Biden, seeing 'turning point' for democracy, offers funding push at summit

Unfortunately with Europe's security on the line with Putin's war, all focus must be made on defeating Russia to advance democracy.

China -- identified by Washington as the sole long-term adversary to the U.S.-led liberal international order -- and Russia both described the summit as hypocritical.

They are not wrong. The problem is neo-liberalism though, exploitative late stage capitalism that gussies itself up in the language of "freedom and democracy". The West has to become truer to its ideals.

Biden nonetheless pointed to progress including efforts by Angola to build an independent judiciary, anti-corruption plans by the Dominican Republic and Croatia and, at home, U.S. voters' rejection of Donald Trump-backed deniers of the 2020 election results.

Orwellian double-talk of the foulest kind. When Biden says "democracy" he doesn't mean a democracy, he means a country ruled by a financial oligarchy; when he says "autocracy" he means any country that believes in free or subsidized healthcare and education and reasonably priced housing for all.

The US didn't lose a generation to a war in Ukraine. Companies aren't fleeing the US because they don't trust its government. Finally, the US didn't grow old before it grew rich. By all means, though, place faith in your alliance of self-interested parties. It will surely be there for you when times are tough.
