The media referring to him as Russian and not Ukrainian means the media is recognizing Russian jurisdiction over Donetsk.

Be honest if it was the other was around you would be saying it was a sign Russia news sees Donetsk as Ukrainian.

AS - I don't really put a whole lot of stock into things like this. Not really the pedantic type and don't care too much about what media says. I don't have cable and I don't go to the MSM as my prime sources of info. Just like you. I occasionally post what the talking heads on Russian TV say, but only because I think most people outside of Russia see what they are saying.

A bomb in a public cafe is terrorism.

By your words then, Russia sure is committing a lot of terrorism in Ukraine then.

20 ( +33 / -13 )

Now this was 100% by Ukrainian SBU and no way internally by Russians.

He was a mid size blogger at best, the majority of his followers are from outside Russia.

This was why he was targeted by Ukraine.

The western governments have already silence most free press on the war so people turn to bloggers even YouTube is now mostly censored in the west.

If this was international by Russians they would have gone for more popular bloggers and vloggers in Russia like Wargonzo with more than twice the follower with 1.2 million on twitter and more than that on telegraph.

There are other with 2, 3, 4 even 5 million followers domestically in Russia if this was by Russians they would have been the real targets.

Vladlen Tatarsky was born in Donestz his audience was Ukrainian and Russian from or in Ukraine and occupied territories not actual Russia so far more important to the Ukrainians to get ride of him.

-25 ( +12 / -37 )

I find it interesting that Ukrainian bloggers/YouTubers are operating in Japan and other non European countries outside Ukraine.

Why because they violate the anti-nazi laws in places like Poland, Germany, even in ultra pro Ukraine Canada their content violates the laws.

Will we be seeing retaliations on these ultra Nationalist Ukrainian bloggers in Japan and other places they are permitted to operate?

-22 ( +12 / -34 )

Which 'ultra Nationalist Ukrainian bloggers' are you referring to, AS? Who do you imagine will be doing the retaliating?

15 ( +24 / -9 )

Is it terrorism? Yes.

But . . .

Terrorism as being the deliberate bombing of schools, hospitals and apartment buildings in Ukraine leading to thousands of civilian deaths? Yes.

If the number of deaths of innocent non-combatants is any indicator, the Russians are much better at terrorism than the Ukrainians.

Who started the terrorism? Russia, of course!

16 ( +29 / -13 )

The culprit has been arrested. A 40 year-old women who had been living in St Petersburg for almost a year but is a native of Ivano-Frankovsk, you know, the place where a large majority of the population has a positive view of the UPA.

Anyway, she's going to share all the info she has on everyone and Galicia is going to get pummeled again. All for one blogger from Donetsk. Was it worth it?

-16 ( +9 / -25 )

On the city administration of Artemovsk (Bakhmut), Wagner hoisted the flag of the Russian Federation. Legally Artemovsk is taken, Prigozhin said.

The first suspect is arrested. It's Dariya Trepova. Her husband is being searched.

Not sure what you mean?

Look up Wargonzo. Far more popular in Russia as are several others, I don't understand Russian so I don't know all of them but this guy was one of the least known in Russia proper.

-13 ( +9 / -22 )

After they attacked the bridge (and killed several innocent people, including the Georgian truck driver)

Legitimate as any attack Russia has made in this war. That bridge is serving military purposes.

Other that they, they only attacked cities away from the front to target NATO personnel or weapons.

Isn't that convenient that a NATO person was standing next to each of the targets Russia illegally attacked.

Those outside of Russia are going to have look over their shoulders for the rest of their lives (NATO will help them change identities but Russian special services will seek out their new identities) while those inside Russia will do the hardest of hard time until death.

I don't think you should be proud of Russia being a lawless state that poisons people abroad, throws them out of windows, and I guess when they are feeling a little bit civilized, disappear them into the gulag system.

10 ( +19 / -9 )

Why because they violate the anti-nazi laws in places like Poland, Germany, even in ultra pro Ukraine Canada their content violates the laws.

Canada does not have anti-Nazis laws.

Bombing a public cafe is an act of murder and nothing else. Many more could have been killed.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

> Canada does not have anti-Nazis laws.

Canada has anti hate speech and these bloggers/YouTubers long before the war long before 2014 made hate content promoting ethnic cleansing, including anti ethnic Polish, Anti ethnic Russia, anti-Semitic, etc.. they are Ukraine for "pure Ukrainians" .

The fact you do not understand the facts or laws in Canada is perhaps a good reason not to say something before you learn.

-17 ( +6 / -23 )

The so-called warlord Vladlen Tatarskyi, whose real name is Maksym Fomin, was originally from Makiivka, Donetsk region. Since 2011, he was in Horlivka prison for bank robbery, but after the Russian invasion in 2014, he escaped and began fighting as part of Russian militants against Ukraine. With the start of a full-scale war, the collaborator became a "warlord" and called on Russia to kill as many Ukrainians as possible and commit genocide and violence.

Simple logic, why would Anti war anti Putin Russians go after a Donestz blogger more viewed outside Russia?

If this was internal they would have gone after half a dozen far more popular with far larger audience inside Russia bloggers.

Their are far far far bigger pro Putin/war bloggers that target Russians inside Russia proper but instead they kill a blogger barely know inside Russia with most of his followers being ethnic Russian from Ukraine or occupied Ukraine.

-10 ( +8 / -18 )

Canada does not have anti-nazi laws.

Which Canadian Law is anti-Nazi?

"Sixteen European countries, along with Canada and Israel, have laws against Holocaust denial, the denial of the systematic genocidal killing of approximately six million Jews in Europe by Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 1940s. Many countries also have broader laws that criminalize genocide denial. Among the countries that ban Holocaust denial, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Romania also ban other elements associated with Nazism, such as the display of Nazi symbols. "

"The legality of Holocaust denial in Canada has come up in several court cases. In R v Zundel, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that Ernst Zündel, a German-born immigrant, who was a prolific Holocaust denier, could not be convicted for “spreading of false news”, as it would be against Canada's Charter guarantee of free expression."

"According to The Canadian Press, the federal government announced a bill in 2022 that will change the Criminal Code to outlaw Holocaust denial and similar forms of antisemitic hate speech."

"As of June 23, 2022, the willful promotion of antisemitism is illegal in Canada. Persons found guilty of wilfully promoting antisemitism by "condoning, denying or downplaying the Holocaust" may receive a prison sentence not more than 2 years or a summary conviction."

Neither is running an online hit-list called 'Myrotvorets', which has the names of 4000 journalists on it, including Keir Simmons of NBC, along with Henry Kissinger, Roger Waters, Berlusconi, German ex-president Schroeder, etc. Neither is closing down all opposition parties and confiscating their funds.

It doesn't matter how the bomb is delivered; by hand, by truck, by SU27 or by B52.

haven't heard anything about a "war." Why are they at war with Russia?

their leader, that Zelensky fellow, has claimed such a "war" is going on, in his quest to get 100 billion dollars from the West to fight such a war. so maybe money?

You sure have a lot of questions, maybe you should read something instead of asking to explain everything to you like a small child.

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

That’s very overestimated. Can be anything, not only propaganda or war related, but also an unpaid monthly loan rate, a delayed payment for drugs, incidentally present at this cafe during random terrorist or partisan attack, and whatever else. That he hadn’t an entourage of bodyguards or a team that checks people and things like that statue coming nearby to him, shows 100% clearly the insignificance, doesn’t it?

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

their leader, that Zelensky fellow, has claimed such a "war" is going on, in his quest to get 100 billion dollars from the West to fight such a war. so maybe money?

Ridiculous! They aren't receiving actual money. They're getting weapons to defend themselves. What an absurd thing to say.

Do you think bombing a cafe in St. Petersburg is worse than what Russia is doing in Ukraine?

Really weird how some people here will quickly criticize Ukraine for this, but have nothing to say about Russia doing this literally every day for more than a year now.

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. While the U.S. is indeed providing weapons and equipment to Ukraine, it has also provided billions in financial assistance to the country following Russia’s invasion.

Right. And the price tag just to fix the country is in the hundreds of billions. The notion that Ukraine chose to get invaded, to have large swaths of the country completely destroyed, and lose 10,000s of thousands of citizens for a few billion dollars is absurd. It is downright comical to make such a claim.

I just want to know, are you equally upset by what Russia is doing in Ukraine as you are about the bombing in St. Petersburg?

2 ( +7 / -5 )

4 ( +8 / -4 )

26 billion isnt an insignificant amount of money- if its only split between Zelensky and a few helpful oligarchs. with the traditional 10% cut for the Big Guy, of course.

It's estimated that it'll cost $500billion just to put the country back together. $26 billion is absolutely insignificant in that regard.

What you're alleging is the functional equivalent of burning your own house down so they insurance company will pay for the paint job. It's absurd.

And it does not matter if we are talking about radioactive "harmless" NATO shells or this terrorist attack.Your figure out by yourself.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

It was not immediately known who was behind the killing. The head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said on Sunday he would "not blame the Kyiv regime" for it.

The bomber was a young Russian woman.

An eye-witness report says the 'suspect' claimed she was asked to leave the statue at the door by security, then she talked and laughed with Tatarsky before running to the door, picking the statue up and giving it to him. He placed it on a table and shortly after it exploded.

https://www.npr.org/2023/04/02/1167675096/explosion-russia-pro-war-military-blogger-ukraine

But there is video supposedly taken in the cafe, of the statue being given to Tatarsky by a man, said to be the MC. Now this video is on reddit, so obviously not your most reliable news source.... but it does perhaps add depth to the discussion.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/129rlqz/russian_military_propagandist_vladlen_tatarsky/

Was the woman the one who put the bomb inside the statue ? If so, why wasn't it found when it was checked by security?

What about if it was a genuine gift, and the bomb was inserted by the security people?

So who were they working for?

Word has it that while being an ardent supporter of the smo, Tatarsky often criticised the military for its many failures in Ukraine. The cafe was owned by Prigozhin, also critical of Putin's military policies.

My instinct tells me this stinks to high heaven of false flags. The russian FSS?
