Well in the Midwest we see the bi-annual complaining as a sacred duty handed down to us by God to inform the masses about how crappy the weather is. My personal record for grumbling is about 10 months when El-Nino came around in 1995, not a nice day to be found for nearly a year in Detroit. Only reason I could remember what the sun looked like was a flight from Metro to Kai Tak...thank God they replaced that monstrosity.

Sarnia, Ontario had about 150 cm of snow over a 3 day period. That lake effect really stranded motorists. The Canadian SAR squadron, 424 Sqn. in Trenton, Ontario sent a Hercules and 2 Griffin helicopters to get people out of there.

It's really vexing to see how the ignoramuses who post practically everywhere on the Web keep harping on the seemingly contradictory term "global warming," when the accepted term some years ago became "climate change." But there's no point in trying to argue with people in denial of reality, and it's probably already too late to do anything about it in any case.

"Climate change" became the accepted term BY the "man-made CO2 global warming" zealots when they couldn't prove that the GLOBAL tempurature was actually warming. The name was no longer applicable, so they changed it.

It is not too hot in July. Try August. I am a New Yorker. I like it hot and humid, but hate snow.

When was the last time you checked? The amount of Arctic ice has been increasing. Are you going to play the "polar bear" card next?

Is Ontario in the U.S.?

The Blue Mountain Ski Resort is just outside Collingwood, about two hours' drive north of Toronto. Like Sarnia, it's firmly in southern Ontario. Northern Ontario begins much much further north, say Sault Ste. Marie or Sudbury, both a day's drive from T.O.

Glad I'm not there, though. That's a lot of snow, eh?

The colder it gets, the less snow you have.

I like the snow. Made a 12 foot tall snowman the other day with 10 friends. Never gets old. ;)

I lived in Buffalo, NY during "The Great Blizzard of '77" and loved every inch of the snow. I live in Okinawa now and all we have to look forward to are typhoons for excitement and they hardly hit anymore. I miss the action in the U.S. Send some of the snow this way!!!

Apparently, they are expecting another 40cm of snow in the next 24 hours in the Sarnia area for a total of close to 2 meters. That's a lot of snow...

So this is why I have never been back east, brrrr!!!

There's another ice storm brewing for Kentucky and Tennessee too. We're looking at 3" of snow on top of a half inch of ice. Driving is going to be a nightmare for a couple of days.
