There Biden got in the last word over Cheney: “Thank God the last administration didn’t listen to him in the end”

In the end nobody listens to Cheney; except for the right wing nut jobs on JT.

Now, let us hear from the right wingers on Biden; right wingers that nobody listens to either.

Vice President Biden, like his fellow Democrat John Kerry, took as many positions on Iraq as was possible.

In 02 I believe he was on record declaring Hussein a threat that had to be removed, even though he opposed Gulf War One.

He opposed the surge.

At one point he had a plan which called for the partition of Iraq.

And now, naturally, he gives himself and his party credit for the victory.

Cheney said President Barack Obama wasn’t taking the al-Qaida threat seriously

This from a man who received multiple deferrals in order to chicken out of his own military service. More so that GW (who actually put on a uniform), Cheney has always pxssed me off because when it was his time to serve, he had more important things to do. Nevertheless, this does not stop him from being a "real" patriot and wrapping himself in the flag. What a goose.

Cheney has always pxssed me off because when it was his time to serve, he had more important things to do.

I'm sure this has been brought up before: had Cheney served while young or had Bush flown sorties in Vietnam, everyone knows 'baby-killer' - rather than the equally infantile 'chickenhawk' - would be the slur..

And why don't the four years of Cheney's service as Secretary of Defence (under Bush Sr) count as service to one's country?

Sitting behind a desk and speaking shxt, and sitting in a foxhole being in the shxt are too totally different propositions. Then again, both realistically and figuratively, perhaps the Dickster just didn't have the heart for it, despite being rather good at shooting hunting buddies.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Biden struck first, declaring that Cheney’s attacks on Obama’s commitment to fighting terrorism ignored the facts.

As if Cheney doesn't know that. He knows he is ignoring the facts, he's just pushing buttons.

Dear Dick Cheney,

Will you please sit down and shut up! It was your bone headed policies that got us here in the first place. No one cares what you think old man. You had your chance to do things right and you and that dim GWB made an epic mess of things. Now you can't seem to shut up about how things should be done.

You and the entire cadre of neo-cons should be in prison. You should thank your god for the fact that the people of our contry did not call you fully to accounts for Iraq, torture and all the other crimes you committed.

So do yourself a favor, sit down, shut up and stay out of politics or the day may come where you are called to accounts for your many crimes.

You have no way of proving if Cheney was 'talking shxt' while Sec of Defence. You have no idea if his policies in fact, saved American lives.

He served, in his own way.

That it was also a sacrifice can be fairly easily proven - his duties as a Cabinet member undoubtedly left little chance for Cheney to indulge his oft-cited money-making prowess as an executive in the private sector...

al qaiada loves cheney . every time he opens his mouth they get more recruits . cheney one of the writers of the new fascist party installed into the former democratic US government . total informational awareness . thanks bush thanks cheney . our founding fathers writhe in their graves .

0 ( +0 / -0 )

cheney let 9-11 happen while he was planning for the Iraq invasion and then let OBL go when the US forces had him cornered. He has zero credibility and frankly should be in jail for his war crimes.

al qaiada loves cheney . every time he opens his mouth they get more recruits .

The Christmas Day bomber showed how much they 'love' Obama as well. They 'loved' Clinton so much they tried to have him assassinated on his visit to Manila in 1996.

If tinfoil could talk:

cheney let 9-11 happen

these 2 should have an actual fight, more people would pay attention

Hiring Cheney to be V.P. was the biggest blunder of Bush's presidency. The second was listening to him blubber on and on.

Cheney was a major source of the U.S. ending up in Iraq. That stupid diversion created terrorists that did not exist before. That stupid diversion made us look weak in Afghanistan because we spent years there without proper troop levels.

Odogma (RR) can't deal with the truth about what a loser Dick really was so he uses his own diversionary tactics.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He should just ignore Cheney. All that dude cared about was his bank account.

NO

I, for one, was on active duty. We lost more good troops and had bad base closings left and right.

And YES the bush administration w/dick cheney allowed the terrorist to hijack our own passenger jets and took down the WTC.

Good going dick. < :-)

One correction. I had been honorably discharged from the USMC in 1984 and two weeks later I was back as a civilian employee at the MC Finance Center. But still serving. You know my serving as a civilian was no different then cheney as Sec of Def. Never in the line of fire. his serving, as you call, was like sitting in bleachers watching the military march along. It was a spectator sport. < :-)

If people like Cheney had to risk their lives on the line in Helmud province then wars would be better fought or not fought at all. It is easy for these fat, rich priviledged class twits to rattle their sabers and talk about what needs to be done. But it is the boy next door who has to get blown apart trying to execute those goals.

Cheney is a neo-fascist nazi not at all unlike the Italian or German fascists of the 30's. They would overthrow the rule of constitutional law in favor of their own economic and power objectives. And they would gladly sacrifice the youth of our nation to make a dollar.

I sincerely wish we could try and convict both Cheney and his lapdog Bush for their violations of so many of our laws and priciples.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cheney must realize the fact that the US and its allied powers tried and convicted about 2000 Japanese B & C Class war criminals, hanging more than 600, mostly for torturing amd mistreating POW's during the WW II. How can he support mistreating and torturing Al-qaeda POW's by the US?

Statements like this show little understanding of political process in the United States. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say they reflect outright disdain for the democratic process.

Bush and Cheney, and their democratically-elected administration, had the support of Congress and the US Senate for both wars.

Vice President Joe Biden opposed Gulf War 1 but supported the 03 invasion of Iraq.

He later opposed the surge that won the war in Iraq.

David Brooks, New York Times: "What Joe Biden said on ['Meet the Press'] today will be laughed at around the Arab world."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He later opposed the surge that won the war in Iraq.

The war in Iraq has been won? That is news to me. If this is indeed the case then why aren't all the troops back from Iraq? Surge or no surge, the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan are not going to be won by blowhards such as Cheney, who along with his lapdogs should have been put up against the wall for putting the invasion into Iraq with not enough resources. Remember "Eric was Right."

Don't get me wrong, I am far from being a tree-hugging hippie and indeed I have a great deal of admiration for people who served with distinction (Colin Powell) and those who continue to do so. However, Dick Cheney just rubs me the wrong way. The guy has a yellow streak a mile wide up his back, however, he continues to wrap himself in the flag. What a joke.

"Statements like this show little understanding of political process in the United States. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say they reflect outright disdain for the democratic process."

On the contrary Odogma, it shows respect for the fact that even elected officials are subject to our laws. Lying to congress is illegal and an offence that may be prosecuted. As is fabricating information.

War crimes such as allowing or ordering torture or unjust imprisonment are also against US law and are punishable crimes.

So you need to pay more attention to the law. When we allow leaders to be above the law that is when we compromise democracy. What little of it actually exists, that is.

As if Dick were not enough of an embarrassment while he was in office! Now he breaks perfectly good traditions of bowing out and shutting up when the term is done. I find it hard to believe that no one has taken a shot at this fool yet. I guess they thought he would die on his own sooner?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cheney was probably the best deterrent to shooting Bush while he was in office. 9-11 happened on HIS watch, and the accounts given under oath by then Transport Secretary Norman Mineta prove Cheney's complicity in the attacks. Time to convene a Grand Jury and put him, Bush and all the other PNACer's behind bars for treason.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hiring Cheney to be V.P. was the biggest blunder of Bush's presidency....

Yeah but daddy needed somebody he could trust to keep junior from fiddling with the football.

prove Cheney's complicity in the attacks...

Yeah, right. And Cheney helped sink the Titanic too. Honestly, if you're going to spout that kind of drivel would you please provide a link to the incriminating testimony?

My biggest disappointment with Obama is that, by and large, his antiterrorism policies have just been a version of "Bush lite." I don't see why Cheney is arguing about it. It would seem that Cheney just can't stand being out of the public eye. So I have a suggestion: go to Britain and testify, Dick. You can have all the time you want to try to explain why torture and suspension of rights is justifiable. Maybe Obama will realize that he ought to make a clean break with the Bush policies.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"For them to try to take credit for what happened in Iraq is a little strange. It ought to go with a healthy dose of "thank you, George Bush."

Cheney can't possibly expect that from this administration.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why should george bush/dick cheney be thanked for lying to start a war in Iraq? Why should george bush/dick cheney be thanked for murdering 1000s of innocent civilians? Why should george bush/dick cheney be thanked for wasting a $Trillion in attacking a country that never had the WMD in storehouses or bunkers that he claimed?

For 8 years dick cheney and george bush played the "Stay the Course" game and just shoved $Millions into Halliburton to enrich cheney and the other rich deeply invested in war.

cheney needs to go find his way back to a bunker and hide just like he did after the attack on the WTC. he stayed in a gopher hole for months after the attack. he's a big coward with a bigger mouth. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cheney gave Obama high marks. But he derided Biden for giving the Obama administration credit for winding down the war in Iraq without acknowledging the work of President George W. Bush.

Yep, Obama has to reluctantly give credit to the bush administration for starting the war with lies and fabrications. Otherwise, Obama wouldn't have had to end the war. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Lying to congress is illegal and an offence that may be prosecuted. As is fabricating information.

That is quite an accusation, one I couldn't find anywhere in this article. Cheney lied? Can this be proven?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Odogma go back to sleep. This has been documented for years over and over again. You want facts to his lying, look it up. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This has been documented for years over and over again.

Prove it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Prove it yourself. I'm not spoon feeding you. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

From the article "he had been at odds with the majority of Bush administration officials on the decision to release prisoners from the military lockup to their home countries when cases against them were determined to be legally untenable."

This is known as "guilty until proven innocent". Its hard to believe that someone with such an unAmerican belief was one step away from the presidency.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Prove it yourself. I'm not spoon feeding you. < :-)

You made the allegation. There is nothing in the article even alluding to something as remotely absurd as your claim that Cheney lied to Congress. You can't prove it. You live in a fantasy world.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Here's your spoon feeding. cheney is a bold faced liar. < :-)
