The UN is a useless, bloated, corrupt den of third world tyrants and globalists. All fronted by China.

Check out their Human Rights council members. They count among its members Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Bahrain, Eritrea, and Somalia.

The sooner western democracies leave it the better.

The polarization at the moment seems to be between the ubiquitous adherants to the new cultish religion of Wokeness, and those who seek to avoid them.

Doubtlessly, we are in an extremely polarized world: rich - poor, black - white, north - south, oppressor - oppressed, privileged - destitute, ..

Situation is worsening by the day, in fact, things will get much worse before it could even start to get any slightly better. Not that I am pessimistic, just that the facts do not allow me to be optimistic in any way.

or it could be the same old failed states have an innate cultural flaw that sees them elect corrupt tyrants and socialist dictators decade after decade...

An awful, corrupt, malignant institution that needs to go the way of its infernal predecessor, the League of Nations.

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

one side has been finally exposed, after that all hell broke loose.

one side wants unity, law, equality, ultimate freedom and peace.

one side wants power, control over people's lives, and everything has to be the way they want or else.

How you downvote/upvote this depends on which side you are and which sides you know I am talking about.

Britain objecting to China trying to insert “win-win.”

"Win-win:" exclusive preserve of the oven-ready deal.

I’m sure that’s part of it, but it’s also worth remembering that more powerful countries have also had a hand in overthrowing more ‘liberal’ regimes and installing and backing up all kinds of despots.

The UN setup is clearly outdated. That five nations are somehow better than the rest and get not only a permanent place on the Security Council, they also get a veto on every item voted on. Outrageous in today's world. There should be no permanent members of the security council and the 15 temporary members who are in it for a couple of years go into a draw for a 12 month veto. That's if there are even any veto's at all.

Time for a serious revamp or a new organization built from scratch that does not favor any small group of nation's over all others. The larger nations have to remember that all nations need to be treated as equals if humanity is to get anywhere and to save our world. Anything less is unacceptable.

Exactly.

The World faces a deeply polarized U.N., at 75.

Fixed it.

in very few cases and not for a very long time.

Notice how the only people complaining about the UN are from a single political party in a single country in the world?

I'm not sure why they think the rest of us would be as stupid as the people in their echo chamber.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Imagine assuming everyone who disagrees with you is an American Republican.

Then imagine saying their arguments are all wrong without explaining why!

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Time for the free and fair democracies to start a rival to the UN, and pull out entirely from the UN within 5 years. The UN is toothless and anti-democratic and has achieved nothing. Totalitarian communist nations who are full members can get away with anything, including mass genocide (China) and invasion of sovereign states (Russia, China) with NO penalties.

A "Democratic Nations" (DN) should be set up, and be based in Washington. The requirement would be that the members MUST be democratic, free and fair, and vote unanimously to admit new members. Obviously that means no China, Russia, Cuba, North Korea and all their puppet nations/allies.

Taiwan can be the first yearly rotating Chair of the DN.

The U.N. Is a corrupt bunch of socialist morons trying to control the rest of the world for their own gains.

It has no relevance in the real world and is not being used for what it was created for !

Time to dismantle it and take those corrupt few who head it to task !

And their camp-followers from the far-right in a handful of other countries, too. The UN is far from perfect but it's the best we've got right now.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Abandon the UN and set up a new international organization that requires its members be democratic in order to join. The UN is as corrupt as the majority of its members. Why does first world nations fund a third world cesspool like the UN?

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Totalitarian communist nations who are full members can get away with anything, including mass genocide (China) and invasion of sovereign states (Russia, China) with NO penalties.

But the US invasion of Iraq was OK because they're the good guys?

Hi Alfie, after noticing that you and the usual suspects call out people for "living in an echo chamber", I also noticed you live in an echo chamber.

Then I noticed, like the other usual suspects, you offered no counter argument. Only a mealy-mouthed "its the best we got"

And their camp-followers from the far-right

They're not all camp.

Hilariously Incorrect and narrow minded assumption.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

The UN is a joke. Unless it is backed by the US military and persuasive dollar it has no influence or power. However, the current UN don't want to play by Trump's policies so let the UN fester in the wilderness and dark oblivion like woke movies searching for an audience to justify their budget!

More a case of knowing exactly who follows the rightwing hymn sheet to the letter. Boringly predictable.

The usual suspects are here.

Imagine assuming everyone who disagrees with you is an American Republican.

I didn’t. I pointed out the only people whining about the UN are from a single party in a single country.

It’s interesting you went right to “American Republican”. But I guess when the shoe fits...

Then imagine saying their arguments are all wrong without explaining why!

When you only have a single political party from a single nation making the criticisms, it’s clear that their reasoning is entirely political rather than based on logic. It’s up to them to try to show otherwise. They haven’t done that.

Yea, like the unilateral invasion of Iraq by America, based on lies, for which they received “NO penalty”.

Maybe we just need to kick the USA out of the UN. They’ve clearly caused more destruction upon the earth penalty free than any other country.

Not every critic of the UN is a republican American, Sheesh , many people outside the U.S. and outside the republican party detest the grubby behaviour of the U.N. and its socialist agenda.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Not every critic of the UN is a republican American

Only 99.999999% of them.

many people outside the U.S. and outside the republican party detest the grubby behaviour of the U.N. and its socialist agenda.

Only the 0.00000001% of the world population outside American Republicans who believe Trump's gibberish.

Let's not try to pretend any other group in the world has a problem with the UN. It's only the Republicans in America.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I have a problem that UN is...

You're an individual. As I said:

"*Let's not try to pretend any other group in the world has a problem with the UN. It's only the Republicans in America.*"

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

To be fair, it was a bit rhetorical. But there are no reputable groups in the world calling for the abolishment of the UN.

The call of the right to abolish the UN is equivalent to, and as ridiculous as, the call to abolish the police in America. Americans seem hellbent on getting rid of establishments that, while they have their issues, serve humanity much better than not participating in them.

It's only through communication and discourse that we advance as a species. Otherwise we devolve into factions and war.

Got a citation for this made up statistic ?
