Let's hope that Biden urges Israeli leaders to cease their Palestinian land grabs, bulldozing of homes, apartheid policies, brutal occupation and to accept a viable two state solution with a ceasefire from both sides.

A centerpiece of Biden's visit will be talks in Jeddah with Saudi leaders including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, accused by the U.S. intelligence community of being behind the 2018 murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In the G7 "rules-based order" Israel and Saudi Arabia have get out of jail free cards.

MbS, likePutin is a warmonger who can get away with whatever he wants because of control over oil and gas, making those profiting most from the fossil economy their vassals. Biden is another enabler of leaders like MbS, MbZ and Putin, the globe's warmongers and overlords. Biden talked big about alternatives to burning huge amounts of oil and gas, but he and his centrist Democrats remain beholden to the US and global establishment running the fossil economy. At least Biden has been willing to talk about alternatives to burning huge amounts, to little avail, but better than holding campaign fundraisers at his resort where the world's oil and gas barons paid him off, while making up crackpot tales about wind farms. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/09/big-oil-trump-campaign-donations-fossil-fuel-industry

He said the two nations share common values.

Biden has BLM riots and Israel has oppressed Palestinians. White christians stole the land off native Indians giving them little pockets of land, Israel Zionists stole the land of the Palestinians giving them little pockets, USA has mass shooting of children, Israel has army and settler shootings of Palestinians children, USA has mass incarcerations of minorities, Israel has mass incarcerations of Palestinians, many countries hate USA, many countries hate Israel.

he is so right.

The meeting is a reversal of Biden's previous position of making Saudi Arabia a "pariah" over Khashoggi's death. How the White House handles the optics of the meeting and whether photos will be released of it will be closely watched.

he gonna have to spend the whole trip fist bumping people to avoid shaking hands with anyone related to the supposed "pariah". (COVID!, depsite him shaking hands with others yesterday and forgetting today when he shook hands with Netanyahu)

I am sure the liberal media will obediently push the narrative and not publish any "inconvenient" photos of Biden begging for oil or being overly friendly. But, as Obama said dont underestimate Biden's ability to f things up.

These countries are so two faced.

Israel destroys and murders Palestinians.

Biden: ...

Saudi Arabia bombs and starves out Yemeni children.

Biden: SEND 300 mil of money and weapons now!!

Trump and Trump deflection.

The article is about Biden and his Israel trip, is it not?

the "honor" of the holocaust, did he say?

If the enemies of Israel laid down their weapons it would be the end of the war. If Israel laid down its weapons it would be the end of Israel.

I for one stand with the one civilized nation in that entire God forsaken mass of desert.

Trump and Trump deflection.

Trump is mentioned a couple times in the article, and and Trump help[ed set the stage for what's happening in the ME. Recall Trump's advisor and son-in-law Jared got 2 billion from the Saudis. and who knows how much from Qatar, and then the UAE for his golf course, and how much from Israel for the naming rights to a settlement there.

Biden is visiting the WORST human rights violator by an order of magnitude in the Middle East to discuss...The human rights records of other states.

Then it's off to the second worst human rights violator in the Middle East to praise them for openly assisting the first.

Just in case you were wondering if you should believe the US about who the bad guys are in what was once democratic, unified, peaceful Ukraine.

Kinda surprised the left wing of the Democratic party isnt pushing for the US to move their embassy back to Tel Aviv. Guess they like Trump moving it to the actual capital of Israel, but don't have the huevos to say so. Maybe Biden can build on the Abraham Accords as well...

As for his trip to Saudi, only thing we can hope is that Joe's arthritis doesn't get in the way of his dropping to his knees in front of the Saudi king. Biden needs Saudi cooperation in the energy field since he has effectively kneecaped the fossil fuel industry in the US.

Biden got serious political problems,it not because,he not doing nothing, but doing too much for Ukrainain ,lots of American see their hope and dreams dwindle everyday, the see these big money giving to Ukrainain, that do not help him political, but make his re election hope dwindle Beto and Newson are waiting in the wing

Richard, what country are you talking about? Surely not the one that has both Arab AND Jewish members of its parliament? Nor the only one in the region that has a Pride Parade (how intolerant)?

"You do not need to be a Jew to be a Zionist," Biden added, voicing support for the ideology behind Israel's foundation on lands with ancient Jewish roots, and which is deeply resented by many Palestinians.

Nice damage limitation spin, Thomson Reuters. Fact is, Zionism is deeply resented by many people around the world, not just Palestinians.

The double standards on display are just sickening.

At least Biden has been willing to talk about alternatives to burning huge amounts, to little avail,

Because he knows the reality that it’s a far-fetched dream

but better than holding campaign fundraisers at his resort where the world's oil and gas barons paid him off, while making up crackpot tales about wind farms.

So we should invest in more Chinese technology, put even more Americans out of business and sell our oil to nations that are hostile towards us, yeah….makes sense.

Trump is mentioned a couple times in the article, and and Trump help[ed set the stage for what's happening in the ME. Recall Trump's advisor and son-in-law Jared got 2 billion from the Saudis.

The Dems tried that and they still couldn’t pin that on Trump, now Biden on the other hand has a lot of unanswered questions on his plate, more to come

and who knows how much from Qatar, and then the UAE for his golf course, and how much from Israel for the naming rights to a settlement there.

To be honest, Biden begging the Saudis for oil rather than using our own oil is beyond the worst geopolitical idea ever. First capitulating to Iran. and now the Saudis. Astonishing.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Bass4,the US government has almost 785 million barrel of oil, that can be shipped from tankers,in hours to be processed the same day , stored offshore from the Gulf of Mexico, unless he trying to get oil for Europe, when is the last time a refinery's ran out of oil

fist bumping some, handshaking others. Mixed messaging.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Yrral, Can you show evidence of this offshore oil? Maybe you are talking about the SPR, but it is stored in underground caves within the borders of the US. It is also being drained by Biden. And some sold to China.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

If that technology works, yes, absolutely. Or do you think the US should stick with outdated technology just because the better stuff isn't invented in the US? That's an excellent strategy to fall behind and lose your competitive edge.

Ok, so China, India should use fossil fuels to continue to grow, expand, and develop their economies and we need to regress, depend more on China and pollute the environment even more by using renewable energy to get there, makes a lot of sense.

Protecting outdated sectors might save some jobs in that sector, but will eventually cost you more jobs throughout the economy. so yeah, some business will inevitably go out of business. Rather than pumping money in dying industries, put some of that money into retraining people, and subsidies to relaunch other more competitive businesses.

Which is stupid, doesn’t make sense and is more of the reason as to why people in the US have had enough of the Democrats and their idiotic war on fossil fuel. I agree we should find other alternative fuel sources, but doing so and depriving Americans by force and pushing them to buy EV at 60-80K a pop? Not to mention while we are having a 8.6 inflation rate, this administration is expecting everyone to just switch over? They’re not dealing with reality.

The US isn't selling oil to Russia, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba. Whom are these countries that are hostile to the US??

EVERYONE YOU JUST MENTIONED.

The top three destinations of US oil are: Mexico, Canada and India.

Feel free to explain how hostile they are.

Biden's trip could produce more steps toward normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia, historic adversaries but also two powerful U.S. allies with shared concerns about Iran.

That is progress, if Biden is following Trump's precedent of normalizing relations between Israel and other MidEast Countries.

Let's hope that Biden urges Israeli leaders to cease their Palestinian land grabs, bulldozing of homes, apartheid policies, brutal occupation and to accept a viable two state solution with a ceasefire from both sides.

Maybe urging Palestinian Arabs to stop terrorist attacks on Israeli citizens should receive precedence. Then everything else falls into place.

Negotiating with a terrorist government like Hamas though, well, good luck.

Which is completely unrelated to what I was saying. I never said what you claim I said. Read my post again, maybe more slowly this time, and try answering to my actual argument.

Then don’t insinuate that the fossil fuel industry is on its last leg.

EVERYONE YOU JUST MENTIONED.

Feel free to explain how hostile they are.

I already did, read the articles.

You claim the US is selling oil to hostile nations, I point out that the nations that are hostile to the US (Russia, Iran etc.)

I didn’t say them and they are definitely not our friends or an ally especially this administration.

Then I point out that the actual buyers of US oil are countries like Mexico,

Allowing and not stopping illegals to enter the US is not exactly a friend, neither is Venezuela.
