The American Civil Liberties Union expressed concern about invoking the exception. Executive Director Anthony Romero said the exception applies only when there is a continued threat to public safety and is “not an open-ended exception” to the Miranda rule.

The federal public defender’s office in Massachusetts said it has agreed to represent Tsarnaev once he is charged. Miriam Conrad, public defender for Massachusetts, said he should have a lawyer appointed as soon as possible because there are “serious issues regarding possible interrogation."

This vigilance towards the rights of an accused criminal is what makes the ideals of the US justice system second to none in the world.

I know people want to say that people like this won't "win", but in all reality, with the massive press coverage, I'm thinking that that's exactly how they win. If they had little to no chance of much coverage I'm betting this doesn't happen.

Maybe the Boston Marathon runner's and mostly spectator's injuries are worse. Some lost their legs. ===> No one win's like this.

I'm glad they got him alive. I am extremely interested to know his motives, as is everybody else. Let's hope they were the only ones involved and this is the end of it.

The media keeps pushing this "Chechnya" connection, but it is a rather weak one physically. =Maybe the parents at one time lived in Chechnya (maybe).

With a comment like that, you more or less answer the question yourself.

It's definitely important to get him alive. Both of this guy and his dead brother are too young, personally I really believe someone or some orignizations were behind them!

I am bored in hearing about him. I really have nothing more that I need to know, including the alleged reason. I think a new blackout about him and limiting it to when he goes to trial, the verdict and then punishment is all we need and it would hurt his little ego if he spent time in jail waiting for his trial with no newspaper coverage. I am tired of the media making it all about him and his brother. They are not worth the newsprint and the air time. But this is how the new media makes its profits , by sensationalizing the story dragging it out as long as possible.

By the way nothing difficult about making bombs. A friend of mine was doing that by the time he was 14, and he knew a great variety of ways to make things go bang back the in the early 1950s, including making one dirty bomb with radioactive isotopes. No great smarts are required.

Not exactly a wise statement to post on a site monitored by the alphabet soup agencies.

SuperLib, because of the coverage, he will go down for some from the long list of crimes he's done from before the bombing to after. People will want justice and there is enough proof. Used as a tool or not, he could have stopped at any moment of his own free will.

And as badsey3, pointed out. No one wins but at least it will prevent and deter this from happening again in the near future.

Main things that the FBI wants to find out from him include whatever info they can get from him about him and his brothers connections. I do feel sorry for their parents to an extent as they're in extreme denial about "my child wouldn't do something like that!!!"

Once again the cult of Islam destroys more lives. If the base morals of Islam were so stable to begin with, it wouldn't be so easy for so many muslims to become "radicalized" in the first place.

I don't get this:

If relatives were interviewed I'm guessing the uncle was part of the interviews. If he felt strongly enough about something that he refused to talk to his nephew anymore, that might be a sign that something is up. Or maybe he was just put off by religious comments or stuff like that, we don't know, but it seems that question should be asked.
