The old alliance against fascism needs to be active again.

Trump told aides he didn't want to go because he viewed the dead soldiers as “suckers” and “losers.”

That wasn't the only time Trump insulted veterans.

The old alliance against fascism needs to be active again.

It is. About 90% of the world is in it....

6 ( +9 / -3 )

However, subsequent reporting found that Trump told aides he didn't want to go because he viewed the dead soldiers as “suckers” and “losers.”

Oh yeah totally unbiased media huh? That’s a debunked allegation by a disgruntled ex employee.

“Democracy is literally on the ballot this year.”

i wish Democrats would learn what the word “literally”means.

-12 ( +8 / -20 )

Oh yeah totally unbiased media huh? That’s a debunked allegation by a disgruntled ex employee.

Is that what Fox is telling you? (Fox lies you know).

i wish Democrats would learn what the word “literally”means.

It's figuratively on the ballot. But the incorrect usage of the word doesn't change the direness of the situation.

I wish Republicans knew how to capitalize their 'I's.

Oh yeah totally unbiased media huh? That’s a debunked allegation by a disgruntled ex employee.

I remember that one, and the msm ran wild with that garbage.

i wish Democrats would learn what the word “literally”means.

Go to California and New York, that’s their vision of democracy and they feel the rest of the country should emulate them. Smh…

Remembering those who fought the Nazis and died or wounded.

"The landing was devastating: 4,414 Allied troops were killed on D-Day and more than 5,000 were wounded. During the Battle of Normandy, 73,000 Allied forces were killed and 153,000 wounded. The battle — and especially Allied bombings of French villages and cities — killed around 20,000 French civilians."

Now we have another major war in Europe with Russia invading and attacking Ukraine.

Now we have another major war in Europe with Russia invading and attacking Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine is nowhere near close to scale or to what the Second World War was.

-13 ( +4 / -17 )

The war in Ukraine is nowhere near close to scale or to what the Second World War was.

It is a major war in Europe. 7 million Ukraine refugees are in European countries.

The first since the Yugoslav Wars resulted in the deaths of 140,000 people. 31 March 1991 – 13 August 2001.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

It is a major war in Europe. 7 million Ukraine refugees are in European countries.

But nowhere near the levels of WWII

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Next week elections will be held to vote new MEP for the EU parliament. The extreme right-wing groups are gaining ground and will have a larger section of the votes. Fascist ideology is on the rise.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

But nowhere near the levels of WWII

That is not enough to dismiss the Ukraine war like it does not matter. It has caused major problems across the European countries.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

The extreme right-wing groups are gaining ground and will have a larger section of the votes.

That’s a very good and encouraging thing in my opinion.

Fascist ideology is on the rise.

It has been for decades, the globalists literally destroyed Europe.

That is not enough to dismiss the Ukraine war like it does not matter. It has caused major problems across the European countries.

Oh, it has, but it’s just disingenuous to claim that the war is on the similar scale as the world war was and it’s not.

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

So it’s a war again?

the other day the story was Biden had no involved the US in any new “wars”.

-10 ( +5 / -15 )

The US has no direct involvement with the Ukraine war.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

“When you’re 81 years old, and three-fourths of the country thinks you’re too old, one of the things you have to do is to show strength," he said. “That’s what he’s got to do over there. He’s got to show strength.”

Good luck with that Joe.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

That’s a debunked allegation by a disgruntled ex employee.

Debunked, eh?

How about this one. It’s on video:

“He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

—Donald Trump

He then lied by denying he ever said it.

John Kelly’s word is more believable than Trump’s.

9 ( +13 / -4 )

The war in Ukraine is nowhere near close to scale or to what the Second World War was.

But nowhere near the levels of WWII

Oh, it has, but it’s just disingenuous to claim that the war is on the similar scale as the world war was and it’s not.

No one claimed it was. What are you on about?

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Good luck with that Joe.

I don't think "Joe" is looking for luck from the Russians.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Debunked, eh?

Yes.

How about this one. It’s on video:

“He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

—Donald Trump

And?

He then lied by denying he ever said it.

The media again took that out of context and focused on that one snippet as usual.

John Kelly’s word is more believable than Trump’s.

Who?

-13 ( +4 / -17 )

However, subsequent reporting found that Trump told aides he didn't want to go because he viewed the dead soldiers as “suckers” and “losers.”

More MAGA-untruths...they don't even have the courage to admit their Great Orange Oracle's own words...

"Former White House chief of staff John Kelly confirmed several remarks his former boss, former President Trump, reportedly made during his time in the administration, including one where Trump referred to dead U.S. service members as “suckers.”

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4235005-john-kelly-confirms-trumps-suckers-remark-about-war-dead/

Kelly - a four star General who's own son was lost on combat in Afghanistan...

Just like the "stain" of his recent felony convictions, Trump will wear this much more egregious stain forever...

The stain of a cowardly draft-dodger who insults our heroes who have their life for their country...

I can only imagine what his fellow inmates at Rikers Island will think of that...

It has been for decades, the globalists literally destroyed Europe.

Who are those globalists you write about?

That is not enough to dismiss the Ukraine war like it does not matter. It has caused major problems across the European countries.

Oh, it has, but it’s just disingenuous to claim that the war is on the similar scale as the world war was and it’s not.

Where did I post that the Ukraine war is the same size as WW2? However many experts think it has the potential to become WW3.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

More MAGA-untruths...they don't even have the courage to admit their Great Orange Oracle's own words...

We do, now ask the left why they only used only cherry-picked parts of Trump’s comments?

Kelly - a four star General who's own son was lost on combat in Afghanistan...

Ok and many other people died in Afghanistan, not just Kelly’s son.

Just like the "stain" of his recent felony convictions, Trump will wear this much more egregious stain forever...

No one really cares or is paying attention to his previous comments because we have more pressing problems in the U.S. that people are more concerned with.

The stain of a cowardly draft-dodger who insults our heroes who have their life for their country...

And praised them as well.

I can only imagine what his fellow inmates at Rikers Island will think of that...

That won’t happen.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

Who are those globalists you write about?

The world, Western Europe in particular.

That is not enough to dismiss the Ukraine war like it does not matter. It has caused major problems across the European countries.

I agree, I’m just stating that it’s not on the level as WWI or WWII.

Where did I post that the Ukraine war is the same size as WW2?

-Recap:

The war in Ukraine is nowhere near close to scale or to what the Second World War was.

It is a major war in Europe. 7 million Ukraine refugees are in European countries.

It is bad, but nowhere nearly as bad as the previous world wars were

However many experts think it has the potential to become WW3.

We should have never gotten involved in this mess.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

bass4funk

Any thoughts or comments on D-Day and what happened?

"The estimated total battle casualties for the United States were 135,000, including 29,000 killed and 106,000 wounded and missing."

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Yes, I'm sure the independents will agree that Trump should have denigrated a war hero.

so anyone with honorable military service is exempt from criticism for their post military actions? That’s interesting.

no independent voter cares in 2024 what Trump said about John McCain in 2015.

he was even even elected President already in 2016. After that.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

used only cherry-picked parts of Trump’s comments?

Trump has repeatedly denigrated veterans, particularly those who were wounded, captured, or killed. Nobody's "cherry picking".

He didn't want to see wheelchair-bound vets in a military parade because he thought they were pathetic and it would make him look bad.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Any thoughts or comments on D-Day and what happened?

Sad and somber day, heart always goes out to these heroes.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

they were fine in 2016 with what was deservedly said about one specific war hero who embarrassed himself as a politician post military.

Then I'm sure that you'll be ok with the Democrats making the mistake of pointing out his comments to the independents.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Who are those globalists you write about?

The world, Western Europe in particular.

Those are countries, not people. Who are the globalists you write about? You are vague.

That is not enough to dismiss the Ukraine war like it does not matter. It has caused major problems across the European countries.

I agree, I’m just stating that it’s not on the level as WWI or WWII.

I never said it was. But it is a war happening now.

Where did I post that the Ukraine war is the same size as WW2?

-Recap:

It is a major war in Europe. 7 million Ukraine refugees are in European countries.

It is bad, but nowhere nearly as bad as the previous world wars were

Again you are the only one making that comparison.

However many experts think it has the potential to become WW3.

We should have never gotten involved in this mess.

Really. And after Ukraine Putin marches into the EU countries. What then?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Those are countries, not people. Who are the globalists you write about? You are vague.

I was very clear

That is not enough to dismiss the Ukraine war like it does not matter. It has caused major problems across the European countries.

But not on a global scale

I never said it was. But it is a war happening now.

Hmmm

Where did I post that the Ukraine war is the same size as WW2?

-Recap:

It is a major war in Europe. 7 million Ukraine refugees are in European countries.

It is bad, but nowhere nearly as bad as the previous world wars were

There you go.

Again you are the only one making that comparison.

No

However many experts think it has the potential to become WW3.

It does which is the reason why Biden should have never gotten us involved in this

Really. And after Ukraine Putin marches into the EU countries. What then?

Europe needs to figure that out.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Then I'm sure that you'll be ok with the Democrats making the mistake of pointing out his comments to the independents.

help yourself if you think deserved comments about a single person,John MCCain, in 2015 are an election winner for you in 2024.

they weren’t in 2016.

We do,

Good. Glad you believe the COVID vaccine is safe and works...

Ok and many other people died in Afghanistan, not just Kelly’s son.

More MAGA insults for our military heroes...

Just like the "stain" of his recent felony convictions, Trump will wear this much more egregious stain forever...

No one really cares or is paying attention to his previous comments because we have more pressing problems in the U.S. that people are more concerned with.

MAGA-coping...

The stain of a cowardly draft-dodger who insults our heroes who have their life for their country...

And praised them as well.

BINGO! Thank you for finally admitting and owning his degenerate comments...

I can only imagine what his fellow inmates at Rikers Island will think of that...

That won’t happen.

Let me borrow a post from someone yesterday: "Wait. I have to take YOUR word for it? Who are you? ROFL! Funny."

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Really. And after Ukraine Putin marches into the EU countries. What then?

Europe needs to figure that out.

Did you forget the US is an ally of Europe and a NATO member? Any war with Russia will directly involve American troops on the ground.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Out of respect for the occasion, 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, Biden/Trump could leave the petty politicking at home.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Was it a really just war,you had White Supremacy on both sides of the conflict,Black were not intergrated with fighting unit until Truman intergrated the Armed Forces, their were no basis different between German beliefs in the lots of American

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Amazing how rattled and desperate our MAGA-friends here are - pretty clear they are crushed by Trump's recent 34 convictions - convictions they all swore in posts here "would never happen"....ROFL...

Here's an example just on this thread of their self-contradictions;

First they say Trump's slanderous comments calling our Vets "suckers and losers" was debunked...

Oh yeah totally unbiased media huh? That’s a debunked allegation by a disgruntled ex employee.

I remember that one, and the msm ran wild with that garbage.

Then flips completely and admits in a later post that Trump did indeed say this...

The stain of a cowardly draft-dodger who insults our heroes who have their life for their country...

And praised them as well.

This is MAGA-world - flipping and flopping - they haven't the faintest idea what they believe...

MAGA-meltdown...

7 ( +8 / -1 )

help yourself if you think deserved comments about a single person,John MCCain, in 2015 are an election winner for you in 2024.

Yes, I think the democrats will!

You must be very happy about that. Surely pointing out Trump's comments are a way to alienate the independents who are supporters of the military.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Surely, considering this is Japan Today, this article should be about various world leaders attending the D-Day commemorations rather than highlighting Biden.

This is MAGA-world - flipping and flopping -

Two different people can’t flip flop. It’s called differing opinions. And proof of not being a cult.

You busted us. Your Qonspiracy theory is indeed true, and you have exposed our nefarious cabal's intention to falsely claim Trump is a convicted felon. And we would have gotten away for it too, if it weren't for you right-wingers!

5 ( +8 / -3 )

If you have a political quarrel with someone, it's OK to denigrate their military service. It's only natural.

Yes, it's normal to criticize a war hero for being captured and becoming a POW. It clearly makes one a piece of garbage.

Who?

John Kelly. Marine Corps General and Trump's Chief of Staff.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

My gratitude to everyone who made sacrifices during WWII to defeat fascism.

My sympathy to them too whenever their memory is used to score usually unrelated political points. WWII was the defeat of rampant German nationalism. It must not be used to promote or justify other nationalism.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

No, I am not.

My positions are crystal clear, don’t change when a narrative does, and need not align with others on “my team” or any media or leaders or even Trump.

can you honestly say the same?

(nope)

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

My positions are crystal clear, don’t change when a narrative does, and need not align with others on “my team” or any media or leaders or even Trump.

They don't even need to change when the facts prove them entirely wrong!

You're very clear on your positions no doubt.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Hundreds of thousands died fighting the Nazi fascists. Fascism must never again control Europe.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I bet he starts making a speech about the Korean War by accident. And he'll claim he was there, too.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

The D-Day Anniversary has nothing to do with Trump, Biden, or current American politics. Posters should not sully the memory of those who gave their lives.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

who's that WW2 veteran coming out of the Beast? Be respectful and give the man a wheelchair!

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

Who are we allies against,I see no looming threat,it only the insecure foreigner who need too hide behind the skirt of Lady Liberty, while they derived the values of Liberty Equality and Justice for All

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

One of my relatives (3rd Army) was there on the first day (maybe Utah). He survived for a few months after that only to be killed during the Battle of the Bulge. Now he's buried at the same U.S. military cemetery where Gen. Patton is buried in Luxembourg. Visited there once. All of the white marble grave stones are lined up with Patton's which is at the very front.

RIP

And not committing a conspiracy to steal the election through making hush money payments to porn stars in order to prevent the people from hearing the truth about your "salacious" indiscretions causing them to vote for "Lock Her Up" Hillary.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Storm, you think. the war could came to sooner ending,if their were not were not racial decrimination in the US military,I am not a grievance Black person, but feel racism played a role in the general morale of minority soldiers

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

However, subsequent reporting found that Trump told aides he didn't want to go because he viewed the dead soldiers as “suckers” and “losers.”

This comment shouldn’t have been included in the story.

This is primarily about remembering and honouring the deaths of people who lost their lives fighting against Nazism.

This trash comment does what he does in many situations - drags the whole thing down.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

It's almost unfathomable...

A President, or anyone really, saying to a 4-star General who has served his country for 40 years, and who lost a son in combat in Afghanistan...that our heroes lying in graves in Europe who defended us from Nazi terror and domination are "suckers and losers"....

I guess it's not unfathomable when that ex-President and convicted felon later posted about bringing a "unified Reich" to our country...

Every Biden article immediately becomes about Trump. with any negative comments about Biden immediately deleted.

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

As the book Precursor details, America came close to entering WW2 on the losing side. A look at the battles between the unglorious retreat from continental Europe of the minor Allies and their return makes it obvious that Russia is singlehandedly responsible for the ability of them to return because they had basically destroyed the German military capability to even slow the armies they'd driven before them not long before. And given that the core of the regime the US and it's EU underlings had installed after a coup against the last democratically elected government a united peaceful Ukraine will know for at least a generation venerate those that Russia had smashed through so that Europe could gain peace, well, Russia may be again waging a (localised) war against the enemies of peace to lay the foundation of a (globalized) peace.
