The US has accepted refugees over many decades from around the world. 15K during a pandemic makes lots of sense, so that nobody would travel and knock on the door. It is historically low.

I have no problem with refugees who are vetted, lined up for entrance, have communities and jobs waiting for them once they arrive and join in the American dream. Welcome. Provided the total number of refugees don't exceed what can realistically be supported.

The problem is when 100K people each money show up either at a border, or "magically" inside the US, and demand asylum. Especially when 10-20K of those are children without parents. Raising children who don't already speak English and have to be cared for no matter what isn't optional. Parents who do that to their children - I can't imagine. Dog will judge them.

You don’t say.....

The President’s directive today has been the subject of some confusion," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in an afternoon statement.

A bit of good news I guess.

The surge of illegal immigrants across the southern border will eclipse this number, and those will NOT have been screened for COVID-19 or anything else for that matter. Utter ineptitude disguised as leadership. 86 - 46.

.... so basically giving control over the border to Mexican cartels. Brilliant policy by President Biden.

Can you point to a clear correlation between Mexican Cartels and President Biden?

“(Not holding my breath for a factual answer, alas...)”

The Truth is, the US isn't really ready for an influx of refugees - neither through recent quarantine needs, nor through willingness.

Who is actually in command? Seems to not be the office occupant.
