Bin Laden is determined to remain the most influential figure in modern Islam.

He is talking on the name of Al-Qaida not on the name of Islam, Tim.

Any close male relative can have a guaranteed job making simple sound recordings.

Al Quida is the name of the group that he is using to try and export islam and islam ideologies.

Terrorism has little to do with Islam and Islamic ideologies. Terrorism is terrorism - the use of terror to bully and otherwise force others to conform to your demands, and nothing at all to do with religion or faith.

France needs to build a mosque in central Paris as quickly as possible or something, and then the threats from Al Qaeda will stop.

TimRussert- is that a joke? or are you seriously saying France should build a mosque in central Paris?

Terrorism has little to do with Islam and Islamic ideologies

At this point the majority in France, the UK, America, Germany, Australia, Spain, Bali, Russia, Phillipines, Thailand, Nigeria etc are far more likely to say that Islam has little to do with religion.

Mosques all over the place do not seem to stop anything.

By standing up and speaking out in the name of democracy, France has made itself a target.

“If you deemed it your right to ban (Muslim) women from wearing the hijab, then should not it be our right to expel your invading men by striking their necks?” bin Laden said.

Interesting phrasing. I do believe I have come across it in a religious text. Wasn't the Bible. Wasn't the Upanishads. The Lotus Sutra? No, no. it wasn't there either.

Naturally France is a target, the same as the other powers that support the Afghan government, but that is not the direct cause here.

France feels she needs to make a strong stand regarding headwear, and general religious expression in public. She understands that this will make her a target, but she chooses to go ahead anyway.

Is this freak still alive? Or is it a clone making the wise statements sounding like quotes from the new edition of the koran by bin laden the first?

“If you deemed it your right to ban (Muslim) women from wearing the hijab, then should not it be our right to expel your invading men by striking their necks?” bin Laden said.

France isn't about to let their nation and culture be converted by a religion plus radical fringes with beliefs and habits so radically different from its own. When westerners migrate to islamic countries they'll have to conform to local standards, culture. The reverse is also true. If muslim women cannot do that, if they cannot understand/carry out what the ancient adage states: 'when in Rome do as the Romans do' they need to stay at home. If these women feel they need to obey the rules dictated by their imams, the koran, this is a sign from an intolerant religion. The intolerance personified by bin.

Bin is on very thin ice here, but being a terrorist, or terrorist clone, the threats are real and we need to be vigilant. Bin will go down in history, perhaps even get a place in the guinness book of records, as the ogre that destroyed so much, yet built so little. Poor bin. He tried so hard.

"a new audio tape"

There's no such thing as a new audio tape. The stores don't sell them anymore. Pretty soon I'm going to be forced to buy a digital recorder.

Cripes, another audio tape from Binny? When is he going to make a video?

France should let the Muslims build a mosque next to -- or, better yet, on the site of -- the Eiffel Tower. That'll show everyone who's the boss.

most importantly your withdrawal from the ill-fated Bush war in Afghanistan

Looks like Binny didn't get the word that Mr. Bush is no longer U.S. president. The Afghanistan war is now owned by Barack Hussein Obama, who called it "the correct war."

presto345: France isn't about to let their nation and culture be converted by a religion plus radical fringes with beliefs and habits so radically different from its own.

Then expect to be attacked for it. And remember....if the attacks happen then they are justified or else they wouldn't have happened in the first place.

Bin Laden is so hypocritical. Typical of his kind.

Bin Laden's threat has worked.

France decided today they will bow to Al Qaeda and militant transnational Mohammedanism and withdraw from Afghanistan.

CS monitor is reporting

France’s announcement came a day after the release of a tape with a message believed to be from Osama Bin Laden, who threatened to attack French citizens because of their presence in Afghanistan and treatment of Muslims. French officials were quick to insist that there is “absolutely no link” between the threat and their decision to begin withdrawing troops in 2011.

France, the UK, America, Germany, Australia, Spain, Bali, Russia, Phillipines, Thailand, Nigeria etc

In how many of these countries have u been? And with how many people from those countries did u talk with?

The majority of the Muslims living in France are from French former colonies. They were living in their land and never been asked to be colonized or "civilized". Then when France gave its independence to those countries they had to withdraw and take with them the locals who cooperated with the colons and oppressing the locals. That was for the first wave. Then during the 60's and later when France was rebuilding itself and was good economically they needed cheap workers then they turn to their former colonies and brought a lot of them to France. Now that there is the crisis and the government is unable to solve the problem it has to use the old "blame the immigrant" to satisfy the people. And these days attacks against Islam sell then they made those laws against veils and burka(knowing that less than a 1000 people are concerned). And Bin Laden is using now that against France to get some new recruits because these laws indirectly targeted the moderate Muslims. Many people here talk about building mosques in Paris and Islam in France without knowing the history or anything else.I'm from a former(?) French colony so i know what i'm talking about.Islam != Bin Laden.
