we hope he and his regime can leave Libya as soon as possible,” Abdul-Jalil said in Italy.

Isn't it being demanded that Gaddafi leave Libya? Okay, and go where? Until he is given a place to go, asking him to leave Libya makes about as much sense as asking him to leave the planet Earth! They did the same with Saddam.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Britain would not arm the opposition or assist in military operations

Wonder who they think they are fooling!

I wouldn't care if Britain helps the rebels. Got no problem with it at all. Not if they give em guns and ammo, nor military training. However if they step in to fight the war for them, I'd say thats crossing a line that shouldn't be crossed.

Haha! What if the rebels they're training don't have weapons? Are they going to get them going "BANG, ra-ta-tat, BOOM, neheheheheheheheheheh"?

Just get Gaddafi assassinated and be done with it.

Well, I certainly hope they teach the British Army's Self-Defence Against Attacks by Fresh Fruit (and Pointed Sticks):

(Cleese): Pointed stick? Oh, oh, oh. We want to learn how to defend ourselves against pointed sticks, do we? Getting all high and mighty, eh? Fresh fruit not good enough for you eh? Well I'll tell you something my lad. When you're walking home tonight and some homicidal maniac comes after you with a bunch of loganberries, don't come crying to me! Now, the passion fruit. When your assailant lunges at you with a passion fruit...

What complete lunacy. How would the UK government feel if Gaddafi send military advisors to help the IRA???

WilliB,

Gaddafi may not have trained the IRA but he certainly helped arm them, so what goes around comes around in this case

I pretty much have to agree with Molenir. Train them and arm them, but they have to take back their own country.

Not only Britian but most of the world would have a problem with that. IRA is branded a terror org for a reason and Gaddafi too. Its only inconsistent if you think all are equal and principled when in fact they are not. That said, there was a time when supporting the IRA would have been better than supporting Britian, but times have changed.

Good luck with that, Britain. Let's hope the media stays on your side.

I plan to be in the UK mid-July. I am so looking forward to marching in a parade against this unjust and illegal war. I bet millions will march against these cowboys. Everyone knows it's just BP sending young boys off to die so people can fill their petrol-guzzlers back in the UK.
