Remember for 4 LONG years how “infrastructure week” was a running gag?

Took longer than I expected and a few more cliff-hangers than I would have liked, but Joe gets things done. The FFG? Not so much.

I have been waiting five years for infrastructure week, and the President has finally delivered.

Infrastructure week - Biden

Infrastructure weak - Trump

2 ( +17 / -15 )

Congratulations!

A small sunbeam of bipartisanship shines through. This bill is not perfect, but it’s a healthy investment in the future, and it will improve people’s lives. This is how government is supposed to operate.

My condolences to Trump, who couldn’t get it done. May you find some solace in your petulant whining.

5G towers everywhere

-5 ( +7 / -12 )

Trump, who is widely expected to seek to return to the White House in the 2024 election, has savaged the 13 Republicans in the House of Representatives who voted alongside the Democrats.

Again showing what a bumbling fool he is - he had 8 "infrastructure weeks" in his four years - that resulting in absolutely NOTHING....

He says Republicans who crossed the aisle should be "ashamed" and are not real Republicans.

Quite the opposite - the Repubs who voted against this bill are not Republicans, nor American, they're fascists...

Hard-right Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, an especially vocal Trump booster, called them "traitors." She tweeted out office phone numbers of the 13 fellow Republicans, some of whom reported getting torrents of violent abuse.

And speaking of fascists, example No. 1..... I'm surprised she didn't turn her space-based lasers on them....

And all this past weekend, Repubs had to go on TV and explains why they didn't vote for better roads, bridges, broad-band, jobs, etc, for their states and districts...and failing....

And all this past weekend, Repubs had to go on TV and explains why they didn't vote for better roads, bridges, broad-band, jobs, etc, for their states and districts...

If only that were true. Instead they'll ignore this point altogether, and go on about how Biden and the Socialists just bankrupted America. And there are enough Americans stupid enough to believe them, that it will actually work.

-3 ( +14 / -17 )

Wonderful, President Biden did what “Mr. Businessman,” “Mr. Real Estate,” “Mr. I build things” could never do: sign an infrastructure bill.

5 ( +18 / -13 )

Republicans used to be the Infrastructure Party. Now Republicans are just the Tax Cuts for the 1% and Corporation Party while the rest of the country runs down to 3rd world status. This Infrastructure Bill is less than 1/2 of what is needed but because of turn coat Democrats Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and Sen. Joe Manchin this is the best Bill that could get passed.

-2 ( +11 / -13 )

Good work, President Biden! And thanks to both sides who helped get something important done for the American people.

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

The real freeloaders in this country are the rich, not the poor. The United States literally has a yacht tax deduction.

11 ( +18 / -7 )

MTG is always good for a laugh. It’s truly mind boggling that anyone takes her seriously, but she gives the late night hosts plenty to work with.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

And all this past weekend, Repubs had to go on TV and explains why they didn't vote for better roads, bridges, broad-band, jobs, etc, for their states and districts...and failing.

Not disagreeing but some Democratic representatives like AOC have some 'splainin to do too. The Democratic caucus in both houses showed almost nothing in the way of teamwork. It is bitterly disappointing to see. AOC is still sniping from the sidelines.

0 ( +8 / -8 )

Is the inflation already baked in to the 1.2 trillion figure?

2 ( +10 / -8 )

Is the inflation already baked in to the 1.2 trillion figure?

Eh? What exactly do you mean?

-7 ( +7 / -14 )

Not disagreeing but some Democratic representatives like AOC have some 'splainin to do too. The Democratic caucus in both houses showed almost nothing in the way of teamwork. It is bitterly disappointing to see. AOC is still sniping from the sidelines.

I agree with you on that. Fortunately though, there are no Democratic members of congress calling for their heads. Unlike the GOP, basic civility still has a place in the Democratic Party. (Democrats also don't storm the capitol when they don't get their way.)

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

Now Republicans are just the Tax Cuts for the 1% and Corporation Party while the rest of the country runs down to 3rd world status

And Trump wants back in the White House to give himself and those born of his privileged caste even more tax breaks, while expecting working and middle class Americans to foot the bills for even more defense spending. Sad commentary on Trump's cult members who are sending him money while having to pay even more money in taxes; no wonder so many of them cannot afford adequate healthcare.

-4 ( +7 / -11 )

Biden celebrates rare win

Great (and truthful) headline for once!

-1 ( +10 / -11 )

Great (and truthful) headline for once!

Bigger win than the people ever got in 4 years of Trump.

0 ( +13 / -13 )

In 2018, Repubs gave a $1.9 trillion tax break to the Top 1% richest Americans...all UNFUNDED and on the nation's credit card, increasing the debt. They said it would create jobs (it didn't), "trickle down" (it didn't), and strengthen the economy (it didn't)....what it did do was allow these ultra-rich to buy-back more stock, move more jobs overseas, and buy an extra mansion...

Now they have the gall to refuse to support a less expensive bill, that re-builds our aging and failing infrastructure, creates more jobs by putting people to work fixing these things, and really does strengthen our economy....

The Repubs blame Biden and Dems for backups at our ports - then refuse to vote for a bill that would modernize and improve them....all the while ignoring that for the past four years Trump did nothing for infrastructure... He couldn't even finish a wall along the border...

Now they're going to wage war on their own party members who did vote for it....proving once again they are nothing but a self-destructing, dangerous cult....

-1 ( +10 / -11 )

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is against this bill because the Democrats gutted climate change and social safety net support from the bill and moved both to a separate bill that will be impossible to pass. In trying to get everything she and other moderate Democrats want they were willing to hold up the bill. Bad thinking on AOC's part.

What really disgusts me is that there already Republican who voted against the bill who are bragging about the Infrastructure Spending in their districts.

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

And Trump wants back in the White House to give himself and those born of his privileged caste even more tax breaks, while expecting working and middle class Americans to foot the bills for even more defense spending.

Yeah, the winner today in all of this is China, well done.

Sad commentary on Trump's cult members who are sending him money while having to pay even more money in taxes;

Which now you will all pay, good luck.

no wonder so many of them cannot afford adequate healthcare.

With rising gas prices and now increased taxes on everyone and food prices, paying healthcare for many will be even harder to pay.

-4 ( +9 / -13 )

With rising gas prices

Gas prices are a global market and the US has some of the cheapest gas in the developed world including Japan. But I take a train so I don't care. Japan has more expensive gas and they are not blaming the American president for that. Americans (especially the Trump type need to be less lazy that start walking)

paying healthcare for many will be even harder to pay.

Yes, and living in a country with government healthcare makes it obvious to have Medicare for all. TrumpCare is a failure.

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

Not sure this is a "win" for the country though. Joe really is struggling.

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

You see why we don't take you seriously anymore?

Did anyone ever?

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Excellent news. America really needs to catch up with the rest of the civilized nations.

1 ( +9 / -8 )

Yeah, the winner today in all of this is China, well done.

Would you care to explain please how the US building physical infrastructure is a win for China?

0 ( +10 / -10 )

Has there ever been a Republican president who wasn't a complete and utter failure for the American people?

Abraham Lincoln, but that was a very long time ago.

5 ( +13 / -8 )

Tax cuts or no tax cuts, the point is to build stuff that people use and appreciate, for decades, and even into future centuries. Example: More public transportation means healthier people with less disease from more walking. Less car accidents. More time to educate yourself by reading the news (even if it's Alex Jones) there you can use your smartphone safely. It will be a richer and more productive society. But again, now does Trump's wall help with all this?

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

rare win? what a lughead.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Lots of pork!

Higher taxes await!

More bad news for the Dems in 2022

3 ( +13 / -10 )

More bad news for the Dems in 2022

Based on the stupidity American voters have repeatedly shown over the years, you're almost definitely correct.

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

More bad news for the Dems in 2022

Can the Republicans build infrastructure? (Can they convince the Trump people that Trump is NOT the current legal president?) And if they do build then what specifically? Can they magically lower gas prices? the gas prices in the US are cheapest in the developed world and this includes Japan...even China. I'm fine with some Republicans, but Trump people only want Trump.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

More bad news for the Dems in 2022

The Dems are getting another shellacking next year.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

Although getting an infrastructure upgrade is good

Like what?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Another prediction! Comedy gold!

Remember when they thanked the Democrats for choosing Biden as their representative, because it supposedly ensured a second trump presidency?

Although they actually think they were right, and that Trump is still president. Q told them.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Not a mask in sight! What a stunning example of recklessness

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Passing anything with the Repubs around and whatever Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin are is a miracle in itself.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Although getting an infrastructure upgrade is good

If the Republicans build more public transportation, improve the Internet, make a daycare system, and expand government healthcare (and it works in Japan even for Trump people here) then I'm OK with voting Republican. I don't have an argument with that. Why is the approach from Biden so bad? Because his idea does not include building a wall?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Passing anything with the Repubs around and whatever Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin are is a miracle in itself.

It's impressive. Biden has accomplished more in a year than Trump managed in four.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Good for getting this passed. Lots of pork in the bill, but that is to be expected in anything that passes through Sodom on the Potomac. Now.......... the so-called 'Build Back Better' bill.... is dead. If the president is smart, he will take his brief victory lap and then go away.

Perhaps this will drag his approval rating somewhere back north of 40%. Nothing can be done about his VP though, she is toast. Unlikeable, ignored, zero people skills, and ambitious. Not a good combination of traits. She may be the best insurance policy Joe Biden has ever bought.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Rising inflation, will determine whether or not this infrastructure plan can ease the consumer price index currently hovering around 6% from (October 2020)

President Biden $1.2 trillion package, is one of the most comprehensive/stimulus spending pledges ever undertaken for decades.

The package will have to be carefully managed to reign in inflationary wage growth, energy, goods and services costs.

$1.75 trillion social spending and tax reforms could well exasperate the fiscal/monetary need to reign in retail consumer spending demand.

It is important to be aware, infrastructure spending benefits take years to work there way through the system.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

So far I've seen none of the objectors to this bill offering reasons they hate it so much. All I see only predictions about taxes going up (they won't, except on the top 1%) and the Democrats losing the House and Senate (which may happen).

So, all ye naysayers, what do you dislike? Are there certain parts that you find wasteful? or should this investment be kicked further down the road? or do you just hate it because, well, liberals.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

So far I've seen none of the objectors to this bill offering reasons they hate it so much

Something about Socialism. Or Communism. Or one of their boogeymen, whichever the flavor of the day is.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Based on the stupidity American voters have

When I hear comments like that from Europeans, not only is it funny, but it really doesn’t matter. Lol

Another prediction! Comedy gold!

I actually don’t think any Democrat think it’s neither comedy or gold, but at least Pelosi can retire finally.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Yeah nice 120 second window you gave someone to actually answer.

Oh sorry, did you want me to pretend you guys haven't been blaming everything on your socialist and communist boogeymen for decades now? My bad.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

To be fair, a wall could be considered infrastructure.

Of course, that just means it's one more infrastructure failure for Trump, seeing as he couldn't even get the Mexicans to pay for it.

Did Trump have any infrastructure non-failures?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Most Americans are against this infrastructure bill and Biden.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Most Americans are against this infrastructure bill and Biden.

Yes, exactly.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Yes, exactly.

Why? What's wrong with more public transportation? And better Internet? And more day care centers? Also expand the public healthcare system since Trumpcare was a disaster? If a Republican goes for that I might vote for that person

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Most Americans are against this infrastructure bill and Biden.

More people voted for Biden than have ever voted for any leader in world history.

And Americans want infrastructure.

Sorry, did you think that just because the losing team who couldn't navigate an infrastructure bill themselves are being loud, that the people suddenly care what they say?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

More people voted for Biden than have ever voted for any leader in world history.

And now those people have buyer's remorse.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-yorks-daily-memo-the-biden-white-house-dumpster-fire

And Americans want infrastructure.

But they don't want their taxes to rise and go to the store and get less and the rising gas prices are not helping this guy

Sorry, did you think that just because the losing team who couldn't navigate an infrastructure bill themselves are being loud, that the people suddenly care what they say?

Well, when I drive through Oakland and Compton, I haven't seen much of infrastructure and probably won't

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

And now those people have buyer's remorse.

Oh no, they still hate Trump as much as ever. Some of them are just also unhappy with Biden.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Well, when I drive through Oakland and Compton, I haven't seen much of infrastructure and probably won't

The bill was passed today. Did you expect it to take instant effect? For infrastructure to magically appear?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Trumpcare was a disaster

No, it wasn't.

It can't be a disaster if it doesn't exist.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Oh no, they still hate Trump as much as ever.

If that were true Youngkin would have lost and he's a huge Trump supporter and never hid that

Some of them are just also unhappy with Biden.

So much that he might not even make it for the rest of 3 years.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-11-14/biden-s-approval-rating-slips-to-fresh-low-post-abc-poll-shows

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

If that were true Youngkin would have lost and he's a huge Trump supporter and never hid that

How does this prove the people don't hate Trump?

You forget that Trump lost two popular votes AND two electoral colleges. He was only president because of massive levels of fraud in 2016 unlike any ever perpetuated upon the American people.

And you somehow think that he's suddenly going to be able to start winning elections now? I think not. Although he may be able to steal another one, he's a crafty thief.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

How does this prove the people don't hate Trump?

Easy, not voting for someone that supports Trump, but he was able to get both Trump supporters and haters as well as independents to help.

And you somehow think that he's suddenly going to be able to start winning elections now?

Yup!

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

If that were true Youngkin would have lost and he's a huge Trump supporter and never hid that

Yes he did.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

No, he did not.

But regardless, the main thing is McAuliffe is out and that is the best thing one could hope for.
