Former President Donald Trump had been accused by critics of having a low regard for human rights in his support for Saudi leaders.

Low regard for human rights? No regard.

Trump's economy, like those of his predecessors needed big defense to sell weapons to ultra-authoritarian states like Saudi Arabia to help grow it.

Trump was also a tool of big oil, a consummate supporter of the fossil economy and states like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, among others. It will be interesting to see whether information re Jared's dealings with the Saudi 'royal' family and the money he might have got from them will become public knowledge.

If there was ever a good reason for a reactive UN peacekeeping force, Yemen is it. And by 'reactive' I mean they should be allowed to take the fight to the enemy, not stand around in blue helmets and get shot at. Obviously, as a Canadian, I stand alone with that opinion. At least from our spineless political leaders.

Yemen is a disaster. Far too many people to count are starving and dying. Add COVID into the picture, and it's worse than disaster. Add the UN Security Council into picture and you might as well bury your head in the Yemeni sands, with the rest of the slaughtered.

Saudi Arabia is the most backward country in the world and have gotten away because of the greed of the GOP, whether it’s the oil investments of the Bush clan or plain bribery for donald!!!

Hold them accountable!!!

This is a dictatorship that survived for decades with a single and simple line of a LIE they claim they are the descendants of the Prophet Mohammad.

I wonder what the world would be like if not one single drop of oil was ever found in the Middle East.

"Human Rights" will likely be the most used phrase in US diplomacy now...

It replaces the one most used over the past four years; "I would like you to do us a favor though"....

You might want to study up on how Danish armor in Kosovo dealt with a Serbian attack. The Serbs were forced to retreat in the face of rapid and accurate Danish fire from their Leopard IIs. You might also want to read up on the combat history of the Royal Swedish Air Force in the UN Congo mission in 1961. Swedish J-29 Tunnans were the UNs only combat air power and the Swedish aircraft and pilots acquitted themselves well, with most observers being highly impressed with their capabilities. The Swedish Army had a more difficult time defeating the rebel forces there but were eventually successful, but not without losses. Btw, the Swedish Army has had a battalion of infantry in Afghanistan under NATO command even though they are not a NATO member.

Wonder why the war in Yemen is still dragging on, after the numerous casualties from US guided Saudi incessant airstrikes in the past years.

New State secretary talking about human rights in Yemen with Saudi? Is he?

Well, I hope that is true, alas there is no substance to the claim.

Well, it’s only been a day.
