“Voters won’t forget $7 gas prices, the explosion in crime, inflation hitting 40-year highs, the crisis at our border,” Maryott said in a statement.

I'd be more impressed if you actually had a plan to combat these problems. But the GoP doesn't have one. Their plan is have to vote for Medicare every year.

The president’s return to heavily Democratic California in the run-up to Election Day speaks to the looming threat for his party in a turbulent midterm election year when Republicans appear poised to take control of the House, a grim prospect for Biden heading into the second half of his term.

The gridlock is a constant feature of the American democratic duopoly. Minority rights are expanded or curtailed, environmental protections are expanded or rolled back.

Funny that the thing that persists across party changes in the legislative and executive is corporate welfare and tax cuts for the rich.

Those never get rolled back and proposals for wealth taxes or capital gains hikes never gain traction.

Minority rights are expanded or curtailed,

In California? How so?

environmental protections are expanded or rolled back.

Not in California.

Funny that the thing that persists across party changes in the legislative and executive is corporate welfare and tax cuts for the rich.

California is the affluents refuge.

Those never get rolled back and proposals for wealth taxes or capital gains hikes never gain traction

Hmmm….

They sent Biden to the safest held Democrat state to “help”?

Just further proves next eeek gonna be messy for Dems.

4 ( +19 / -15 )

Either way - President Biden is done !

and circling the drain rapidly !

He wont ever be President again

I wasn't a big fan of Trump but however Biden has made Trump not look as ridiculous as before.

Get rid of Biden ASAP !

There seems to be some with the wholly mistaken belief that Biden won’t be president next week, next month, next year and the year after that.

Biden will be President until January 20th 2025.

-8 ( +8 / -16 )

Biden will be President until January 20th 2025.

But heavily neutered.

5 ( +18 / -13 )

Biden will be President until January 20th 2025.

Yep it’s called a “lame duck” for a reason. From the guy who claims gas was already $5 when he took over. (Spoiler: that’s not even close to true)

How will the GOP lower the gas prices which are being set by Big Oil which is making massive profits?

Biden is still a much better president than having an idiotic Trump leading the country.

The GQP has actually said “elect us and THEN we will tell you what we are going to do.”

They have no plan.

Unfortuately, I think that the Democrats did not make their case on economics or crime to their detriment.

mine would hope that voters in PA and GA would not consider a snake oil salesman and an abortionist, fake cop with 4 kids by 4 women with a history of abuse qualified candidates for public office.

How will the GOP lower the gas prices

Same way they did before Biden took over when gas was around $2.50.

Poor Biden. thought he had a secret quid pro quo in place with Saudi but they played him. Seems they don’t care to help him with his election

How will the GOP lower the gas prices which are being set by Big Oil which is making massive profits?

https://ricochet.com/podcast/daily-signal/rep-debbie-lesko-reveals-gop-plan-to-lower-gas-prices/

Rep. Debbie Lesko, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, has some answers on today’s edition of “The Daily Signal Podcast.”

Lesko, R-Ariz., pledges that if the GOP regains the majority in Congress, lawmakers will act swiftly to reduce gas prices and increase America’s energy independence.

“Republicans will introduce legislation to codify into law some of the rules and regulations that the Trump administration put forward … to reduce the time for permitting of new production facilities, reduce the time of permitting for new pipelines, and help Americans increase U.S. oil and gas production,” Lesko says.

“When Republicans come into control, we want to put America first,” she says.

Lesko discusses the Biden administration’s failure to manage gas prices, and what congressional Republicans see as the solutions.

They have no plan.

Don’t need a plan until you have the job. Just point out the obvious failure of the people in the job now. and that they have no plan either. and say “but hey gas was $2 last time we were in charge and 2 million people weren’t walking into the country.”

so win and then make a plan like before to put things back to what they were when it was good.

You did not post an answer to a serious question. In the linked article, the largest part of the cost is the price of the crude set by Big Oil. The only government part is taxed at about 12%.

The oil world changed with the pandemic and Big Oil shut down oil fields to save money. At one point it ran out of shortage for oil with the cost of the steel barrel costing more than the crude.

When the demand increased Big Oil wasn't ready to increase production causing shortages.

America has less than one month of diesel left.

Most of the diesel fuel consumed in the United States is produced in U.S. oil refineries.

So I will ask you again, how will the GOP lower the gas prices?

America is a net exporter of oil.

How much petroleum does the United States import and export?

America did not give Ukraine a blank check. The GOP supports Ukraine. The total so far is $25 billion. The defense budget is $800 billion.

How many illegal immigrants have entered America since 2020?

DHS and CIS Estimates of the Illegal Immigrant Population, January 2016 to February 2022 (in millions)

Nope that’s not why gas was $2.37 when Biden took over.

try again.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

While the public may worry most about the price of gas - a price the government doesn't control unless they want a socialist system.of price controls, the real thing at stake is democracy itself.

If the the Republicans win both houses and then the presidency, the American experiment in democracy may well be over.

All government money is from taxes. The majority of American support Ukraine.

In the constitution, there are many missing rights there as no right to vote. America is part of NATO.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Nope that’s not why gas was $2.37 when Biden took over.

Lol yes, that is precisely why.

Oil prices plummet when demand does, and there was little demand in the middle of the pandemic.

Not looking very good for the dems... lol

For that to happen the people would have to vote the GOP back into office because they are dissatisfied with the current direction (as up to 81% are).

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

the GOP could ask Big Oil why they are producing less gas than before the pandemic. It could also ask them why there is only one month of diesel supply left.

Oct 2019. 13,000 thousand barrels per day.

Aug 2022. 12,000 thousand barrels per day.

Did you miss this caption?

imperiled by fallout from $7-a-gallon gas, worrisome crime rates and spiking prices on everything from avocados to ground beef.

People also worried about feeding their families, being victim of a crime or going homeless basically. What use is "democracy" if the average can't live?

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

It’s not complicated. Return to the trump policies that allowed it to be $2.37 last time they were in charge.

Again, the reason gas was so cheap was because the economy was bad. Many, many businesses were shut down and people weren't flying or driving.

The complete lack of any specificity suggests to me that Rightists don't actually know what any of those policies are or were.

The undocumented population in 2019 was 11.48 million which fell to 10.22 million by Jan 2020 and has risen back to 11.46 million by Feb 2022.

As if anyone believes the DHS or even Myorkas.

So according to the California border patrol and border patrol agencies and looking at the arrest and detention records, estimate suggests that there have been a bit over 5 million illegals that have entered the US since this administration has taken office, but arguing about the numbers won’t matter to the Democrats, first of all, no one is listening to them anymore, no one is believing them, especially DHS, and within four days and Democrats won’t have a thing anymore. When it comes to immigration and the border, those days will be gone, and those days are numbered.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

That's an interesting admission - "They have no plan and don't need one"...

The Biden performance has been so horrific that people feel anything is better than that hot mess. So yeah.

That's a great explanation of why Biden won in 2020...and will win again in 2024...while the previous "hot mess" will be making license plates at Rikers Island..

when the head coach is 3-23 the fans just want him gone. Then they give the new coach time to make a plan and turn it around.

Saudi sides with Russia.

America is a net exporter of oil, not a net importer.

Again, the reason gas was so cheap was because the economy was bad.

So why isn’t gas cheap now? The economy is even worse. Recession and 8-9 percent inflation when it was 1.4% Biden took over. Is GDP even back from negative to 0% yet?

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Fracking baby!

Fetterman lied that he had “always” been for fracking, right? So it must be ok.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

So why isn’t gas cheap now?

Because people are working, going out, traveling, driving, and flying.

The economy is even worse.

Says who?

Recession and 8-9 percent inflation when it was 1.4% Biden took over. Is GDP even back from negative to 0% yet?

Yes, the GDP, which is a bad metric for judging economic growth, is growing again.

When Americans vote, they expect their elected politicians to look after their concerns first.

Call me when either the Democrat or Republican parties ever do this.

The COVID pandemic response was the biggest wealth transfer in history, bigger than 2008.

Immigrants are not responsible for the downgrade of the American middle class, nor mask mandates.

Both Democats and Republicans need their bogeyman to move forward their neo-feudalist agendas.

All of them.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Republicans win because they have a simple message for simple-minded people: fear, grievance, and revenge. Remember, the GOP has no platform (try to find it if you don't believe me!) and no plan. House Republicans could be drafting legislation and selling it to the public, but they aren't. The only proposals I've heard are to fire new IRS auditors who would crack down on billionaire tax cheats, cut off aid to Ukraine, criminalize abortion nationwide, and drill for more oil (which according to experts wouldn't do a thing to lower gas prices).

Republicans win because there are a lot of feeble-minded Americans who lack media literacy or critical thinking skills, don't want to deal with complexity or nuance, think only about what they themselves can get, and don't imagine any long-term vision for the country.
