This might be some light at the end of the tunnel

Good, let all the young people blame Biden for this.
ClippetyClop
Isn't it annoying when Biden does something that you approve of and you have to use young people as your outrage proxies?

Banning Trick Tok for good is one area where both partied agreed. 24B USD is a small sum to pay for the priviledge of not having your life spied uppon by the Chinese government.

It's getting dizzy in MAGA-world...
First the Mega-MAGA-flip on abortion...
Then the huge flip on Ukraine aid....
Now the backflip on Tick-Tock...
Then? "On August 6, Trump signed an executive order banning the platform in 45 days if it were not sold by ByteDance"...
Now? "Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Monday that President Joe Biden was "pushing" for a ban on TikTok and would be the one responsible if a ban were imposed, urging voters to take notice."
Flippity-floppity....the new Trump campaign slogan...

no evidence of china collecting any data. on the contrary, tiktok said it would host all data on us servers and have third party oversight of data distribution.
let’s get to the real issue. tiktok is crushing meta, (facebook, instagram), google (youtube) and x. their ad revenues have plummeted from tiktok sucking advertising dollars away.
follow the money and add some depth of thought. you’re being gaslighted.

I am surprised you are a supporter of this Chinese company.

Biden keeps screwing the Republicans by giving them what they're asking for. They're having a hard time responding to that.
Strangerland
In retaliation, Russia has banned Facebook.
Seigi
This is Trump's fault for sure. Young people should not vote for Trump.
Strangerland
Trump demanded it, the Republicans demanded it, Biden said 'ok, if that's what you really want'.
All on Trump.

free market… unless I need leverage
gl next season Biden, young voters already don’t like you and now you’re adding fuel to what was just a smoking pile before

Hate to break it to you lincoln, but if Biden signs off on this, he would be responsible. And flip-flop on abortion? Trump gave the power back to the states. Are you making this statement as someone who is pro-abortion but is upset because Trump didn't tell pro-lifers what they wanted to hear?
Attacking Trump for abortion in this way is as absurd as people who are angry at Biden because he isn't anti-Israel enough.
VoiceOfReason
This is Trump's fault for sure. Young people should not vote for Trump.
LMAO. This is exactly the kind of statement I would make if I was the CCP.

Maga don’t like government interfering in their lives or business, except when they do. Then they don’t again.
Hard to keep up.

Let's see if Tik Tok can summon their horde of zombies to vote in November.

Hate to break it to you but your guy was for the same thing in 2020, before he flipped and was against it in 2024...
Trump in 2020: "Life begins at conception - no ifs, ands or buts"....
Trump in 2024: "Abortion should be legal until a certain time, maybe 15 weeks"....
That's a Mega-MAGA-flip and fold...
The people attacking Trump are the evangelicals who now see he's for "murdering children" until the 15th week...
TaiwanIsNotChina
I think fortunately the same people who can't be bothered to learn about US foreign policy are going to find it tough to be outraged about a ban that hasn't taken effect yet. And Trump is going to find it a bit tough to go all in with his new China pals.
Open-minded
What if TikTok with the help of the CCP purchase a large portion of Twitter?
quercetum
It’s not flip flopping. The China this and that are just optics and politics. Why would any minority party not do so? When Trump is elected the dems will do the same.

Ban it. TikTok is the e-fentanyl. They should have done it long ago. The next one should be Zoom, but it is much more difficult as it owned and controlled by Chinese who had gained US citizenship. Democratic countries beware.
kurisupisu
Tik Tok is used by but not for kids as stick figures of a fornicating couple pop up here and there.
Stupidness and more stupid memes assault the user and drags them into a dumbed down world.
It should be banned as it is good for nothing!

The fear of good old US is evident..

This could be it for Biden. For millions of young Americans TikTok is part of their life, sometimes their livelihood. Combine that with the new Vietnam unravelling in Palestine, with US weapons, and the young Democrat vote will not exist in the next election. The press isn't covering the protest movement growing on US campuses adequately, for whatever reasons, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening..
I would now expect Trump to be the next US president, even if he is elected whilst he is in jail.
Politics 101. Take stuff away from people and they will not vote for you.
TaiwanIsNotChina
That would be pretty dumb of the young people, to put a pro-Israel Trump in the WH because of war crimes that don't affect their lives, but I wouldn't put it past them. I also think it will be hard to get enraged about a ban that might or might not happen.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Also nothing has been taken away from people of more importance than abortion by Trump.

Specifically targeting a company, by name, is wrong. The legislation should target unwanted behaviors and cover 500 companies, not just 1.
