Obama, ‘So his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity.’‘

Boggles the mind.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Film maker Michael Moore is already saying it was an "execution" and that Obama has betrayed the promises he made. But these were promises to the rubes of the far left "pacifist" crowd, now basically self-identifying - as rubes always do.

I suppose we can expect a documentary, and the obligatory Oscar from the Hollywood crowd.

Burying him according to Islamic traditions is an insult to Islam and it sends the wrong message. They should discourage terrorism, not showing respect to dead terrorists.

The U.S. has always been a victim of Pakistan supporting the Taliban under the table

Quite an interesting take on the subject. The only straight line to the Taliban from America would be through the core of the Earth. But for the Pakistanis, the Taliban are neighbors. But somehow U.S. interests supercede those of Pakistan, because bin Laden was once a house guest of the Taliban. So despite the fact that the Taliban brought some stability to one of Pakistan's borders, Pakistan has to bow to the U.S. desire for revenge not only on the criminal, but his one time host for years and much more effort including violating Pakistan's sovereignty and blowing up guerillas and innocents alike right on Pakistani soil and without permission.

And Americans still ponder the question, why do they hate us? And I have not even got into the dictators of Pakistan the U.S. supported.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

let me get this straight.

It took the CIA 10 years to find a guy hiding in a cave?

LOL! Been watching MSNBC have we. Yep, pretty much nails the liberal narrative.

888naff at 03:07 PM JST - 5th May. So when is america going to stop lying about what happened.

Who is actually lying? There is some possibility that the Pakistan was saving Bin Laden as their ace in the hole, because they knew that’s what the U.S. wanted. If the U.S. got him, they would be less willing to provide billions of dollars of aid and other support to the Pakistani government. The U.S. has always been a victim of Pakistan supporting the Taliban under the table and perhaps even hiding Bin Laden, simply because they are manipulating the U.S. in that part of the region.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

888naff - So when is america going to stop lying about what happened. the story keeps changing (substantially). nothing changes then, some of the same lying problems that gets the usa into problems in the first place and the follow up human rights issue of how the usa conducts itself post conflict problems that have then started as a result, guantanamo, etc seems these problems will continue for a long time

Blame the "media" for faulty reporting. The CIA and Seal teams do not talk about their missions. Using the so-called "un-named source" allows some media outlets to print half truths and out right lies until a better story comes along. That seems to be where the confusion is coming from.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's a good thing we didn't kill bin Laden while Mr. Bush was president because then all the Muslims would hate us.

I am simply referred to what is happening. Osama is being hailed as a hero and martyr, not by uneducated peasants, but the sunni clerics. And by Shiite leaders too, as witnessed by the Hamas leadership.

You can tell me that they don´t count all you want, but you really should take this up with your fellow muslims.

Why is the U.S. burying him at sea?

Indeed, I was certainly not happy with that as I am a fish eater.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So the U.S. decided to bury him at sea.

Why is the U.S. burying him at sea? Shouldn't that right be given to his family and friends?

BIN LADEN BURIED AT SEA AFTER BEING KILLED IN FIREFIGHT WITH U.S. FORCES

Headline reminds me of Transformers when they buried Megatron. Megatron came back.

I could write good stories like this all day, but I'm sure they would not get published. Bin Laden was the fearful boogeyman that wasn't fearful anymore. He, himself didn't give into a fight, but they were determined to kill him anyway. Think about this for a minute: "Is it easier to bring him to the Aircraft Carrier alive or haul him while he's dead ?" ......there's more to this news as we will find soon.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

its good but the only thing now is some people will be question if it was him. Dumped out to see will prevent his site from becoming a "shrine". doesn't matter that fool is gone! But talk about Polluting the Ocean.

www . japantoday . com / category / world / view / amid-arab-uprisings-bin-laden-no-longer-the-model

In the weeks leading up to bin Laden’s death, a survey by the Pew Research Center’s Global Attitudes Project found little support for the al-Qaida leader in the Muslim world.

Among the six predominantly Muslim nations surveyed, bin Laden received the highest level of support in the Palestinian territories—although even there only 34% said they believed he would do the right thing in world affairs.

Only 22% of those surveyed in Egypt, 13% in Jordan and 1% of Lebanese Muslims expressed confidence in bin Laden. In Pakistan, support for the al-Qaida leader fell from 52% in 2005 to just 18%.

No huge demonstrations in Pakistan - only a few small ones.

USARonin:

" Bin Laden was a leader of radical Islam, and at the same time he was an enemy of every other Muslim who won't follow his Wahabbi sect. "

That is nice to hear from you, but we are not hearing that from the islamic world. Huge demonstrations honoring OBL as an islamic martyr in Pakistan as we speak, and Hamas already has eulogized him too. And btw, Hamas is not Wahabi; they are not even Sunni. So dream on.

willi,

Maybe you could back up your earlier false allegations before adding more wild-eyed claims?

Thanks.

I am sunni and would have been killed outright by this monster. Just because I dont fold my arms in the same way they do in prayer. So theres your wild-eyed claim. I am here to represent the moderates that lack a backbone. Those idiots you see in the media are ignorant, illiterate sheep. Give them 5 dollars and they will sell you their daughters. So please stop with the nonsense about how hamas this hezbolla that. These people are not civilised and live in dark ages type life. A life rife with sectarian and tribal violence.

On another note, as sad as this sounds, this mission has several parrallels to the way US military got vengence after Pearl Harbor. From the secrecy all the way to the first hbomb. It took a little longer to find one man than it did in designing the atomic bomb. As someone quoted earlier, we have long memories and deep pockets. Indeed we do.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

FruitsBasketFan - This will not stop Al-Qaeda, unfortunately.....it would just make them angrier and want vengeance, now.

HAHAHAHA. The angry, vengeful, psychotic al Qaeda members will become more angry, more vengeful and more psychotic?

A bullet stopped bin Laden. More bullets, covert intellegence and strong-willed, well-trained soldiers will hunt down and stop any angrier, vengeance seeking bin Laden wanna-be.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No rejoicing is called for, but gratitude to the president and more so to the military personnel who carried this out. As MLK said "Justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."

The only disappointment was instant death. I wanted to see him hung twice.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WilliB, Bin Laden was a leader of radical Islam, and at the same time he was an enemy of every other Muslim who won't follow his Wahabbi sect.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Well many Muslims were killed in his name by having their heads chopped off, guaranteeing them a journey to Hell.

It sounds like he got a much better deal, with no insults.

USARonin:

" I think Bin Laden's bein' wrapped in a white shroud and havin' Muslim prayers said over his body was done to placate Muslims who aren't at war with everyone else. "

Yes, so they ackownledge him to be a muslim leader in the same breath that Obama waffles about how he was an enemy of islam.

Having it both ways, the white house way...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think Bin Laden's bein' wrapped in a white shroud and havin' Muslim prayers said over his body was done to placate Muslims who aren't at war with everyone else. -Doesn't bother me, and Bin Laden's past carin'.

The chairman on the committee on Homeland Security says he's seen the death photos and they're not too gruesome. He mentioned, for example, a bullet hole over one of the eyes and that folks should be able to handle it if they're every released.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

For those of you who think the burial at sea was to prevent his grave from becoming a shrine, it is Muslim law that graves be unmarked, there are no shirines to the dead in Islam. Not even to the Prophet.

thank you for clearing that up

To quote another: "I take great pleasure in the fact that the last person Osama Bin Laden saw on this earth was an American."

Very pithy, neh?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

RoninGaijin, sorry you didn't know what 'NBC' stands for as someone took a kind moment to explain it to you after your post and I'd taken off.

Millions upon millions of those who serve or have served in the military know what it means. Civilians who actually follow the war on terrorism and can reasonably speak on it know what it means.

It kind of surprised me when you said I used an 'obscure' acronym. Instead of using the high schooler's urban dictionary, you may want to use an adult acronym dictionary, many of which are online. I just now found 'NBC' readily available for you.

Peace out, dude. =)

Whether he's dead or alive nothing changes. I'm more interested in gas prices going down instead.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security said on national TV today that waterboardin' Sheik Kalid Mohammend provided the first lead to Bin Laden's courier.

Common sense tells ya waterboardin' can work. And if you have the time and resources to check out what comes out of it, so much the better for checkin' its validity.

"Wise words. Shame we are non the wiser for them"

King's words are easy to say, even easier to cut and paste.

I rejoice in the death of OBL, just as I would have rejoiced in the death of Hitler had I been alive then.

There is good in this world;and there is evil.

Yesterday the world did not get a little darker. It got brighter.

Many of my fellow Americans do not celebrate OBL's death per se.We celebrate a success. We came together some yesterday. The country has been pretty divided these last ten years. The man most responsible for that is no more.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

‎"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. ...Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."-Martin Luther King, Jr

Wise words. Shame we are non the wiser for them.

The actionable intel used to kill Osama bin Laden was obtained from enhanced interrogation methods at Guantanomo. Us Democrats will have to rethink our opposition to such measures.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Just one word: Good riddance.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This will not stop Al-Qaeda, unfortunately.....it would just make them angrier and want vengeance, now.

You mean that now they are going to hate us and want to kill us? Wow, I'd never would have guessed. I mean after all the bombings, and attempted attacks on the US and its allies... Guess we should be scared now that they're really mad.

Finally! This is a great day! Great job by the US military - especially the Navy Seals. Good call by Obama to go in for him instead of just obliterating the compound with a barrage of Tomahawk missiles. Make no mistake, Obama wanted Osama dead - and ordered a kill mission. I've been hearing that Osama was unarmed so he supposedly could have been taken alive. That would have been a fiasco given the latest flip flops on Guantanamo. It was best to have his trial, verdict, and execution ordered from the White House.

The US never gave up on getting Osama after nearly ten years and through two administrations. We got that SOB!

ramses68 at 05:43 AM JST - 3rd May. So does this mean U.S. troops will be coming home?

Many people have been too quick to count Al Qaida out. Al Qaida is in it for the long haul. Even if we don't hear from them now, it doesn't mean that they are not plotting and planning to use what they would see as a golden opportunity to their advantage. People are always underestimating Al Qaida's ability to adapt.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yes, because before now Al Qaeda was complacent and not bent on revenge.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This will not stop Al-Qaeda, unfortunately.....it would just make them angrier and want vengeance, now.

I think I'll take my cue from Mark Twain:

I do not wish any man dead, but I read some obituaries with great pleasure...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So does this mean U.S. troops will be coming home? ;) Wasn't that the reason for troop deployment in Afghanistan? Maybe all the cheering crowds are excited that their taxpayer dollars can now go to fixing potholes in their streets instead of paying for extended deployments? Of course maybe pigs fly now also.

It is early days yet to be accepting everything the White house has to say about this. I would normally be one of the fist to knock the conspiracy nutters but this just smells so bad that it almost invites conspiracy theories. Nobody other than the hit team has seen the body, and then they say it was dumped at sea. Was it and was he killed? Not sure that the US would want him seen to be taken alive, but on the other hand this man has a lot of information in his head that the US with enough time could extract. Saying that he is dead and the body has been thrown in the sea makes perfect sense if what you really want to do is put his friends minds at rest while taking your time over extracting all he knows. The fact is nobody is ever going to see him again whichever way it went. But let us not assume that we are being told the truth, that is not something that governments do

Grafton - Agree with the latter part of your comment. However, I have to disagree with the suspicion of it was truly him. Its like saying the moon landing was staged in a studio. These special ops have surely documented every aspect of the mission. Physical and virtual alike have been documented. I am sure they have this taped media while working to grasp this putrid excuse of a man. God bless the Seals and God bless America.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

bin ladin is the world's biggest boogieman. People are still suffering from the 9-11 aerial attacks he orchestrated. he is a scary man, that everyone says is dead. okay then, that's a good thing.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

'The official said his body was handled in the Islamic tradition" what about when i saw his people decapitate victims, record it and sent to tv station? is that islamic's way? if so...well islamic ways is "eyes to eyes teeth to teeth".. opps! i am not a muslim so i am not going to say do the same with his crops but why give a dam.n doing it correctly islamic way?

Civilit my civilised friend. Civility. He is dead. That is all that matters.

USNinJapan2 "Gotta love how in Japanese news stories OBL is always listed as the alleged terrorist, the alleged mastermind, etc." kind of like the psycho who shot congress woman giffords in front of hundreds of witnesses is always referred to as the alleged shooter in western media. it is standard practice. why make it a japanese thing?

In Japanese media OBL is systematically referred to as "ビン・ラディン容疑者" or "the suspect Bin Ladin". Can't speak for other non-English news media, but I can't recall the last time I saw OBL referred to as a suspect in the news. I think that would make the Japanese news media unique in that respect don't you?

SushiSake3 - President Bush, after being asked about where Osama Bin Laden was, stated:

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority. I am truly not that concerned about him."

The time frame of that statement is important. bin Laden hadn't been heard from for a long time and was not considered to hold a major leadership position - at that point in time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

grafton - Nobody other than the hit team has seen the body, and then they say it was dumped at sea.

The body was flown to an aircraft carrier where is was ID'd, prepared for burial and then slid into the sea.

bin Laden is dead. Who wants to take his place?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

we have DNA confirmation, that SOB is quite dead.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

to all the people who think this is fake, i thought so for a minute too, then rationality set in. there is no way bin laden would pass up the opportunity to make us look like fools by cranking out a video proving he is alive. i am 100% sure he won't be releasing anymore videos unless they are of the post-humous variety. to all the ones saying this means nothing due to the thousands waiting to step into his shoes, that could be, but how many of them are mega multi millionaires. on the other hand those who are saying "this is a message to all the other terrorists, it will make them think twice before messing with the usa" you are dreaming. the prospect of a bullet in the head is really not much of a deterrent to people who strap bombs to their bodies and detonate them intentionally..think about it... USARonin "Sushi, you're confusin' a largely visual TV empire with what you refer to as your 'newsreadin' manga.

If you don't know what 'NBC weapons' are, I'm not equipped to bring you up to speed."

actually nobody here knows what you mean, in fact even the urban dictionary has no idea what nbc weapons are, so in this case you would not be bringing us "up to speed" you would be letting us in on your own little personal acronym. if you don't have time to "bring us up to speed" please refrain from using obscure sayings nobody understands, thanks. #

Eddiejet "obama, please tell my mama, we finally got obama." if anyone believes this propoganda then they probably believe that a plane did fly in the pentagon on/11; i didn't see any evidence of jet wreckage, did you?" I guess you meant to put "osama" in there somewhere but on the whole it was an epic fail at humor. nice try though, and props for making obama and obama rhyme..no i did not see jet wreckage but i did see video of jet liners slamming into buildings on that day and ironically a 4th plane and all its passengers did go missing, but probably the bilderberg group shot down the plane and hid all the wreckage to cover up there master plan to do minor damage to a wall of the pentagon. you really are on to something there. keep up the good work. "guess the great leaders of the world needed to kick start the markets again. silver drops, the yen gets weak, obama is a hero." where do you get your financial news? i am a player in the fx market and watch the rates incessantly, the dollar has done nothing but lose ground against all major pairs since this news hit...weak yen? it was at 81.7 when the market opened on monday and now stands at 81.2. i guess the world's financial institutions didn't get the memo of the master plan you described.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Bin Ladin do have doubles of himself, so did they do a blood test or something before his body was put into the sea.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Burial at sea? Best thing for him. Bye Bye bad man.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It is early days yet to be accepting everything the White house has to say about this. The team that went in and got him (however they “got” him) deserve nothing but praise. The fact that Pakistan has yet again been shown to be totally corrupt and not to be trusted shouldn’t surprise anybody. And the fact that Americans are out on the street celebrating is just a little too disgusting.

WilliB "While this administration is coddling jihadists at home"

You couldn't defend this statement the first time you made it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Bin Laden has been pretty irrelevant for years now. Still, a symbolic victory.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

ArrestPaul:

" bin Laden OK'd the money used, gave the go-ahead to carry out the hijackings and allowed his organization to be used to complete the 9-11 attack and many other terrorist attacks "

Try to make that fly in the kind of civilian court that Eric Holder would have put him into, with eager trial lawyers lining up to defend him. No friggin way. If they really had brought him to trial in the US, they would have had to let him go.

The whole thing is a farce. While this administration is coddling jihadists at home, they are killing people in the third world without even asking questions.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

President Bush, after being asked about where Osama Bin Laden was, stated:

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority. I am truly not that concerned about him."

That pretty much sums up the entire conservative mentality if you ask me.

They had their priorities backwards, didn't get the job done, didn't accomplish the mission, and in the end completely failed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Dunno sushi, I think bin Laden turned against the US when troops were stationed in Saudi Arabia to toss Saddam out of Kuwait. Having infidel troops that close to Mecca seems to have pushed bin Laden over the edge.

I'm not sorry to see bin Laden gone but it won't solve the overall lunacy. You can't negotiate with religious fanatics.

The buried at sea bit is a snub to Muslims. I wonder if it was intentional.

As far as Gitmo is concerned; closing it has little to do with opposition from the GOP and more to do with political expediency. It's sad that so many Americans agree with torture and the suspension of civil rights to combat terror. In this respect bin Laden has succeded in diminishing the USA.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

At one stage the CIA and U.S. government supported OBL.

Than they turned against him and killed him.

Must be tough knowing whethr the U.S. is a friend or an enemy if you're bad and have a beard....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not really into the death penalty but in this case it's pretty hard to feel bad about Bin Laden being gone. If he had been taken alive, I wouldn't want to have been his defense lawyer! Pity that it couldn't have happened much earlier so the Iraq and Afghanistan situations could have been avoided. But kudos to the guys who finally got him. Hopefully it is all true.....the "buried at sea" bit worries me a bit.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Obama accomplishes what Bush could not because he was more interested in Iraqi oil than protecting the USA. Bush diverted troops away from the OBL compound in ToraBora to invade Iraq will OBL then able to escape.

Thank God we have a competent President now, not a buffoon like Bush.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@WilliB last time I checked dying in battle fighting for Islam was the best way for martyrdom in the fanatical Islamists eyes. Couldn't ask for a better way to go with that kind of ideology. He didn't evade the US for 10+ years because everyone hated him...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WilliB - And besides preaching and scheming, he did nothing. Never piloted an airplane into anything.

bin Laden OK'd the money used, gave the go-ahead to carry out the hijackings and allowed his organization to be used to complete the 9-11 attack and many other terrorist attacks. Bin Laden's hands were covered in the blood of thousands of innocent vitims. I'm not sure that even dumping his body into the sea could wash all the blood off.

There is one less bad guy in the world. Hurray!

when the Israeli army goes in with illegal incendiaries (white phosphorous)

Smithinjapan, WP is not an illegal incendiary, certain uses of it during a war can be illegal, but there are in fact legal uses of WP during a time of war.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"And besides preaching and scheming, he did nothing"............................

pure garbage

0 ( +0 / -0 )

In the grand scheme of things it IS only one man we're talking about, but also it's a man who accepted responsibility for a great crime against this country. He probably was resigned about his ultimate death at the hands of a U.S. operative back in 2001, but managed to thumb his nose at one of the world's superpowers for almost ten year afterwards. About all this really accomplishes for the public in general is a sense of justice for the thousands of civilian deaths he caused, and for potential emulators to realize the U.S. doesn't easily forget wrongs perpetrated against it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"And besides preaching and scheming, he did nothing"

Good luck pushing that one willi. Scheming to commit acts of terror would get you a life sentence in most places anyway.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

HonestDictator:

" I'm kind of disappointed they did not capture him ALIVE. Because according to fanatical Islamists they'll escelate him to "martyr" now because he died "fighting for Islam" and thus it gives him a one way ticket straight to allah's heaven. "

Of course. But what in the world would you have wanted to do with him alive? Put him on trial? Where? Guantanamo? The liberal media would go apesh1t. In a civil court, Eric Holder style? After a ridiculous islamist propaganda show, they would have had to let him go.

What exactly would you want to sentence him for?? Spreading jihadist propaganda? Duh.... by that yardstick, you would have to close thousands of prayer houses all over the country. You`d have to take on the Koran itself, for that matter.

And besides preaching and scheming, he did nothing. Never piloted an airplane into anything.

Good morning with that idea...

One evil man taken down. Who's next?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"But nobody seems to give a flying fig about that. Wierd culture or failed culture?"

I think just about everyone is prepared to make an exception for men of pure evil such as bin Laden.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Nice job on taking out the garbage.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Seems though that for a culture based on Christianity with its 10 Commandments, one of which is "thou shall not kill", this is a great failure. Whatever happened to "thou shall not kill"? There were no footnotes stating "except in the case ...". It seems very simple: thou shall not kill, no exceptions. The word of God no less. But nobody seems to give a flying fig about that. Wierd culture or failed culture?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

that picture was a photoshopped one. Already debunked.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

TCLH,

I think that pic has been shown to be a fake. I'm sure the photo's will be released in the next day or so as the conspiracy nuts are already starting. Between them and the Birthers that are on the cusp of a deep depression whilst still trying to work out how to best Deny that this happened on Mr Obama's watch.....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@ Foxie: I also watch "dead Bin Laden on youtube", the face looks young for him ,the nose also a bit shorter, hair is all black not grey or white, only the mouth looks the same....I don't know, maybe OBL was in better health because of better living conditions when compared with old video(2007) of a tired ,grey beard old man. In order to save me from headache, I better believe in what president Obama said.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I really really wish they'd captured him alive so he wouldn't get the glorified Islamic death.

I'm not so sure a man of the dry Saudi desert gets his dead carcass tossed into the wet sea as a glorified Arabic or Islamic death. I like the irony though.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The NAVY SEALS were ordered to kill Osama bin Laden, not to capture him alive.

I'm kind of disappointed they did not capture him ALIVE. Because according to fanatical Islamists they'll escelate him to "martyr" now because he died "fighting for Islam" and thus it gives him a one way ticket straight to allah's heaven. There are many more people that liked this nutjob and will try to take his place or keep carrying out the jihadist dream of dying for Islam. Like I said, I really really wish they'd captured him alive so he wouldn't get the glorified Islamic death.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Well, I don't know...looking at the picture of the dead bin Laden, I found that the shape of the eyebrows don't seem to be a match. I doubt that men change that shape. The dead one has very thick and short eyebrows but on all the other pictures of bin Laden they are much thinner and extend a lot more.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is great news. Well it stop all terrorist attacks, of course not and nobody is making any such claims. It's worthwhile for the US to take a moment to breath a sigh of relief, pat themselves on the back and then move on. If it were up to me I would've left the corpse on the side of the road for the vultures... but kudos to the US to respect rules of the Islamic culture.

Hooray world peace!

Doubters will be silenced in the coming days. Rather elegant to quickly bury the body at sea - no one can gather, rally or build memorials. A bit of closure for some folks but terminating one person obviously does not significantly alter a true network. OBL has likely had little direct involvement with any plans for years. Interesting that though he refrained from phone and internet use, they got to him via a courier - everyone has to communicate, always a weak link.

U.S. personnel identified him by facial recognition

I guess i am not the only one who thinks something is fishy in this story. I am not an American but i would feel relieved if any of these lunatics disappear from the face of earth since they are not only a threat for the U.S. but also a threat for humanity. However, there are too many convenient things in this story...

Btw, its a perfect excuse for the U.S. army to leave from Afghanistan, isn't it?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Anyone daft enough to think that this will change anything at all, especially in US foreign policy? The search for a new bogeyman begins.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It is news. News for the day. You know now I know it is not over? All the people dancing around in New York and Washington reminded me most of all of the dancing radicals celebrating 9/11 and victory in Iraq, and this or that "victory" someplace. There will just be more tit and more tat. Which certainly means that nothing has changed. Islamic extremism preceded him, and I have no doubt that it will continue.

Celebration? OK. But I don't see much that has changed. The death of one man is a milestone? Symbolic I guess. What is the practical significance?

This makes very little difference to my everyday life. That it matters so much to so many people surprises me. What are people feeling? A decade and thousands of deaths were leading up to this moment?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

By the way, you can bet that the far right will try to find a way to make this work against Obama. It is only to be expected.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Tonight, Japanese cable TV showed a picture of the head, but partially obscrured I guess to hide the ugly parts. It did look like his mouth. So I guess the photos are out there.

This sad excuse for a human being didn't deserve the honor of being buried at sea.

Agreed, But the Seal Team that came from the Sea to render his demise are honored now by throwing his worthless carcass into the ocean as a reminder to his spirit as to where that bullet to his skull came from. U.S Navy.

I was told Al Qaeda had NOTHING to do with Iraq and Saddam. Hmmmm....

What you were told is correct. Whatever you think now is a result of your intelligence, or lack thereof. Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi (the name is a bit of a giveaway regarding his birthplace, no?) didn't begin activities in Iraq until a year after the US invasion. Hussein never allowed al Qaeda activities in territories he controlled: the terrorist group was at odds with his very existence.

Good luck with that line, anyway. Tin hatters are clearly in a tizzy about this.

The conspiracies are easily debunked. OBL traveled and lived with an extended family. His wives and a few of his sons have been arrested.

"obama, please tell my mama, we finally got obama." if anyone believes this propoganda then they probably believe that a plane did fly in the pentagon on/11; i didn't see any evidence of jet wreckage, did you?

i guess the great leaders of the world needed to kick start the markets again. silver drops, the yen gets weak, obama is a hero.

where's the body. oh right, we buried him at sea.

"oh mama, please tell obama, quit brigging about obama. makes him look like a llama."

God blessl america? forget it, long live JAPAN>

Because there is not any picture of OBL 's corpse , I think that if this is all true president Obama is a g.e.n.i.u.s . Perhaps he will release these pictures of evidence when the opposition demand them so much...but near election time though, just to remind people of who is the best president here!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

There's never been a major news event that didn't include a conspiracy theory. Thinking that this one will "slip by" is just not gonna happen...heh.

A lot of people worked hard from a lot of countries to try to find this guy. He planned or inspired the murder of thousands of innocent people around the globe. He cannot hurt anyone anymore, and that's the important thing.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

VERY interesting. Al Qaeda big shot captured four years ago - about the time US interrogators fingered OBL's courier.

Times online) has this report - - -

"The al-Qaeda leader who is thought to have devised the plan for the July 7 suicide bombings in London and an array of terrorist plots against Britain has been captured by the Americans. Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, a former major in Saddam Hussein’s army, was apprehended as he tried to enter Iraq from Iran and was transferred this week to the “high-value detainee programme” at Guantanamo Bay."

I was told Al Qaeda had NOTHING to do with Iraq and Saddam. Hmmmm....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

--sorry, i just don't buy it. how convenient that his bosy was "buried"(more like tossed overboard for the crabs)at sea. no body, no evidence. i don't believe what my government says. it's big news, the markets explode, obama rises in the polls.

ten years we finally catch up to him in a mansion? pakistan harboring him all this time? right, this is a crock.

see the movie "hunting party" with richard gere. true story about how messed up these great leaders of the world are. ten years, i am embarrassed

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Worry not, we would have taken plenty of pictures and DNA samples before we fed the fish.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

At least Bush kept him alive. This is perfect timing for Obama isn't it?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A man was killed deliberately by a head shot. Without trial, without charge. A state is celebrating the news, the president with a legal education is proud of the fact and announces it happily. Now my legal knowledge may be incorrect but is that not premeditated murder? Or should I really believe this news?

I bet it will not be verifiable by an independent body autopsy, whether it is at all Osama Bin Laden, and how and when he died. It will be called Top Secret as always with the United States.

The question is why this message came now? Could it be due to the financial difficulties of the U.S. government? Did they need a success message? What distraction is it this time?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

USN,

"Gotta love how in Japanese news stories OBL is always listed as the alleged terrorist, the alleged mastermind, etc."

That's they way people who have yet to be given a trial are usually treated by the press. Binny may be an emotive issue but I don't see why it should be any different. Initially he denied any involvement.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Islamic tradition calls for burial within 24 hours of death. Though the US claims that no country could be found within that timeframe to accept his body as the reason for burial at sea, I think that it was more a very convenient excuse to avoid creating a martyr's shrine."

@Liebermann I totally agree. Seems like the best explanation to really sum it all up. I'm totally thrilled that they got this guy and good riddance to him too. But burying him (I'm thinking more like they probably tossed him overboard) was most definitely the most appropriate thing to do, otherwise the fanatics would probably erect a shrine in his memorial, no body, no shrine. The man wanted to die like a Martyr and he got his wish...good.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Here is hoping that Bin Laden's being brought to justice brings some solace to the many victims of the acts of terror he was behind.

Yong,

"He needed to be captured, brought to justice and tried for crimes against humanity, against Islam, against reason."

Simply impossible. Defence lawyers would have had a field day and any sort of trial would have been the single-most successful propaganda moment for what's left of al-Qaida.

The frontman is dead, and his remains been discretely disposed of. A win-win for humanity.

I'm not so naïve as to think cutting the head from the serpent will kill it, but it will sure go a long way. Talk about Mission Accomplished!!

Strange they haven't released a phot of his corpse, mind you. They did for Saddam's sons....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Well, if the US hadn't suddenly abandoned Afganastan after the Russian invasion and actually carried out its promised aid, Bin Laden would not have been created. Remember Reagans "Freedom Fighters"? Yeah, the US gave them arms and promises of a better tomorrow after the war ended. Then it completely lost interest in the place after Russia withdrew. And VOILA! Bin Laden (who was one of Reagan's original "Freedom Fighters"). 9/11 was just "blowback" from a botched Afganistan policy. And now look. You're back!!! More American's dying. Pitty.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The head shot was a nice touch.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can not, will not celebrate the death of another human being. He needed to be captured, brought to justice and tried for crimes against humanity, against Islam, against reason. Psychologically, sure. a 'chapter closed' but, the ideology is very much alive because the fundamentals of what he raged against, the reasons for the terror he unleashed, have not changed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"I'm not happy he died, I'm happy he's been stopped."

I feel happy this individual has been killed, and have no qualms about feeling that way. And a bullet to the head was more humane than he deserved.

Then again, a wise move. I'm sure the orders were shoot to kill. The thought of any kind of tribunal, and the media frenzy that would have inevitably followed, would have been a PR disaster for the Americans.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The body was buried at sea so there was no "shrine" to visit, also keeping with the Muslim tradition of a 24 hour burial. Last time I checked over 1000 Americans were never recovered from 9/11 and the ones that were their family received little bits of them...a thumb here, piece of intestine there...it was just sick. So I think highly of them for not desecrating his body. It seems we are breaking down into a World of the civilized verse the uncivilized. The uncivilized hate the civilized more than ever before. If the civilized do not stick together well all be hauling water for bath time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I shouldn't be happy, but I am. The beast is gone and no shrine for his followers to visit (unless they're good divers). Probably, it doesn't change too much, but it is a kind of closure. BTW, I'm not happy he died, I'm happy he's been stopped.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Islamic tradition calls for burial within 24 hours of death. Though the US claims that no country could be found within that timeframe to accept his body as the reason for burial at sea, I think that it was more a very convenient excuse to avoid creating a martyr's shrine.

So now he's gone without a trace. It was wise not to bring his body back to the US and parade it around. Perhaps we can all get back to more serious and productive business now.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

wanderlust, the CIA did not build up OBL as a hero although we did support other mujahadeen.

OBL didn't want any CIA support and didn't take it. He used his own wealth to buy and bring in weapons against the Soviets.

Saudi Arabia took away OBL's citizenship and sent a team to kill him in the Sudan. They almost did it, and that's where it's rumored his kidney problems began.

Saddam hated OBL and the hatred was returned. One was a secular Muslim and the other a 'religious' one.

Wow.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The CIA built OBL up as a hero when he was against the Russians in Afghanistan, but then they lost his loyalty when they went in to Saudi Arabia, his own country, to fight Saddam Hussein. Eventually, that same CIA, with ST6 took him down. Let that be a lesson to anyone who is befriended by the CIA...

And what is your point, exactly?

USARonin: "(Side note: When Islamofascists kill many of their own, the world is quiet. When a Jew kills one Arab or Palestinian, the world is outraged. Go figure.)"

Oh, BS! The wording of your comment alone makes it irrelevant due to the bias in it. Islamic radicals DO kill other Muslims, but those Muslims may not be radicals themselves, and the world does indeed raise a stink. In fact, a lot of people use that as justification for 'war on terror' and what not. And yes, when the Israeli army goes in with illegal incendiaries (white phosphorous) or kills half the civilians on an aid ship people get mad -- as they should!

I do agree that little or no will change from this, save that it might make the ignorant sit easy for a bit while the people who feel Osama has finally been martyred will seek revenge. This doesn't sit well with the Taliban just announcing their resumption of military activity.

Still think the people partying are sick, though.

BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump demands Osama Bin Laden's death certificate.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If Republicans were still in power, Halley's comet would probably arrive sooner than OBL was brought to justice.

President Obama called Former President Bush before making his announcement to the Nation. I would venture to say it was a good an intimate conversation between the two. I find it sad that on this day when two men though different in political party but united in a common cause to defeat Al Queda no matter how long or whatever it takes some would take the low road and try to score partisan claptrap points.

Today is a great day for all AMERICANS regardless of who you voted for or support. Thank you President Obama for staying the course set out by President Bush and finally getting this bastard the justice he so richly deserved.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

USARonin - "This war will continue long after anyone remembers you and I once existed."

What war? The 'GWOT'?

And what are 'NBC weapons'? Angry newsreaders, perhaps?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sushi, I didn't push for war, but I supported my government's decision once they went forward with it.

And you're wrong, Sushi. 'This war' began well before 2000 and 1.

This war will continue long after anyone remembers you and I once existed. Or have you a plan to make disappear all the NBC weapons on the planet and the worser ones to come? Have you a plan to change the natures of those born psychopathic. Ain't gonna happen... Wouldn't be prudent to even consider you or anyone else can achieve this.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

USARonin - "I'm glad Bin Laden was killed. I hope that Egyptian doctor was standin' next to him. No matter. The war goes on."

Hmmm..it may not have been that way if people like you hadn't barnstormed for war in the early days.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sushi, some folks are gettin' some face time on TV.

Everyone I know is sittin' at home, takin' it in, and settin' their alarm clocks for another day at work in mornin'.

If you think what's been goin' on year after year has been about Bin Laden - all those lives and billions of dollars you keep talkin' about - then you don't know what all of this has - and will continue to be - about.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

GDubya, no, I'm sayin' that Bin Laden's death in April 2011 changes nothin' concernin' the war and terror and how it will continue.

Of course, Allied and enemy targets and strategies will evolve/devolve, but this 'War on Terror' was never just about Bin Laden. Whether we bagged him or not, the war goes on. Now that's he's bagged... the war goes on.

I'm glad Bin Laden was killed. I hope that Egyptian doctor was standin' next to him. No matter. The war goes on. It will continue long after you and I have assumed room temperature. May the good guys - that's the Allies - significantly win much more than they lose. Much, much more.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Seems my question has been answered:-

According to the BBC "The US official said that intelligence had been tracking a "trusted courier" of Bin Laden for many years. The courier's identity was discovered four years ago, his area of operation two years ago and then, last August, his residence in Abbottabad was found, triggering the start of the mission.

Another senior US official said that no intelligence had been shared with any country, including Pakistan, ahead of the raid."

lostrune2: A sea burial? Really? Where did you get that little gem from?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's amazing - Americans celebrate - dancing in the streets even - the death of a man for which the hunt to get him burned through billions of dollars, cost thousands of lives, dragged America's reputation through the dust, and who will quickly if not already be replaced by someone who holds similar extremist views.

There's got to be something deeper.

Are Americans celebrating because for the first time since former president Bush started making misstep after misstep in the hunt for OBL and then said that finding him wasn't important, they have finally got a punch in edgeways?

If Republicans were still in power, Halley's comet would probably arrive sooner than OBL was brought to justice.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A job well done.

And a fine start to the week :)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Apparently, Bin Laden's body was already been given a sea burial, within accordance of Islamic rituals, apparently to prevent anyone from recovering it.

Let the conspiracy theories begin!!!

(Is it really him?) (How did he really die?) (Are the documents showing proof forged?)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No reasonable person believed before, or believes now, that Bin Laden's death changes anything.

USRonin,

So are you saying the US shudnt have gone into Afghanistan? I guess by your logic there werent many reasonable people in the Whitehouse on 9/11...........

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good news. I wonder if the $25m reward was the key or just pure intelligence work?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Whatever the case, good job on the USN Seals!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That's right, Toddo. Business as usual will continue with all the ups and downs that come with it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think the icing on the cake here is the fact that he was killed in a shoot out with US soldiers, he wasn't killed in a air/drone strike or by an armored vehicle, no he was killed by a soldier with an assault rifle.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So glad the headline is all in caps. Might have missed otherwise! Hum.

And I will thank the CIA paramilities about as much as I would thank Saddam Hussein for killing one of his own lieutents. I may have mixed feelings, but only slightly. Just glad the CIA stopped murdering civilians long enough to go after a legit target.

To Navy Seal Team Six I might say congratulations once my doubts are silenced. But since I read his remains are being treated correctly according to Islamic tradition, I am thinking the evidence will be quickly buried if there is any.

And not one peep about Pakistan's soveriegnty. Were they even consulted?

Some don't want to credit Obama? Strange that since Bush said he didn't care and thus never got him.

Osama dead does not matter? Well, then I guess the gates of death row should all be opened? Its all bygones!

And I should say his death will matter a great deal to those who say he was falsely accused. It would have been better if we could have captured him alive to rot in prison. To some, Osama just became a matyr. Could mean a lot of trouble. Stay tuned.

I personally won't miss him. But I am not going to sing and dance in the streets like New Yorkers and residents of the Gaza Strip when people die. I might be more inclined to mourn any Seals that died.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sad to say but the victory will be short lived, there are hundreds of thousands of fanatic muslims out there waiting to step right into Binladens shoes and cary on the endless jihad......

WilliB: "...Secondly, no matter how much the current administration will try to milk this for electioneering purposes ("Look what we did!!"), it makes zero difference for the big picture"

Oh, please! If it were GWB who got credit for doing this, after he failed umpteen times, you'd be saying things like, "See! Told you so!" or singing his praises for the war on terror.

I do agree with you that it should be verified beyond the shadow of a doubt (not just the President's words), but I do recall quite a few on here during the last administration taking even the slightest rumours he was killed and making a big deal of it then.

Anyway, it's absolutely sickening that people are going out in the streets and cheering over a man's murder. Osama was absolute scum, and deserves his own special place if hell (if there is one), but the people in the picture on the front of this paper prove they are no better than those that dance around the streets in some Anti-Western ME nation (for example) when a terrorist succeeds in hitting a Western target. We're all just animals.

zurchromium, Bin Laden found out from President Obama that if you're not with him, you're against him. I like this cowboy of yours. I heard he upped the number of troops goin' overseas in *his war and the number of deployments they're gonna do.

*Hey, if President Obama is 'the one' who took out Bin Laden, then it also figures he owns everything else he's doin' (now for over two years).

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What a load of rubbish this all is. Bin Laden has always been the Emmanuel Goldstein figure from '1984'; a necessary focus of hate to detract from the real facts. His death means nothing. The US will soon find another person to fill the same role, no doubt a Muslim. Without the bogeyman of Bin Laden, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan would have been more difficult to sell. The ridiculously misplaced 'patriotism' of the morons in front of the White House is just astounding to anyone with a brain.

The man that attacked the US while Bush was too busy clearing weeds from his ranch, the man that Bush said he wanted dead or alive but failed to do anything about it, the man that bush used by lying about him to illegally invade Iraq, is now dead because of President Obama. Once again the democrats have to clean up the failures of the republican administrations.

Republicans screw up and let the country be attacked in this case, the demos come in later and fix the mess. Thats the story of the last 30 years in the US starting with Ronny Reagan.

-In the big picture of things, this doesnt change much. The US would be wise to not go overboard with patting themselves on the back.

-On TV a lot of Americans being interviewed on the streets are thanking God for helping to bring this about.........how ironic.

williB - "Thousands new Osamas are being indoctrinated right under your noses, and your government even supports that. Talk about missing the point."

You're saying the U.S. govt. supports indoctrination of 'new Osamas'?

Hello? Are you American?

Ironically, you're the one who missed the point.

Sushi, now aren't you glad that of the many pre-election promises that Obama quickly broke, the promise to close Guantanamo 'in one hundred days' was among them?

presto:

" Contrary to what willB will have us believe, the extermination of one great evil, the personification of satan itself, will send a clear message to other satans, waiting to replace bin laden: we will get you, like we did BL, and likely it won't take 10 years. "

No we won´t. While the US goes on wild goose chases abroad, radical mosques are sprouting like mushrooms all over the country back home. Thousands new Osamas are being indoctrinated right under your noses, and your government even supports that.

Talk about missing the point.

Want to see who if anybody gets the 25 mio and how much of an assist was Wikileaks to the US intelligence.

The 10th Anniversary of 9/11 this coming September would not be a completely somber one.

Great news, indeed! The US military - getting things done! Good job people! I am very proud of you!

WilliB - This guy was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people (not just Americans) and you still wonder whether it was worth it to spend a lot of time and money to go after him? A lot of the friends and relatives of the victims of 9/11 and the attacks that came before and after think it was worth it, and the U.S. owed it to them to bring the bearded one to justice.

When did the 'War on Terrorism' become 'The War on Bin Laden'? I musta missed those JT Olympics headlines.

I hope that Egyptian doctor got bagged. If not, he probably moves up to Number One on the Allied hit list.

(Lemme know if someone in OBL's circle collects on the $25 million-dollar reward money. Was that the correct amount?)

@NetNinja - one dead terrorist is not going to help the democrats for 2012. I put my money on a republican president

Killing Bin Laden would not change Al-Qaeda much now that it's so fragmented and independent from each other. (And it's definitely him - the US special ops brought the body with them, and a President of the US wouldn't announce it himself unless the US is 100% sure.)

However, this brings joy to all of America. Bin Laden is a figurehead; someone the US vowed to go after for 9/11; an example that nobody could attack America like that and ever get away with it. It's a huge symbolic victory.

It's past midnight in America, and the spontaneous celebrations are still growing, in front of the White House, at Ground Zero in NYC, even among rival sports fans in the baseball stadium between heated rivals Phillies vs Mets. It's been awhile since all of the US could celebrate on a good news.

Neither of them did jack. All credit goes to where it belongs, the CIA and intelligence community that found him and the special forces unit that carried out the attack.

After they dropped the ball back in 1999-2001. Go easy on the back slapping, it was poor communication and arrogance on the US intelligence community's side that let OBL have such a successful attack on 9/11. Glad he's dead but America is no winner. 10,000 Vs 1 and countless thousands more innocents.

No more reason to be in Afghanistan anymore. (If you'll recall, bin Laden's the reason we went in there in the first place.) I don't really care about the Taliban being in control of the Afghan government. If the sheep, er, Afghanis are too stupid to prevent the Taliban from taking back power, then they deserve everything they get from the Taliban. If they hold a democratic election and the Taliban wins, what can we in the U.S. do? It was the Afghanis' choice.

Kudos to the troops for taking down this thorn in the side of the country.

This successful op means a great boost to the pride and determination of US intelligence, the military, the White House and the people of the United States. Let the naysayers suffocate in their idiocy.

NetNinja:

" Barack Obama, on HIS watch as President, got the job done. Republicans are crying right now. "

Yes, that is the silly propaganda spin that we are going to hear from the democrats now for the next year, ad nauseam. Thanks for the preview.

All the cheering that we know have to endure is so naive.

WilliB -- could not diagree more. In fact, all true, peace-loving members of all religions and societies should be cheering, since he is no longer around to ferment religious hatred and bigotry, based on his own/incorrect use of the koran. Way to go U.S.

Now 'maybe' we know what Raymond Davis was doing when he got followed by those two on motorcycles...

Give the Death Certificate to Donald Chump!! We got him!!! I'm so happy!! I shouldn't be but I am. That was a monster that needed to be put down. No trials, drawn out tribunals....flat out Justice. Barack Obama, on HIS watch as President, got the job done. Republicans are crying right now.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Would have been better to catch him and bring him to justice but, well, the man who was behind so much terror is gone. Keep safe everyone.

Its Christmas in May! An atta boy to US Special Ops and the CIA...

How long will it be until conspiracy theorists start claiming bin Laden's death was staged and/or timed to coincide with some Obama administration agenda?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Heh, so the Community Organizer from Chicago accomplished in 2 years what Bush and his cronies couldn't do in 8.

No, the CIA, reviled by most of Obama's foreign fanboys, did the job.

Heh, so the Community Organizer from Chicago accomplished in 2 years what Bush and his cronies couldn't do in 8.

Neither of them did jack. All credit goes to where it belongs, the CIA and intelligence community that found him and the special forces unit that carried out the attack. I don't care who was sitting in what chair when it happened as long as it happened.

WilliB - "Secondly, no matter how much the current administration will try to milk this for electioneering purposes ("Look what we did!!"), it makes zero difference for the bigger picture."

I agree.

bentheredonthat - "2 wars, tens of thousands of civilian and military deaths, hundreds of billions of dollars just for one guy. was it worth it?"

No, but good job U.S. military.

Head shot.

suh-weet.

Secondly, no matter how much the current administration will try to milk this for electioneering purposes ("Look what we did!!"), it makes zero difference for the bigger picture.

True statement. Bush 41 won the Gulf War, and lost to Clinton. In 2 weeks this will be just a memory to the electorate. However, if we are paying $4-$5/gallon for gas, that will remain in people's mind longer. Especially if next winter, home heating fuel costs go up in New England (early primary states) and by summer 2012, gas is back high again.

But overall, I am glad the US was able to do so, and I am glad that Obama made the call when he had the information, not like Clinton did back in the 90's when he had a chance to get Osama but didn't go for it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I agree with WilliB, just killing off Osama bin laden will make us happy now, but in the long run, how many nut cases are naming their sons, little babies after Osama bin laden? Many, many and they will grow up, with hate, anger and thirst for revenge because of the incorrect teachings the taliban etc..brain wash their believers.

Lhomequiment:

" This time it's real. "

And so? Does it mean anything? Zilch, of course. An enormous waste of effort to kill one single guy, why millions of replacements are indoctrinated as we speak.

All the cheering that we know have to endure is so naive.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Does Donald Trump want to see a copy of the death certificate???

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This time it's real. For DNA testing they have used samples from Bin Laden's dead sister. It seems like they have halted the announcement for a few days (a week?) until the results of DNA tests were confirmed.

2 wars, tens of thousands of civilian and military deaths, hundreds of billions of dollars just for one guy. was it worth it?

Osama's probably in his cave right now watching CNN on his iPad 3 laughing at how stupid we are..

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Firstly, lets see if the story is true. Northern Pakistan is full of bearded jihadists.

Secondly, no matter how much the current administration will try to milk this for electioneering purposes ("Look what we did!!"), it makes zero difference for the bigger picture.

The jihad against the West goes on. The death of one particular jihadist leader means absolutely nothing.

As welcome as this news obviously is, al-Qaida's reaction to this will be one of two things. Either they will now thrash about aimlessly like a headless chicken or they may put some previously agreed plan into action.

I read somewhere just a few days ago that al-Qaida had smuggled a nuclear device into Europe somewhere that was to be detonated should bin Laden be killed. This intel may be pure fabrication but it came from a high ranking al-Qaida operative currently being held at Guantanamo Bay.

Awesome! Best news in a while!!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

After nearly ten damn years he's finally dead. Not from cancer, disease, kidney failure, or by some stupid gesture of martyrdom that would have bolstered his legions of filth, but by the long arm of the U.S. armed forces. Damn fine job guys.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Whoa... can't wait to hear the spin on this from around the world. On top of the media circus of the royal wedding, wow!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Well done, U.S. Special Forces! Brilliant work. The world is celebrating. Pictures coming in now of pandemonium all across the States - millions of people dancing on the streets in pure joy! After all the awful news the world has had for so long, this is the best news in many, many years! If there is a hell - this maggot will be suffering for eternity.

So long Bin Laden!! You will definitely not be missed!! Poetic Justice indeed!!
