"When asked if he were prepared to let department funding run out, Boehner told Fox News, “Certainly. The House has acted. We’ve done our job.” - article

No surprises here. The GOP-Tea is happy to furlough National Security. Can't get more Patriotic than that. Or, is that Idiotic? It's impossible to tell any more with the GOP-Tea.

It's just amazing to me that Republican strategists locked themselves in a room and decided that yet another shutdown would be the way to go. Or maybe I shouldn't be amazed, I dunno. Congress had the votes for a much larger immigration reform package that would have passed both the House and Senate but Beohner blocked the vote it because of infighting in the GOP.

So here we are. No major reforms and the DHS might lose funding. Beohner really created a mess for America with this one and now he's going out promoting a message that he got the job done. I'm sure even the non-radicals in the Republican Party are scratching their heads over that one.

So much of the Washington experience is a private one.

So little of the experience of the Congressional Representative has any reality.

It seems very easy to imagine personal vendettas and shadow boxing all for some agenda of making a lobbyist happy and assuring some posturing certainty. They tell themselves appearance is reality and conversely all reality is appearance only. Inside that contradiction these, many not too bright, ideologues march in little circles of allegiance.

And this then is the merry go round of Washington's unreality. Forgiven them, they know not whom they harm nor what they do; that's reality.

So why fund an agency that basically proved to be less effective before both the CIA and FBI started sharing information. That money could be allocated to somewhere else and used more wisely. I get it, when a Republican wants to scrape a program that doesn't work it's bad, but when liberals do it, it's ok.

So because Boehner proposes something the rest of the Republicans have to go along? Unlike the Democrats, they don't all share the same minds and opinions. What Boehner proposed was essentially a bad idea in its current form. Why award law breakers.

Compared to what Obama has done to the entire country. What Boehner did doesn't even come remotely close.

I'm sorry bass but your comments don't make a lot of sense, and that's on a number of levels.

You are so right... what Boehner has done is nothing compared to what the unhinged loons to his right have done and will do once they get back in control... Boehner is a moderate compared to them....

I'm sorry bass but your comments don't make a lot of sense, and that's on a number of levels.

Now you understand how the majority of Americans feel about how Obama and the Dems are leading this country. It just doesn't make any sense, NONE of it!

You are so right... what Boehner has done is nothing compared to what the unhinged loons to his right have done and will do once they get back in control... Boehner is a moderate compared to them....

Wt....Sorry, let me rephrase it once again, so you don't have to take what I said earlier out of context.

The last 6 years the majority of Americans feel the country is on the wrong track. There is another part of America besides Washington, California and New York believe it or not. DEMS lost the House in 2010 and the Senate in 2014 the people spoke, they clearly reject liberal destructive policies, if not, the Dems would still be in power, but they aren't. So if anyone is unhinged, it's first and foremost, his majesty and his minions, I just thank the heavens that Harry Reid is no longer a thorn in Congresses eye. The guy was a complete Buffon, not to mention disaster.

There are so many cringe-worthy lessons to be learned here. Boehner, I'll throw you a bone: Do not take a hostage that you are unprepared to shoot. This is - what, the fourth time? - that you have painted yourself into a corner. My dog learns more quickly than that. Another bone: do not mock your counterparts in the Senate. Boehner so helpfully taunted, "You know, in the gift shop out here they've got these little booklets on how a bill becomes a law." Yes; perhaps you should buy one and read the fine print on Senate rules, particularly regarding the filibuster, a tool gone from the GOP's darling to its bane faster than Brian Williams fell from favor. Another: the GOP House proposal to eliminate the filibuster on budget bills would only work if this were purely a budget bill, which it clearly is not. We can all agree that the filibuster is overused, but this gambit is akin to claiming you ate your vegetables because of the ketchup you smeared on your large serving of fries. Finally, keep your eye on the endgame. Even sans filibuster, the House bill is DOA at the White House, and while the filibuster (being simply a Senate rule) can be gamed, the Constitution cannot. A vetoed bill will not attract the required 60 votes for an override.

Less than two months into the new year and the GOP is already manifestly displaying why they cannot be trusted with government. What is hard to believe is that it will likely only get worse.

Oh! Well, looks like we are heading to clean system, never shoot our foot to collect disability...yo know what I mean?

The Gridlocked Old Party.

Because economic domestic terrorism really worked for them last time.

Superlib,

They have moderates?

Obama is the one who shot the Republicans again and again, the man who so infamously said in 2008 to John McCain, "elections have consequences, you lost, I won." Did he EVER care to work with the GOP on anything-absolutely NOT!

This is - what, the fourth time? - that you have painted yourself into a corner. My dog learns more quickly than that. Another bone: do not mock your counterparts in the Senate. Boehner so helpfully taunted, "You know, in the gift shop out here they've got these little booklets on how a bill becomes a law."

Harry Reid was the poster boy for breaking every rule in the Senate, until he finally lost his position and hit upside his head. Wonder if HE ever learned anything from all this. Perhaps, lying will get you nowhere, but a black eye.

Libs are such hypocrites. How many times did they use a filibuster when a Republican was in office NOT to mention, Reid and his minions wanted to introduce the "Nuclear option" to block any Republican filibuster or opposition to Democrat legislation. When libs block filibusters it's ok, but when conservatives do it, it's just an outright crime. No wonder Dems lost, not once, but twice! They will never get it and now that John Stewart is gone, how will you guys ever manage to get your daily dose of comedy....or news if you want to give the comedian the title of journalist.

Less than two months into the new year and the GOP is already manifestly displaying why they cannot be trusted with government.

Give it time, after 6 years of Obama destroying the country, we should at least give the Republicans a chance, they can't be worse than what we've had for the last two terms, I'm quite hopeful, personally speaking.

What is hard to believe is that it will likely only get worse.

That would just most likely almost be impossible to ever happen.

Many have the comfort of opinion stated as fact. For them, their opinion is fact. In fact their opinion is a form of guessing or a prejudicial cant to achieve some purpose not clearly stated.

Speaker Boehner claims he has done his job and the undeniable fact is: "When asked if he were prepared to let department funding run out, Boehner told Fox News, “Certainly". - article

The fact is the GOP-Tea has crafted a false choice: Overturning Obama’s move to limit deportations for millions of immigrants has been tied to disarming Homeland Security.

This is Speaker Boehner's idea of doing his job. First, threatening Homeland Security, a Department created by George W. Bush, because it has no value and is a waste of taxpayer dollars just as some have stated here.

For Speaker Boehner this is an important goal and his way of undoing the damage of George W. Bush's do nothing Department of Homeland Security so the funds can be used for other purposes also as some here have approved of. Many agree with Speaker Boehner, and that also is a fact.

The Speaker's hands are tied and he is helpless. Either he is successful in dismantling the window dressing Homeland Security uselessly provides or allow some limits on deportations for millions of immigrants.

Speaker Boehner has found the perfect solution; Dismantling George W. Bush's propaganda department of false security and as a bonus directing millions of immigrants be deported without delay. In Speaker Boehner's opinion the facts of George W. Bush's failure are as contemptible as limiting deportations of millions of immigrants. The facts then are clear in Speaker Boehner's opinion. And, again, many agree with Speaker Boehner.

Yes, and equally both political sides do this.

Speaker Boehner claims he has done his job and the undeniable fact is: "When asked if he were prepared to let department funding run out, Boehner told Fox News, “Certainly". - article

Shall I compile a list of all and every promise Obama and the Dems made? Tell me, how much time do you have?

The fact is the GOP-Tea has crafted a false choice: Overturning Obama’s move to limit deportations for millions of immigrants has been tied to disarming Homeland Security.

Thankfully, the Supreme Court looked over the case very methodically and decided to block Obama's immigration plan. Not letting partisan politics cloud their judegment, they came to a very sensible decision.

This is Speaker Boehner's idea of doing his job. First, threatening Homeland Security, a Department created by George W. Bush, because it has no value and is a waste of taxpayer dollars just as some have stated here.

Obama still didn't address the $18 Trillion debt. Any idea when he will confront and tell us his plan for cutting spending and tackling the deficit?

For Speaker Boehner this is an important goal and his way of undoing the damage of George W. Bush's do nothing Department of Homeland Security so the funds can be used for other purposes also as some here have approved of. Many agree with Speakers Boehner, and that also is a fact.

Obama did the exact same thing when he cut NASA and is now trying to cut our military to pay for his massive entitlement programs. Where is your outrage?

The Speaker's hands are tied and he is helpless. Either he is successful in dismantling the window dressing Homeland Security uselessly provides or allow some limits on deportations for millions of immigrants.

Why should immigration be granted to people that broke the law, but people that followed the immigration law have to wait for years?

Speaker Boehner has found the perfect solution; Dismantling George W. Bush's propaganda department of false security and as a bonus directing millions of immigrants be deported without delay. In Speaker Boehner's opinion the facts of George W. Bush's failure are as contemptible as limiting deportations of millions of immigrants.

You meant illegal immigrants. Just to make it perfectly clear.

The facts then are clear in Speaker Boehner's opinion. And, again, many agree with Speaker Boehner.

When it comes to illegal immigration, yes.

The proof of opinion is its freedom from facts; some are so free there is little that ties them to reality except the vain wish to be right about something, even once, by accident. Just like the broken clock of the GOP-Tea.

The GOP-Tea thought Sarah Palin should be one heart beat from the Oval Office. (McCain would have been the oldest person to assume the Presidency in history, age 72) Amusing, but dangerous, the GOP-Tea plays a mean game of "Can You Top This?" They did! George W. Bush followed by Palin? Dumber and Dumber wasn't a movie, it was the GOP-Tea plan for the Presidency.

Fast-Forward: Following in that depth of thought, "Speaker John Boehner is raising the possibility that the Department of Homeland Security may shut down at the end of the month." - article

Wisely threatening the Government of the United States, Safety of the Citizens and Voting Stake Holders, Speaker John Boehner again proves the intellectual capacity of the GOP-Tea. Bush, Palin, Boehner, the trifecta of stupid pays out Five Trillion from the Taxpayer to achieve, well, nothing but a handy profit to Cheney's Halliburton.

Homeland Security might start looking into the GOP-Tea in their last thirty days of existence. About 200,000 of the agency’s approximately 230,000 employees could probably come up with something.

The proof of opinion is its freedom from facts; some are so free there is little that ties them to reality except the vain wish to be right about something, even once, by accident. Just like the broken clock of the GOP-Tea.

So that's why this president is constantly pushing the envelope and spoon feeding people constant fallible, hollowed rhetoric.

The GOP-Tea thought Sarah Palin should be one heart beat from the Oval Office. (McCain would have been the oldest person to assume the Presidency in history, age 72) Amusing, but dangerous, the GOP-Tea plays a mean game of "Can You Top This?" They did! George W. It wouldn't have been as bad as if John Edwards became president with that scandal over his head and the man was seen as a shoe in for the Democrats and let's not forget how great he was to his dying wife. How old will Hilary be if she becomes the president? This president is by far the worst ever.

Boehner, the trifecta of stupid pays out Five Trillion from the Taxpayer to achieve, well, nothing but a handy profit to Cheney's Halliburton.

So what did we get besides, a raise in unemployment benefits, food stamps up, unemployment for Blacks and Hispanics are up. Wages are down, high paying jobs aren't enough. And when will Obama address the deficit and the $18Trillion debt?

Homeland Security might start looking into the GOP-Tea in their last thirty days of existence. About 200,000 of the agency’s approximately 230,000 employees could probably come up with something.

It just kills you that the Dems lost twice. It just hurts that bad. LOL

I agree. And I know absolutely nothing about history.
