“This is deadly stuff,” the president repeated for emphasis.

Trump's bungled management of the virus one more demerit added to his legacy, a legacy that will live in infamy. But Xi and Putin smile at the job Trump's done in hurting the US both domestically and internationally.

“He had the information," Biden said during a campaign event in Michigan. “He knew how dangerous it was.”

Trump shut down travel from China Jan. 31. Biden wouldn't have. Biden is a joke.

Biden: "COVID has taken this year, just since the outbreak, has taken more than 100 years… Look. Here’s… The lives… It’s just… I mean, think about it."

Like I said, Biden is a joke.

-8 ( +7 / -15 )

Deflecting to Biden, which means that you are admitting that Trump screwed up. Thank you for being honest.

Serrano

 Biden wouldn't have.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Once again, tapes...

The President's own words convict him?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Media takes half the quote again.

Trump told Woodward on March 19 that he deliberately minimized the danger. “I wanted to always play it down,” the president said. “I still like playing it down because I don't want to create a panic."

I am quite sure the non Trump interview portions of the book will be total speculation by off the record anonymous people who are disgruntled/fired same as the last book.

But the Trump part is how it should be done. Direct quotes, then Trump can be asked what he meant in context and at the time he said it. He can explain and people can accept or not accept his answer.

I agree with his response and understand that as a leader he felt it necessary to not panic anyone. Same response as Japan and many other countries.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Still doesn't explain why Trump, to this day, downplays social distancing and using a mask.

Unless, of course, you believe he threw caution to the wind to help the economy for his re-election chances

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Woodward book, Cohen book, Strzok book. All doing multiple media interviews, including Cohen who is actually supposed to be in prison.

Going all in with the last desperate narratives right before the election. Biden must be in big trouble.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

“The president has never lied to the American public on COVID.

In Bill Clinton's voice, 'depends on what you think 'lie' means'.

Trump's got his taxpayer paid WH PR team, his global media, his Republican rapid response team, plus who knows how many Kremlin troll army members interpreting and re-interpreting what he says in attempts to get his gullible cult members to believe what he said.

Fortunately the majority of Americans have long given up believing a single word spoken by Trump, or anyone in his administration for that matter.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Woodward book, Cohen book, Strzok book.

Only one book has trunk admitting on take that he lied to you and downplayed a deadly virus, while taking virtually no action, apart from atoken flight ban on China. How many deaths did his approach result in? Thousands.

Gross negligence at best.

The man is not fit for office, not of any kind.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

He didn’t lie to me. He said he deliberately downplayed the virus to prevent panic.

truthful action that happened and reason why he did it. How is that a lie?

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Even Fauci, the liberals Sainted physician backs Trump. Let’s hope liberals can put this to rest since they stress to us on an hourly basis that Fauci is the messiah of medicine. Don’t trust Trump, trust Fauci and his words.

"I didn’t get any sense that he was distorting anything. In my discussions with him, they were always straightforward about the concerns that we had," Fauci said.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2020/09/09/fauci_trump_did_not_distort_coronavirus_concerns_said_similar_things_in_public_as_he_did_in_private.html

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

How is that a lie?

How is it a lie to publicly claim the virus is harmless and will go away in the Spring when he privately acknowledges it's "deadly stuff"? Is that your question? Lol

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Even Woodward himself saying things that support Trump, liberals are now blaming him for not releasing what the President said earlier.

Woodward told the AP he was not convinced Trump was receiving accurate information about the virus until May, when it had spread around the country.

“If I had done the story at that time about what he knew in February, that’s not telling us anything we didn’t know,” he said, saying that at that point he prioritized getting the book published before the election in November.

Wasnt it the "medical experts" who should have been telling us how deadly it is? Even Woodward didnt believe Trump when Trump told him it was deadly in February. He wasnt convinced that was even a true statement until May. Fauci was running around saying we dont need masks until April.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Dems upset that Trump didn’t rile up the people into a panic. Trump severely restricts travel from China, Dems call him racist and a xenophobe. Biden never would have restricted travel because he believes it’s racist. A month after the travel ban Pelosi was in Chinatown without a mask encouraging tourists to visit.

Expect 54 more days of misinformation and slanders. Dems and their allies in big business, the media, and Hollywood are going to leave nothing to chance this time. If you are a Trump supporter you should accept the reality that your man is up against more organized entrenched special interest opposition than any candidate for president ever. I can’t definitely say he will lose re-election - I didn’t think he would overcome Hillary’s Russian dossier and overwhelming media bias in her favor - but for Trump to win this time would be an even bigger shocker.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

One thing you can be sure of is that this book won’t affect the trump followers.

Because like their leader, none of the trump supporters read!!!!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

As if a book on Biden or Biden’s bigoted comments will deter Trump haters from voting for the guy.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Yet strangely what you posted here seems visually familiar to me.

Almost like I can read what you wrote here after reading this article. imagine that.

Because like their leader, none of the trump supporters read!!!!

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Unless you got a crystal ball, you are making predictions about what Biden would have done.

As it turns out Trump should have also banned travel from the EU, since that strain of the virus is the one that struck the US.

Wolfpack

Trump severely restricts travel from China, Dems call him racist and a xenophobe. Biden never would have restricted travel because he believes it’s racist. A month after the travel ban Pelosi was in Chinatown without a mask encouraging tourists to visit.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

One thing you can be sure of is that this book won’t affect the trump followers.

This book wont affect anyone except clutching-at-straws Dems.

Just yet another book that will excite “progressives” for a while then gather dust and be forgotten like all the others.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Trump gave Woodward 18 tape-recorded interviews between December 2019-July 2020 for a book that would come out 6 weeks before Election Day. total transparency.

Yet we rarely hear anything from Biden or Harris about clarifications of their flip flops on fracking, the national mask mandate and more, .

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Trump’s handling of Covid has been a disaster. His supporters stopped mentioning his approval ratings on this as the numbers went from decent to crap.

Out of his depth.

As if a book on Biden or Biden’s bigoted comments will deter Trump haters from voting for the guy.

Trump could shoot you in the head and you would still vote for him. There doesn't seem to be anything in there that you're getting much use out of.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Trump could shoot you in the head and you would still vote for him.

He wouldn't, but Democrats would and judging by the carnage on the streets committed by Biden supporters, I fear them 1000 times more that they would.

There doesn't seem to be anything in there that you're getting much use out of.

Biden's comments? Hardly.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

He knew how bad it could be in early February and he kept it quiet. Not to contain panic, fear and panic are the centerpieces of his re-election campaign (“End the Suburbs” anyone?). He did it to get re-elected.

So he deliberately mislead the public. That’s called lying.

AND HE DID IT ON TAPE, 18 TIMES!

That’s called stupid.

And he admitted to Woodward (who does not have a security clearance) that the US was developing a secret new nuclear weapons system IN THE VERY FIRST INTERVIEW.

That’s called a national security risk.

And still his supporters deflect, parse, deflect and project.

That’s called a cult.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

He boasted about assaulting women.

He disparaged minorities.

He encouraged his followers to commit crimes.

He called the war dead 'suckers'

He played with lives of Americans and at least 60,000+ died because of his lack of responsibility.

The people who still support him do it because he appeals to their racist instincts.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

liberal hero and medical expert Fauci just defended the Trump response (because it was his response too) and sees nothing wrong with it.

".....he really didnt say anything different than we discussed when we were with him. so I may not be tuned in to the right thing they are talking about but I didnt really see any discrepancy between what he told us and what we told him and what he ultimately came out publicly and said....I didnt get any sense that he was distorting anything....I have not seen that type of distortion...."

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Yet strangely what you posted here seems visually familiar to me.

*Almost like I can read what you wrote here after reading this article. imagine that.*

I doubt that!!!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

So Donald Trump knew that Covid-19 was extremely dangerous. It simply boils down to this:

Trump lied.

People died.

Some situations are too grim for words.

Nothing surprising, just disappointing.

In giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe Mattis, Coats, Tillerson, Kelly, Dunford, et al., are saving their public warnings and outcries for an "October surprise." Otherwise, their silence is complicity in helping the most unfit person ever to occupy the Oval Office, remain there.

Each of them should publicly endorse Biden and attack trump for the danger he poses to the nation.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Please come 2021! Virus, Olympics, lockdowns, travel bans and still have American elections.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

I see why they announced the removal of troops from Irag now to distract from this bad news and also being caught calling Vets "suckers" and "losers".

distract, distract, distract.........................!

@lincolnman

Anything other than facing the truth - their Sainted Leader openly lied on tape about the dangers of COVID because he knew it would affect him politically and hurt his reelection....

Some of the trump supporters have been caught lying on JT on many occasions. There is no surprise that they see nothing wrong with trump lying to everyone. Almost 200,000 Americans died because of trump's incompetence.

If it was Pres. Obama, their heads would explode!!!!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

OMG. It's been confirmed he knew. He knew way after I knew. Apparently the US intelligence was sleeping on the job. But then it was all misinformation anyways. Now everything is still clear as mud and the total COVID death should be investigated to see if they're actually COVID deaths. Yeah, whether he knew or not is so relevant. The so-called experts were telling contradicting stories and still do that now.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

By the way, the stable genius just found another to get more Americans infected and sick from the coronavirus.

Exclusive: White House orders end to COVID-19 airport screenings for international travelers

https://news.yahoo.com/exclusive-the-white-house-orders-end-to-covid-19-airport-screenings-for-international-travelers-172713942.html

More deaths on trump's watch!!!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

nd said....I didnt get any sense that he was distorting anything....I have not seen that type of distortion...."

Why do you only quote the parts you want to quote? You left out some stuff:

"I didn't get any sense that he was distorting anything. I mean in my discussions with him, they were always straightforward about the concerns that we had. We related that to him. And when he would go out, I'd hear him discussing the same sort of things. He would often say, 'We just got through with a briefing with the group from the task force,' and would talk about it. So it may have happened, but I have not seen that kind of distortion."

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dr-fauci-trump-woodward-downplay-covid-19

Saying I didn't see Trump distort anything isn't the same thing as he didn't distort anything.

But I must say its quite funny to see we are back to believing Fauci again after just yesterday claiming he was a liberal hack.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Blacklabel:. liberal hero and medical expert Fauci just defended the Trump

Takes guts quoting a guy you've been smearing for months. At this point it should be fair to say you support people when they support your position, and nothing more.

As for Trump, he's still not wearing a mask or practicing social distancing. He's going against everything we know so far.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

The amoral and unethical current occupant of the White House is only concerned about his goal of being reelected.

As time goes on, it confirms he is unfit to be President of the United States of America (POTUS). He must resign now before he does more damage to the nation and the world at large. Damage that will take decades to repair, if ever.

The country has been under an undeclared state of emergency since November 8, 2016.

He was elected once ... shame of on him. He he is reelected, shame on We The People of the United States of America.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Trump Lies Again!

Is anybody really all that surprised that Trump has lied yet again? The man lies every time he exhales a breath.

However, it's perhaps fair to say that Trump's deceitfulness is worse this time regarding the Coronavirus because tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of lives (by the time this is finally over) may have been saved if the president . . . the president. . . had been honest about it. But Trump lied and people died because of it.

Charlatan, snake-oil salesman, jackass, schmuck, traitor, conniver, liar . . . it doesn't matter which one you wish to call Trump because all of them fit.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

The claim is that Trump lied to the public.

Fauci clearly said that Trump said in public exactly what they discussed in private, and that he didnt see any distortion. that all that is necessary, dont need all the could have/maybe/might nonsense that Fauci is famous for.

He didnt see it. He would have seen it, if it had happened. but he didnt, and it didnt.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

or only when Fauci says something you dont like does he relinquish his exalted position as medical expert and liberal messiah?

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Blacklabel:. Fauci clearly said that Trump said in public exactly what they discussed in private, and that he didnt see any distortion.

You clearly said "p-o-l-i-t-i-c-s" to describe Fauci's statements, now you are quoting him as a legitimate source. Convenient.

We give bass a handicap where he can use sources he previously discredited. We will extend that to you.

We aren't cruel. And we enjoy debating with you.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

But you love Fauci and he is never wrong. Yet he said Trump didnt do anything wrong this time.

I can see why you would have trouble reconciling those two things.

I still think Fauci is nonsense, I just use his flip flops to show your hypocrisy of believing him when he makes you happy and deflecting to my opinion of him when he makes you sad.

Dont worry, by tomorrow Fauci will change his mind and say something else.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

is this downplaying the coronavirus in March?

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi toured San Francisco's Chinatown Monday to send a message. She said there's no reason tourists or locals should be staying away from the area because of coronavirus concerns.

"That’s what we’re trying to do today is to say everything is fine here," Pelosi said. "Come because precautions have been taken. The city is on top of the situation."

"But that shouldn’t be carried over to Chinatown in San Francisco," she said. "I hope that it’s not that. But all I can say is, 'I’m here.' We feel safe and sound, so many of us coming here."

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

I still think Fauci is nonsense, I just use his flip flops

You literally just used his statement as supporting evidence.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Yes, because you have to accept it as true based on your months and months of supporting him as the ultimate and only teller of truth.

Or is he lying today when he says he sees no discrepancies in what Trump said privately and what he told the public? cause that is what he said.

Its a conundrum, isnt it? you must hate it when your bringer of truth says Trump is being truthful.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Blacklabel:. Yes, because you have to accept it as true

And you must accept it as false.

See how smart I am?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Dont worry, by tomorrow Fauci will change his mind and say something else.

Ah, so we shouldn't believe the person you point to as proof that Donald couldn't have possibly mislead the public. Got it.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Fauci said he didnt do anything wrong. deal with it. Is Fauci lying to you?

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

if only Fauci didnt flip flop back and forth, change his mind all the time and give vague answers we wouldnt have this credibility problem and we could all believe him every single time he speaks. what a wonderful world it would be if we had a medical expert free of political bias who isnt telling the media whatever they want to hear at the moment.

Unfortunately, I can believe him only this time. A broken clock is right twice a day, is it not?

You can choose to disbelieve him only this time if you like. But that ruins him as your truth teller.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Trump has touted the stock market's gains in recent months and has said his administration's tax cuts and deregulation helped create a powerful economy before the pandemic. He has accused Biden of supporting the offshoring of U.S. jobs.

Terry Bowman, co-chairman of the Michigan Republican Party and a Ford Motor Co worker, said on a call for reporters that Biden was "coming after our jobs."

"I can tell you working right on the assembly line - I can tell you the support for Trump has just skyrocketed and is sky-high," Bowman said.

All of this, plus stroke-victim Biden's pledges to ban firearms, indicates that the election is all but over, and Kamala/Biden will lose.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Fauci said he didnt do anything wrong. deal with it.

hahahahaha That is not what he said. Deal with it.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

you posted what he said.

here it is again. no distortion, straightforward, talked the same in public and private. no distortion. how would you infer something wrong here or that this describes someone who lied?

"I didn't get any sense that he was distorting anything. I mean in my discussions with him, they were always straightforward about the concerns that we had. We related that to him. And when he would go out, I'd hear him discussing the same sort of things. He would often say, 'We just got through with a briefing with the group from the task force,' and would talk about it. So it may have happened, but I have not seen that kind of distortion."

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Blacklabel:.  like Fauci and CNN, why would I not use those in the rare cases they say what I also believe to be true?

Jesus, dude. You are literally saying "why shouldn't I use their information when I agree with it then and toss it aside when I don't?"

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Gotta a question for both sides: Since Trump apparently knew that COVID-19 could get bad, what if, at the onset in the US, Trump had ordered a strong lockdown which eventually succeeded at preventing many of the deaths and ongoing spread of infection? Wouldn't that have been the ideal outcome and wouldn't that have made Trump a lock for winning in November?

Seems like some panic might have been better politically for Trump, rather than the current situation.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

correct. Because you believe him every single time he opens his mouth and I dont.

So when what comes out of his mouth matches what I believe, you have to accept it. Unless Fauci isnt always right? I notice none of you will touch that answer.

You are literally saying "why shouldn't I use their information when I agree with it then and toss it aside when I don't?"

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

So when what comes out of his mouth matches what I believe, you have to accept it.

Of course, everyone has to accept everything because black big brains says so. Gawd.

Here's one for you Black: Why was Donald publicly saying it would go away when the weather warms, but privately saying it was very deadly? Do you seriously not get how that effected public perception and preparation?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

And you have to accept it as truth from your guy, which makes me undisputedly correct by default

Win/win for me.

Well isn't that just a proud achievement to tell your family and friends about in actual face-to-face conversations. I imagine it'll be the first thing you talk about and they'll all be suitably impressed.

Trump shut down travel from China Jan. 31. Biden wouldn't have.

Pure speculation in what Biden would have done.

After what Biden tweeted the the following day you can't seriously believe he would have shut down travel from China at that time.

He boasted about assaulting women.

That was a little one time locker room talk. You wouldn't know anything about that.

He disparaged minorities.

He did not.

He encouraged his followers to commit crimes.

He did not.

He called the war dead 'suckers'

He did not.

He played with lives of Americans and at least 60,000+ died because of his lack of responsibility.

He did not.

The people who still support him do it because he appeals to their racist instincts.

No, we support him because he's the best president we've ever had.
