The goal of Islamist terrorists seems to be to drag their compatriots into an unending state of primitive barbarism; to seize hold of the clock and forcibly bend its hands backwards. They would raze their own societies to the ground and then enthrone themselves amidst the ashes - monarchs of charred bones, rubble, and all-encompassing ignorance.

Idiots! They kill those who learn to reduce famine in Africa. Dumb a$$ 's! And for what? The "western" world will tolerate only so much before these coward types are eliminated.

And to use these examples to condemn religion is shallow. I think religion helps many more than it harms.

yes - the idea is to rule via violence and bullets- the only modern element being the weapons used to kill.

but unlike what Markg states- the west will eventually stop stepping in- more countries will go the way of somalia , look at Libya- still no real government, only oil contracts for france, Iraq is starting to fail and no one will pick it up again, afghanistan will fall back into the abyss, and syria will fail as well- leaving Egypt as a westernized country struggling with the muslim brotherhood

not looking pretty

Triumvere

" The goal of Islamist terrorists seems to be to drag their compatriots into an unending state of primitive barbarism; to seize hold of the clock and forcibly bend its hands backwards. "

Well, they would phrase it differently. Their goal is to establish the perfect state under their god, where the Koran is the constitution, and strict Shariah is observed.

Of course, the way this looks in reality is in line with your description. But the Boko Haram followers are pious believers who are doing nothing wrong in their own view.

Killing people in their sleep!

The only way that could be more heinous and cowardly is if they did it by remote control.

Whoever did this not human. But has Boko actually claimed responsibility, or are we just supposed to believe the Nigerian military spokesman?

Religion and money...mix the two and you have a cocktail for power and killing

I see it as the West will need to step in eventually. This type of movement is like a cancer. It will spread until stopped.

The alternative is that the people whose relatives are being murdered by Boko Haram will start gathering and fighting back. Of course this results in war, but the last time a group of po'd civilians killed the Islamists the Islamists started a "revenge" and "retaliation" situation. They love that...

I see it as the West will need to step in eventually.

All the 'West' has done for Africa is plunder resources, condone Apartheid, and arm kleptocrats.

Forget the Gulf kingdoms: Turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia are great examples of pluralist and democratic Muslim societies.

Let those who Boko Haram and Al Shaabab try to radicalize, understand that economic wellbeing, universal education and suffrage are fully compatible with Islam.

Let's expose the so-called Islamists as the narcissistic and sacrilegious thugs they are.
