I think you got it the wrong way round, Russia's aggressive behavior is causing the very actions that Russia didn't want the west to do. The Russian foreign minister said bring it on, so bring it on we shall.

The U.S. has been building up its presence since shortly before the Russian invasion in late February, adding about 20,000 troops to the 80,000 who were previously in Europe.

We need to take US troop numbers in Europe back to late 1980’s levels.

No. The Russians have not tried to attack a NATO member. Adding more troops to NATO decreases the likelihood of the Russian's trying.

Ten years ago conservatives were excoriating liberals or underfunding and undervaluing the military as well as for their frequent opposition to some questionable US foreign wars. Now however when there is a clear cut situation of a democracy being invaded by a dictatorship we find the conservatives defending the invaders while calling the liberals "warlords" or worse. Up is now down, black is now white. Inside is now outside.
