I want to see Governor DeSantis head explode when it comes to pass that regardless of any laws the state of Florida passes, the good citizens of Florida will not be welcome abroad, or on foreign registered cruise ships, without a valid Covid-19 immunization passport.

I don’t think he really cares. I he cares deeply more for what happens in his State. Other countries globally and States in the US can make their own requirements if they so choose.

"What we need, I think, is a global treaty on pandemic preparedness," he said, adding that 2020 had been a "terrible year for humanity."

You're 16 months too late on the pandemic preparedness.

Vaccine passports are inevitable for international travel. AND they will have the added benefit of freeing those of us rational enough to listen to science from the screeching of semi-literate yokels.

I like the current EU system which allows for vaccinated, antibodies present from previous contagion and a negative test( 15minute tests are now becoming available).

Johnson said he still leaned to the theory that it had spread from wild animals to humans, not leaked from a Chinese laboratory. "But," he added, "I'm not going to exclude any possibility."

I think what this means is that a war with China is on the table !

I'm looking at the photo. Why on earth do we not have testing centres in Japan? Strange how doctors have no qualms about giving patients X-ray exams and yet it is near-impossible to get free-testing.

I'm looking at the photo. Why on earth do we not have testing centres in Japan?

Because several million people would be found to have the virus, that's why. Mass testing is the last thing the government wants.

Vaccine passports, little yellow books denoting your typhoid, diptheria, yellow fever and other jabs, used to be a thing when travelling broad so I'm not sure why commentaters are finding them contentious.

Do you really believe that people like Boris have your best interests in mind?

It's for reasons that Hakman stated:

Now that you've brought it up: Sorry, but I don't subscribe to your idea that it's okay to discriminate against people who choose not to have a chemical injected into their bodies on account of a virus with at least a 99.7% survival rate.

For the vast majority of people who contract COVID, their natural immune systems handle it just fine.

I'm not an anti-vaxxer. But I don't believe, as you seem to, that those who make a rational benefits-versus-risks decision to not get vaccinated should be treated like second-class citizens at least, and like lepers at worst.

Viruses don't care about our privacy. Until most of the traveling world is vaccinated, there needs to be a way to limit risks for travelers AND the places they travel into.

What is a realistic way to limit that without blocking all travel besides having some sort of govt verification of vaccination pre-travel?

At some point, we'll probably have COVID vaccines as part of childhood disease vaccination - just like polio, mumps, measles, chickenpox, tetanus shots are today. The default will be for everyone to be vaccinated, ensuring herd protection, at least in the developed world.

"Science". lol People tout "science" about a vaccination process that has been completely structured COUNTER to ALL pre-existing scientific methods and cautionary procedures. Ask yourself, how long did it take to approve all vaccines for human use prior to these brand-new, RNA-morphing shots? Months? Years? Decades? Did those vaccines actually force alterations to the patient's RNA, or no? Were they rushed into market in spite of limited trials and clear cases of side-effects being pushed under the rug?

Suddenly, "the science crowd" says, "Nah, you don't need years of clinical testing, just get the shot, or you're anti-science"! "Forget about the blood clots, forget about the fact that there are more than 20 different formulas now being touted around the world, all with various "scientific" processes rushed if not skipped through in order to satisfy local political expediencies? Just get dosed against a sickness that 99,7% don't die from, the AVERAGE age of those who do die is more than two decades OLDER than humanity's normal everyday life expectancy age, and where perhaps as many as 30% of the population carries latently with zero symptoms/problems...or else you're "anti-science"! "Don't think! Do it!!" We're talking "science" here, after all!

Forget that, until just a few weeks ago, anyone on social media claiming, with connected scientists on record supporting their claims, that this health catastrophe just might be sourced back to a Wuhan bio-research lab with a documented history of weaponizing similar SARS viruses coupled with lax safety procedures, sponsored with Western funding. Those people would be branded "anti-science conspiracy theorists" and blocked from posting on their accounts.

(Now poof! "Science" hero Fauci admits that Yes, contrary to previous false claims, the West WAS funding the Wuhan lab, and Biden admits Yes, there might be enough to the lab claims that warrant further official investigation, but look! All the supposed "science" lovers flip, overnight, from one "science-backed" narrative to the next without batting an eye!?)

Forgive me, but your highly politicized, slipshod and peer-pressure/conformist-heavy brand of "science" sounds a lot closer to Soviet-era Lysenko-style politico-driven phony "science" than anything I would call a truly scientific process!

Nations can require foreigners to have vaccine cards

And if each nation requires foreigners to have Covid-19 vaccine cards, then essentially people can only travel abroad with one

That'd be too bad for people who live in places that don't give out cards

Nations can require foreigners to have vaccine cards

Nations absolutely should be careful about who they allow into their country. Requiring proof of vaccination for an international visitor is a prudent and not unheard of safety measure. That’s why it is so troubling that biden has been allowing illegal aliens into the US without proof of vaccination - then flying and busing them throughout the country without testing or vaccinating them. Britain is lucky to have a leader with common sense running their government.

That is correct. WIthout border control, you do not have a country, you just have a territory.

Requiring proof of vaccination for an international visitor is a prudent and not unheard of safety measure.

That is a giant leap towards population control. Vaccination requirements should be reserved for specific, extremely dangerous situations. Forcing entire populations to get injected under threat of discrimination is a big step in the wrong direction.

A global pandemic more than qualifies for what you term "specific extremely dangerous situations". But you know I use to have to carry a Yellow Card for foreign travel to certain places because those nations required proof the traveler had specific vaccinations. I had to show I was using as specific anti-malaria drug to hold a job in Papua New Guinea, a drug that sometimes has well known serious side effects. Sovereign nations are not obliged to let foreign travelers enter. You meet their terms or stay home. How hard is that to understand? The Navy required all of us to be vaccinated against a host of tropical diseases and there was no choice about it. Refuse and you would be punished (restriction, reduction in rate, forfeiture of pay, etc). The Yellow Fever vaccination was especially rough. You would see a grown man get injected, and afterward take a few steps then their knees would buckle. I get so tired of whiners refusing to be vaccinated when that is literally the only way to stop this pandemic.

If you live in Florida (aka Paradise), there isn't any need to leave.

But if you want to visit countries like Japan
