Thank goodness as of Jan 20th we have a dignified, mature, statesman as our President....after four years of a bumbling, incompetent, fool....who with every word or action proved he was nothing but a failed businessman and former reality TV host...and puppet for Putin...

Anodyne pap that fails to mention how US Officials warned the UK about inflaming tensions in Ireland by not compromising with the EU and not respecting the Good Friday Agreement.

Britain hoped to secure a quick trade agreement with the U.S. after its official departure from the EU in January. The change in administration in Washington leaves prospects of a deal uncertain.

Carrot and stick, something Lying Johnson can understand.

Some on the British side have viewed Biden warily because of his heritage.

Biden's American, born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. This "heritage card" that American politicians like to play doesn't mean anything outside the country. The last guy tried bragging about his Scottish mother but everyone up there just hates his guts and mocked him everywhere he went.

They are one of our closest allies and it’s nice to see the relationship strengthen after Trump damaged it with his bullying, ignorance and buffoonery.

The relationship has always been strong.......

Any foreign leader would rather deal with a weaker counterpart.

Biden should have the red carpet rolled out for him especially in China and Russia.

Nah, they prefer dealing with their elected puppets (Russia) and long-term business partners (China)....

Didn't you notice all the CCP members wear red Chinese-made Trump Collection ties?

https://money.cnn.com/2016/03/08/news/economy/donald-trump-trade/index.html

And they really like taking advantage someone who thinks Colorado is on our southern border and that the Brits had airfields here in 1776...

Parallels between Johnson and Trump are often made, but there’s a simple difference.

Trump was and is an idiot pretending to be an intelligent man. Johnson is an intelligent man who adopts the public persona of a bumbling idiot.

It must be strange for the world political leaders to get back treating the US president as a politician instead of a celebrity with too much power. This is a time for cooperation and discussing things with a cool head, so it is encouraging to see this can be done even with people that have so many differences in opinion and priorities.

And the buffoonery continues.......

Biden's... "heritage card" that American politicians like to play doesn't mean anything outside the country.

But inside the country it means a powerful (and these days, bilateral) bloc in Congress who must be satisfied that the Good Friday Agreement is being protected before the UK gets a trade deal.

The last guy tried bragging about his Scottish mother but everyone up there just hates his guts and mocked him everywhere he went.

Ireland has gone a long way from an impoverished backwater where every home gave pride of place to portraits of JFK and the Pope, to a pluralist, highly educated, socially liberal democracy.

Biden will still attract a lot of affection across the island, though. Even in the North, where the militant pro-British bloc is now a political minority (from Belfast City Council through the devolved Stormont Assembly to Westminster, where 3 out of the 4 Belfast MPs are Irish nationalists), there will be a lot of expectation from the majority of renewed esteem for the beleaguered peace process.

As long as the Brits learn that they need to respect the agreements they signed up to

Don't dare mess Ireland up

We should be grateful for our allies putting up with us for 4 years. And we should make sure another Trump NEVER happens again.

It’s actually quite a compliment to England that Biden visited British Isles first.

They are one of our closest allies and it’s nice to see the relationship strengthen after Trump damaged it with his bullying, ignorance and buffoonery.

Can Biden undo Brexit ?

Can Biden undo Brexit ?

Who says he's trying too?

@Commodore Perry thanks but that comment was meant for a different thread:

You're welcome; I still liked the retort regardless.

Geriatric meets Gerrymander and, divided by a common tongue and different interests, US-UK relations might not be plain sailing after all, especially as shambolic BoJo might easily stumble over the sentimental roots of the "Irishman". I only hope Assange won't be offered up to Biden as a political pawn in the UK's opening move of its customary, servile "Atlantic Gambit".

Welcome to a new era in US foreign policy, in which we get outmaneuvered at every turn by our friends and foes.

Sipping' Joe is a nice guy for sure.

And you know what they say about nice guys.

If by "rebounded" you mean that other nations which are supposed to be partners go back to taking advantage of America, countries that are adversaries get stronger and China eats USA's lunch again? That rebound?
