isn’t that called “interfering in a sovereign nation”?

What’s been happening in Mexico, during the migration wave and the lifting of Title 42, a measure imposed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
From El Periódico:
Mexico deported more than 114,000 foreigners in 2021, according to data from the Migration Policy Unit of the country's Interior Ministry. And from January 1 to April 13 of this year, Mexican authorities intercepted 115,379 migrants, of whom 15% were minors, mainly from Central American nations.

The unmistakable message from Andrés Manuel López Obrador being that whatever affects the U.S. has an impact on Mexico. The message, in turn, from the U.S., is to acknowledge Mexico’s role, and to encourage it to continue as it “is working with its allies in the region "to create a more cohesive and global approach" to manage migratory flows in the continent.” So far it has it has signed agreements with Costa Rica and Panama. Much more work to do, particularly with Mexico’s border neighbors, Guatemala and Belize.

Why don’t they meet AT the border and see first hand what is going on?

This is where we should be investing out resources. If we don’t tackle the pressure for people to migrate - economic, insecurity - then this flow to US border will continue.

One odd thing from Obrador's call with Biden.
When describing the call, Obrador told El Siglo de Torreón:
The paper didn't say who was not invited by the U.S. to the Cumbre de las Américas.

According to other declarations Obrador also said that there was not even a single disagreement during the call, so this can be just one of the frequent appeals he likes to make even when they are not necessary.
