In contrast to the last 8 years, it's so refreshing to hear top U.S. government officials saying things that are actually true and that reflect reality.

VP Biden is a big-mouthed idiot. He has been virtually inviting hostile foreign nations to "test" the US and he has the gall to say that Cheney is 'dead wrong' - which seems to be his favorite phrase. If the last administration left us weaker than before, why did Obama retain Bush's Secretary of Defense? The Obama administration is closing down Gitmo and has already stated that some of the terrorists kept there will be released into the United States. Obama is going to cut defense spending, cut the development of the proven missile defense system, and is going around the world telling everyone how horrible America is. No Joe, that doesn't make the country safer by any stretch of the imagination.

Wolfpack, the 2010 defense budget has gone from $655 to $664 billion. How you or Sean Hannity can call that a cut in defense spending shows the angry little fantasy world you guys live in. And about that "cut" in military spending, what we're looking at is a "cut" in R&D. The cuts will mostly come in the way of developmental programs with a history of huge cost overruns. The Air Force is going to have to make due with a few less F-22s but the rank and file in the military won't be affected by this. Sec. Gates is trying to get military planners to quit planning for the cold war to go hot and to focus more on smaller insurgent type armies. This means the big pie in the sky programs aren't really necessary.

As far as the actual troops go, their funding is going to be increased.

When the right-wing shrieking heads start going off that Pres. Obama is cutting their funding, it's important that we look at the specifics. If we don't, they'll be howling that Pres. Obama doesn't support the troops.
