As asylum seekers, being resettled in PNG would be a step in the right direction. Great diving, plenty of tropical fruit.

Papua New Guinea - the new dumping ground for Australia!

The behaviour of some of these people is the reason why they are not wanted in Australia, breaking furniture to make weapons, rioting, using violence failing to comply with societies rules, why would any country want these dysfunctional beings?

The United Nations ( which is full of corrupt left wing nutters ) should be more involved with the governments of where these people originally come from so they wouldn't be so desperate to want to immigrate.

They are seeking asylum because their own country has major issues that need to be sorted instead the UN expects other nations to take the problems.

Mass amounts of people seeking asylum is proof that either the UN's policies aren't working or it isn't doing it's job effectively. It's a symptom of the policies of this corrupt organisation.

Can never tell what the real story is but from this it seems they want asylum but also want to choose which country gives it to them. Shouldn't they be happy to get asylum in any country better than their own? Or am I missing some thing here?

Australia refugee settlement program is generous for refugee for get ting the free meals, accommodation and free tuition for pursuing higher education.

The sad truth about pampered refugees have become criminals. When they have been settled in community, they assaulted and raped the girls. Australia has become the rapists paradise because of the friendly asylum seekers policy.

In my opinion, Au should deport them back if they have committed crimes. They are ungrateful for welcoming nation.

Genuine refugee who wants to resettle in third country and then they should not break the rule of where they current live. If they broke the rule of current host country law and then other host countries are not willing to risk for their citizens.

I'm a bit confusing about illegal boat asylum seekers between Media and Australia Government because they made headline about refugees drowning at the sea. They blamed former Labor Government for not able to stop boats coming from Indonesia to Australia. Now illegal asylum boats coming to Australia is almost stop but Medias are still attacking Australia Government for not revealing detail about its Operation Sovereign Borders. It seems to be Medias are not interesting reducing peoples drawn at sea and they only want news from Government. Coalition Government's border protection policy is working and Medias must let Government to implement its policy successful.

There are many criminals in asylum seekers from rapist to war criminals. Former Labor Government had released ten of thousands of asylum seekers into community during their time in office. Some of asylum seekers are already committed rape and other crimes in Australia even they can not wait for their asylum processing. Australian Government is doing to protect its citizens.

I believe asylum seekers who make trouble are genuine refugee. That's why they don't care about future refugee processing for their application out come. They should deport straightaway to their country.

I would have thought that a country well known for its past generations of convicts would know well how to take care of a few more miscreants?

Australia does it's fair share of resettlement of refugees compared to other rich Asia-Pacific nations, and is continuing to do so at the number of around 15,000-20,000 per year. This is on top of 170,000 or so permanent migrants per year. It is the queue-jumpers - the ones who have paid passage to smugglers up to US $10,000 - Australia is attempting to prevent. I hope things settle down in PNG.

What about PNG and it's people, what of their protection ? how dare Australia rich and resourced brow beat them into being the solution for their problems, A Black nation could never do this to any White country. Australia continues to act in an very bad way to the indigenous of the land. Both counts should receive serious international attention.

No offense to the bleeding hearts, but the refugees brought it on themselves. When reason is overcome by ignorant violence nothing good results. Those refugees may have been incensed by the recalcitrant reaction they got from the authorities of the country that was putting them up (and putting up with them) but they took a step over the line and will now, because of that stupidity suffer longer. Their leaders are the ones who should be shipped back to where they came from.
