Why focus on the Brazilian man while a Frenchman in fact disarmed (made lost the knife) ?

Why the title isn't about immigrants did the job of preventing more bloodshed which would have been nicer and the reality ?

The protest is against immigrants, and I'm an immigrant myself and I was the one to help out,"

The difference is that he is a immigrant of the good ones..

The bad ones must be deported..

Caio Benicio GoFundMe over €100,000 has been raised for him.

Authorities say that unconfirmed reports circulating on social media that the stabbings were carried out by an "illegal immigrant" ultimately sparked the disorder, which saw vehicles burned and stores looted.

Novel idea: How about confirming the reports either one way or the other?

Caio Benicio, who works for the Deliveroo takeaway app, used his motorcycle helmet to stop the unnamed suspect as he allegedly stabbed three children and a woman.

That lone “woman”, care worker, a reported nursery assistant, stepped in front and wrestled this knife wielding maniac, protecting the group of terrified children, this heroine suffering serious injuries, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

This ladies selfless initial actions, bravery, brought time preventing a even greater catastrophe.

That would be completely out of character for the far right. Witness this:

It was a suggestion for the media.

The tragedy, the headlines, is such a violent criminal act should be perpetrated on a small all Irish school (Gaelscoil) in Dublin City centre on venerable children and their teacher.

The aftermath, a riot, provokes serious political questions that still remain unanswered.

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has made a series of public media statements that reflect a conscious decision to keep the details of the alleged suspect, assailant, completely restricted from the publics right to scrutiny.

I am referring to any reference to the suspects nationality, or any relevant information on actions into how such a heinous act could have been prevented. Whether, for instance reports of a history of mental illness went unchallenged.

If such speculation was completely unfounded, then a clear public statement protecting the suspect identity, at the same time dispelling social media speculation, also announcing a full public inquiry into the circumstances surrounding how or if the suspect criminal mental history was known to the courts authorities.

Would telling the public that the suspect was a naturalized Irish citizen who immigrated from Algeria have thus somehow justified the barbarities of the rioters?

At least he acted in the best manner about it and he's not basking in the limelight being a narcissistic jerk about it.

trump needs to shut up and learn from this case. Most immigrants are just fleeing a bad scene and want to live a better life in peace. And this fellow is a vivid and clear example.

What happened to the assailant?

Benicio reiterated Saturday that the riot by around 500 people, who authorities have said were encouraged by far-right agitators, "makes no sense".

> "The protest is against immigrants, and I'm an immigrant myself and I was the one to help out," he added. "Anyway, I think it was a small group of people (responsible) that they don't even know what they're doing, fighting for."

In some of these places, they make big deals out of whether you are an immigrant, illegal immigrant, whatever. Some groups are always looking to scapegoat an entire population of others. Cheer the one guy but riot (without any real proof) against the exact thing he happens to be and overlook the fact that it's an isolated incident and most of the crime in the country is committed by the natives.

There is no justification for the looting/rioting/extremist violent running battles with the police, the intimidation of shop workers, the senseless wonton torching of the transport network, rampaging anarchy.

It is the underlining, misplaced belief of social economic injustices that creates the spark that ignites the mayhem witnessed in Dublin.

The discontent/disenfranchisement in society, the cost-of-living crisis the struggles brought on by aa ongoing housing crisis.

There is a danger that communities will erupt, the spark, a senseless stabbing assault of a teacher and her children, could have lit a tinder box of angst and anger.

Social media assisted right wing groups that drove the rioting will be held accountable. Harshly, and rightly so.

Let be clear the only official statement is that the suspect is in his fifties.

I am suggesting that politicians failed to fully brief the public/media in a manner that could have defused the misinformation fueling fanning amplifying belligerence directed toward immigrants.

Unless honesty and openness, however provocative the subject matter, societies reaction will become ever more unpredictable, in this case how a country/state manages immigration in all it forms

That is just a humble opinion nothing more, certainly not a sermon for Sunday
