diplomat game.

Out of a sense of pure greed, everybody was so excited about making China into this economic powerhouse that it's now become. The countries of the world need to re-think what's important (in terms of human rights or being able to do without when it comes to buying all that cheap stuff) before they grant too much power to any country that wishes to do more harm than good to others with that power. China looks like what a really big North Korea would look like with economic and military swagger. Not exactly what you'd call a very inspiring model or image for world peace and development.

If China should invade Taiwan, then what's next? Any country near China's border (especially one ripe for the taking) could face a similar situation as Taiwan in the future should the CCP decide that it's in their interests.

Counting isn't your strong point is it?

It is better than others, without pointing a finger.

Mr Kipling, there are US bases in the UK since WW2, even you can’t claim the UK is occupied (well not honestly).

China under the CCP is a militaristic, aggressive, paranoid nationalistic early stage imperialist. Please don’t swallow their self serving propaganda under the mistaken belief that they support your undoubtedly honestly held left wing views. Communism is not Socialist, it is about power for the party and it’s members, always has been and always will, it merely hijacks the Socialist ideals for its own purposes like the parasite it is.

Tibet is not China, it is culturally, linguistically and ethnically different with a long history of its own. That there has been interaction between the two over time does not make them Chinese in any sense, as valid would be claiming India is Chinese as they have interacted over millennia or that England and France are the same (though there are great ether similarities than between Tibet and China).

Props to the US Administration for picking a pro diplomat for this important position. Seems like a good man. Pity that Japan is seen as a patronage style appointment though. Can't remember the last time the US put an actual seasoned professional in the ambassador's role here.

If US smell of fear, perhaps WE should get up from the computer desk, consider other media sources, and get :30 daily, outdoor exercise in direct, natural sunlight to increase OUR serotonin levels ??

“I can smell US fear from my computer desk..” -

There is nothing to fear from the U.S., AUKUS or any other ‘western’ entity other than holding and promoting ideals contrary to the current PRC.

Yes, you can tell China is the aggressor because of the long list of countries they've invaded in the past 4 decades.

I mean, there's Iraq, Panama.. oops, that's the American list.

While, let's look at the countries China is presently bombing. That's Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan...oops, that's the American list again.

Ok, but look at all those Chinese military bases scattered across the majority of the continent's.

Wait, isn't the flag over those the Stars and Stripes, not the 5 Stars on Red?

Are we sure that Biden didn't accidentally pick from Trump's list, it would explain how the facts stand in direct conflict with the words he's saying.

Mr Kipling...

Tibet is occupied and has no autonomy thanks to China's invasion. Tibet is not China, it is Tibet and occupied by foreign forces, just ask native Tibetan's. The world apart from China accepts this is fact.

Germany and Japan are autonomous and sovereign nations hosting military forces from other nations by choice and necessity.

China can see what it wants to see and ignores that which it does not want to see.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Hmm, "untrustworthy".

Which country is it, exactly, that withdrew from a multilateral agreement despite certifying that the other side was meeting every one of the terms, despite the US not coming close to meeting its obligations (even under the President who negotiated and signed the agreement) and presently is demanding the other side ignore the terms that apply when the US side hasn't met its obligations and agree to reopen the agreement to make even further concessions that will leave it unable to defend itself against a nuclear rogue, militarily expansionist, war crime enthusiast, openly racist regime that regularly threatens to use nuclear weapons, all before it will consider not meeting its obligations, but merely promising it might eventually get close.

Oh, yeah, the 'special friend' of the only country to refuse to abide by any of the antiWMD treaties, the Geneva Conventions, or acknowledge that half its actual population has any rights within its borders.

Peter14....

There are over 100 US bases just in Japan.

About the same in Germany....

About 750 bases worldwide....

China...?

Tibet IS China so even that doesn't count.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Yes, the US bases are still in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Italy.....

The US never leaves unless it is kicked out.

Mr Kipling:

The US calling China an aggressor?

Pot? Kettle? Black?

Make no mistake, I'm not a fan of the Chinese government, but I sure as hell do not trust the government of a country that has military ALL over the world and has waged failed wars everywhere time and time again using fear-mongering and faked reports. Exceedingly hypocritical when so many innocent people have died.

Jan 22 2019; “One of the many great things about our just signed giant Trade Deal with China is that it will bring both the USA & China closer together in so many other ways. Terrific working with President Xi, a man who truly loves his country. Much more to come!”

Yes, the fat guy has a habit of cozying up with dictators all around the world. Of course, this was before Xi said no to helping the fat guy win the election.

Not a smart thing to do for someone who should be diplomatic in his choice of words. US foreign policy at its best.
