I know it has been said before, but the US invasions really did stir things up. Saddam may have been a tyrant, but my guess is that living in Iraq under him was better than today.

Those "Seeds of Democracy" that the US were going to plant in the Middle East - did anyone remember to pack them?

This the daily death toil of Saddam and his cronies plus general repression- rather than once in a while like now. Expect the typical revisionist attitude- the oppressive dictator wasn't so bad.

Ol' "W" would not listen to any calm voice. Iraq and Afghanistan are losers just like Vietnam. Billions of dollars and thousands of live, and "W' and the rest of the war machine cannot show any progress.

Better to stick with the evil you know than invite in a totally new evil.

Saddam may have been a tyrant, but

It's the "but" that always gets me.

It's easy to blame W but think what the poor people of Iraq had before. They did not have freedom with Saddam in power nor did they know the truth of their people been tortured and killed every day because the government controlled all the media outlet. All in all, I think that eventually, they will find their way in a Democracy and learn to care for their trouble through dialogue. I wish them well. And GOD bless President Bush!

@Cubano 'God bless President Bush' Is this the same god who told him to invade Iraq in the first place?

"sectarian violence"

Idiots.

"Saddam may have been a tyrant, but my guess is that living in Iraq under him was better than today"

Sure, if you were a Sunni Muslim and didn't openly criticize Saddam or his winsome sons or Chemical Ali in public.

Forgive me for being callous, but these extremists need to do one thing to end all the bloodshed. Build a nuke, and shoot it straight up and then wait for it to come down. Why try doing one suicide bomber at a time and just end it all at once, commit suicide and mass murder at the same time.

If there's one lesson here it seems to be that you can't have peace even between Muslims, fitna is awake and going strong.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Security, deserve neither Liberty nor Security.

Sunnis and Shiites need to learn to get along or they will just keep killing each other.
