Thank you saviors of the world for continuing to export your "democracy and good will"..

Pathetic, this is not the second world war, solve your own problems first..

Again? This is just crazy, I’ll be so happy after November when McCarthy can stop this dolling out US taxpayer funded money that should be used the nation and not just frivolously be given to any country at any given time at a blink of an eye, just outrageous, just 61 days left until this madness is behind us.

Bass - just curious on how you think Republicans in general and McCarthy specifically feel on supporting Ukraine?

You’re welcome!!!

America is by no mean the saviors of the world, or perfect but we will never be communist, or be afraid of Russia or China.

We do, I do, and I think we should, but not at this rate. We don’t have the money and we need to take care of our nation first, that is the first and foremost priority.

So Ukraine gets another $2 billion in the world's best weapons and the Russians have got...... N. Korea's cast off junk.

To be fair, they also have access to Iranian junk as well.

Oh yeah, things are going just as minions planned, lol.

Santa Claus Blinken shows up randomly with another 2.6 Billion dollars.

My guess is Blinkin is gonna have a VERY VERY cushy chair at Raytheon AND Northrop Grumman when he’s finished money printing and government post.

@tokyoliving

this is not the second world war,

Really? An authoritarian strongman invades a smaller, weaker neighbor with the aim to restoring a concocted fantasy empire, while much of the rest of Europe turns to the US and UK for help? Well, it's not exactly WW2, but it sure is close.

Thursday's contributions bring total U.S. aid to Ukraine to $15.2 billion since Biden took office. U.S. officials said the new commitments were intended to show that American support for the country in the face of Russia's invasion is unwavering.

It’s an okay start. The US needs to stay the course as long as necessary.

We don’t have the money and we need to take care of our nation first, that is the first and foremost priority.

This is taking care of the US first. If Russia is not stopped in Ukraine then Russia will attack NATO allies Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Each of these nations, like Ukraine, are former Soviet republics that Vladimir Putin and the ideology of Russkiy Mir do not view as independent nations but rather integral parts of Russia. Russkiy Mir ideology sees ever Slavic speaking region and every part of the former Russian Empire to be land that must be taken back by force if necessary. That includes some of the 'Stans as well that have large Russian speaking minorities. Understand that Russkiy Mir ideology is what is driving Russia's political and religious leadership.

There is no way the US can stay out of such a conflict as it naturally and inevitably threatens US security. Better and far less costly to arm the Ukrainians and defeat Russia in Ukraine than have to fight a potentially nuclear war to defend NATO. Arming Ukraine today is money well spent and is an infinitesimal fraction of what an open war with Russia would cost.

Not a world war yet, but allowing Russia to win and then consolidate that win would very much be like the opening gambits of Hitler taking Sudetenland and Czechoslovakia then annexing Austria and would lead to something much more like WWII. If the US and other western democracies learned anything from the lead up to WWII it is that appeasing a dictator does not lead to future peace. It only whets their appetite for further conquest. Historians may later look back and wonder why that dictator attacked knowing the nations being attacked ultimately had the economic might to prevail in the end but too often dictators intent on expanding their empire greatly overestimate the ability of their own armies and underestimate those of their enemies. Japan had to learn this lesson the hard way attacking the US in WWII and Germany likewise underestimated the ability of the Brits and the other allies to hang on and eventually defeat them.
