Get the money to Israel. Europe has to contribute more too.

Thuban

A huge number of House Republicans are going to vote against this amid the slaughter in Gaza.

No, they aren't. Helping Israel is the GOP's thing.

“The first priority of the country is our border, and making it secure," Johnson said.

Which is a bald-faced lie, because:

Republicans tanked a bipartisan border deal after Donald Trump encouraged them to; the bill would have denied migrants the ability to apply for asylum at the border if the number of daily crossings became unmanageable for authorities, among other major changes.

Mike has to grow a pair and stand up to his puppet master and get the house to actually do something.

Not going to happen, seal the border first and then you have Johnson’s attention otherwise, you’re just spinning your wheels.

Unfortunately, open border Mike Johnson isn't interested in sealing the border.

More Americans now support building a wall than do not.

So fully fund that without as priority to secure our own border first and then we can talk about other stuff.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Time is running out for MAGA Johnson to avoid living in disgrace the rest of his life.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

By "aid" they mean bombs, rockets and missiles, to be used against defenceless civilians in Gaza and other war zones.

Children are getting slaughtered.

Exactly. Well said Thuban.

More Americans now support building a wall than do not

But Trump built it and Mexico paid for it, right?

Not sure what the news is in Europe across the Atlantic, and as someone who’s from a border state, visit the border first and then give us an update.

yeah something like that.

Exactly.

https://nypost.com/2024/02/26/us-news/majority-of-americans-support-southern-border-wall-as-61-see-illegal-immigration-as-very-serious-problem-poll/

A new poll shows for the first time that a majority of Americans support building a wall along the US-Mexico border — while three-fifths of the country sees illegal immigration under President Biden as a “very serious” problem.

The Monmouth University survey released Monday found 53% of respondents favor building a border barrier while 46% say they are opposed.

Makes sense, none of these pinheaded Democrats care one iota for these people. Name me one Democrat that wants to live with these people or wants them to live with them in their communities.

So fully fund that without as priority to secure our own border first and then we can talk about other stuff.

Agreed.

Maybe a breakthrough could be achieved if Europe and US had a combined equal transparent financing support structure for Ukraine.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Easy solution, reinstate border polices in effect in early January 2021 that Biden Admin cancelled/reversed day #1 of their Admin, green lighting illegal immigration.

For example, Remain in Mexico, No Catch and Release. Not question of money but rather Executive Will & Intent.

FBI Director Wray's recent Congressional Testimony highly alarming, US facing GREATEST threats domestically he's every observed in his many decades, especially known terrorist entry, drug cartels and foreign operative from adversarial countries (Eg. Iran, China, etc.)

Voters care more about US security than Israel, Ukraine, etc.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is more interested in turning the USA into a Christian Nationalist state and helping DJT ascend to God Emperor status than solving immigration issues, making sure gov works, and saving lives through US international commitments.

Voters Give Biden Admin BIG Thumb's down on domestic security and increase in crime due to flood of illegal immigrants. Trump won Border/illegal immigration issue by 35pts in recent NBC poll.

Voters in NBC poll also favor Trump on Israel & Ukraine, but domestic Security & Safety their TOP priority. Voters want wall construction on southern border to continue.

SOH Johnson playing this well, like all funding battles it's give and take. If Biden wants money for Ukraine, there needs to be conditions, compromise and accountability.

US votes deserve it = Ukraine failed corrupt $black hole.

Wait, you think conservative states want to be woke progressive socialists??? Why on earth would they ever allow that?

and helping DJT ascend to God Emperor status than solving immigration issues,

He is the Republican leader of the party and Biden’s leading contender, why would they not?

making sure gov works, and saving lives through US international commitments.

Government doesn’t work and it’s definitely not saving lives as long as Russia is around.

Why? It doesn't work.

At the moment the Remain in Mexico policy is in effect.

Has it helped?

No.

millions of people crossing per year is just, plain nuts.

the congress is responsible for immigration laws and the executive branch enforces. starts with congress critters.

Big one's stopping Catch and Release and re-starting remain in OTHER countries, not simply Mexico. Plus, it takes cash to make it work for the OTHER countries. Trump had more than 10 counties as 'remain' partners.

Biden's desperate, Betting markets do not expect him to be on the ticket in Nov. Either M. Obama, G. Newsome and K. Harris is now more likely to head d's Nov ticket.

The MAGA states /electorate are being duped as usual by illogical MAGAism.

The longer the bipartisan border security/aide bill cleared by 70 votes in the Senate is neglected by Johnson and the Repubs, the more it makes it clear to all Americans that THEY are the open borders party...

Johnson said clearly last Nov - no Ukraine aid unless linked with border security - so that's what he got - a bill that tightens asylum, that gives $20 billion for more agents and equipment, and even has $700 million to complete Trump's "wall" he failed in four years to build...all negotiated by one of the most conservative Repub senators - Jim Lankford...

But then their Great Orange Apostle told them "go back on your word - leave border security alone so we can harangue about it for pure political purposes"....and the unsaid part - to allow more illegal maids at Bedminster...

https://www.vox.com/2019/2/4/18207096/victorina-morales-undocumented-immigrant-trump

The American public is already fed up with the Repubs bumbling incompetence - let the government shut down and it guarantees a Blue Wave in Nov...if he passes Ukraine aid and keeps the government open, the crazies in his own team mutiny and he gets tossed out and called a "lying dog" just like McCarthy...

Pick your poison Mike...

Most do not fear for US/NATO given nuclear deterrence.

Many also understand Ukraine's 10year civil war largely resolved, those many millions of former Ukrainians have achieved their LEGAL independence for Cause (human, property and citizenship rights violations).

More fighting thus pointless, as those many millions who are now Russian Federation citizens will never be Ukrainians, can't put toothpaste back in the tube.

Thus, many feel this conflict is fueling global instability and economic damage, for no real purpose/see above. while resulting in far more death, destruction and cost.

So, you agree that Putin should withdraw his troops.

When has Biden ever invoked sec. 212(f)?

Failed attempted humor again?

Unfortunately, it doesn't stop Mike Johnson and Trump being soft on the border.

Again, live along the border, come legally, talk to the people, see for yourself, talk to the BP agents in private and then we can debate the issue once you have tangible evidence and experience.

That would be a complete waste of time. Trump has already said, "blame me for ditching the bipartisan border bill". That's all the evidence I need.

No, Trump is the weakest president in history on the border. He blocked the bipartisan border bill.

Do tell us more about your private discussions with BP agents. We're intrigued.

Anyway, the GOP said no to border legislation because Donald Trump told them to. Because it's all about "me, me, me".

Likewise, the refusal to aid Ukraine has nothing to do with fiscal responsibility. It's MAGA people kissing the rear end of Trump, who's kissing the rear end of Putin.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Here's what the GOP said no to because, they say, it's worse than doing nothing (i.e., it would be good for the country, and therefore good for Biden politically):

"send $20 billion to immigration enforcement, providing money to hire thousands more officers to evaluate asylum claims, add hundreds of more Border Patrol agents and help stop the flow of fentanyl.

The bill would overhaul the asylum system with tougher standards and faster enforcement.

migrants would not be able to apply for asylum at all if illegal border crossings reach certain numbers. The policy is similar to one first used by President Donald Trump. Known as Title 42

The legislation would also have a pathway to residency for Afghans who worked alongside U.S. soldiers in America’s longest war."

exactly they had one of the most conservative bill on border security in decades, Trump said no so the speaker folded like a deck chair. what have republicans got to run on if they pass a string border bill, they dont want to solve it , they want a rabid base crowing all the same talking points

3 ( +4 / -1 )

exactly, Trump doesnt want Biden to take credit for it, its better to run on it for 2024 as theyve got nothing else
