They brought this on themselves. They've been burying these incidents for decades instead of facing them. Had they just dealt with each incident accordingly, the program wouldn't be where it is today and its reputation wouldn't be in tatters. There are only so many bones you can bury in one plot before the ground starts to rise.

What is it with humans (mostly male) taking advantage of young people in the worst ways? Another large group of sickos who end up destroying another institution that is supposed to help people be better people. The list just goes on and on: Catholic church, orphanages, institutes for the physically or mentally disabled, other Churches, cults, psychiatric hospitals, other medical organizations..........These abusers are a disgrace to the human race. Is it just because they think they can get away with it because the young don't know what to do? Makes the blood boil.

Well part of the problem is that this is a predominantly gay or bisexual male issue and no one in those two communities are willing to take on this scourge due to political correctness. No one wants to admit the gay community has a predator problem for fear of stigmatizing all gay men. That isn’t helping to protect boys from having their lives ruined forever.

If this were a gay-specific problem there would be no heterosexual sexual predators.

I was a scout at my first boarding school for a while. Possibly it was even compulsory, I do not recall. Most of us were just becoming interested in girls, and I was not aware of any of the alleged stuff above. The Headmaster was interested in fiddling with boys, we all knew that, so if anything had been going on we surely would have known.

I never really got off on the whole scout experience, but maybe I was an exception. (?)

This statement just about sums it up for me. The organization formerly known as The Boy Scouts - now The Scouts - is too corrupted to go on in its current form. It should be dissolved and it’s assets used to pay for the crimes of the men that abused so many boys.

In modern America an organization like The Boy Scouts is an anachronism. Society is no longer able to agree on what a boy is much less support a group to provide for their care and proper upbringing.

Do they still exist? I thought they were now just "the scouts", brought down by political correctness.

If hope as many as possible use political judo, identify themselves as girls, and join the girl scouts now. What goes around comes around...
