Looking suspiciously like another Putin sanctioned hit on a spy gone awry.

No doubt it will be dismissed as nonsense by Russia and its online army...

Putin said on Russian TV he was going to kill all those who betrayed him.

Interesting timing with Russian elections (aka the re-appointment of Czar-wannabe Vlad) coming soon.

Inquiring minds, particularly those opposed to any form of authoritarianism and to each and every despot, wonder if Mr. Skripal might have had information that possibly could have portrayed Putin in a less than flattering light before the 'election'.

"They never forget. When I was at the KGB in the 1970s they were still chasing people who had betrayed them 30 years before.” http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/who-is-sergei-skripal-former-russian-spy-critical-condition-salisbury-a8241271.html

Though I have no doubt Russia (Yes, I know, ALL countries) still has formally trained spies all over the world, it has also been able to provide employment for many hundreds of Russians doing support work for Putin and his oligarchs. Even here in Japan?

Power harrassment? We get the message, Vlad.

(Support Putin, or die.)

Putin seems unable to control his thug tendencies. He just can't shake those KGB traits.

We don't have the full details yet, so can't even say it was a Russian Hit. Could have been anything ... Murder-Suicide pact or simply the Bad English food...(a restaurant "Zizzi" has been closed in connection to the incident)...

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

A muder-suicide pact - on a bench, on a High Street outside busy shops and restaurants? Unlikely. The police have not indicated that suicide is part of their inquiries.

Ex Russian spies in the UK seem to suffer from the chronic disease known as "death by Putin".

As do journalists investigating the Russian don. Or the opposition....

Putin said on Russian TV he was going to kill all those who betrayed him.

Really?

Sounds a bit blatant. To come out directly and say it. Normally, it's all denials and Kremlin refusing to comment.

Not that I don't doubt Putin's far reaching nefarious actions...

Yes, really. BBC News has been showing the clip all day.

Ok, I only get the morning bulletins and I can't find it online (so far) but I'll take your word for it. Cheers.

This makes interesting (if disturbing reading)

The Russian General Sergei Skripol, his 32 year old daughter and 10 others are in hospital. He was swapped for the Russian spy Anna Chapman and others.

Folks, we do not have the full information yet.

The Woman with him was his Daughter, they dined together at the same restaurant.

Other people from the same restaurant have been experiencing issues.

Nothing has been ruled out yet.

Don't jump to conclusions....

As a Nation, If you were trying to target an individual, why take out innocents and risk WAR since clearly, this would be an act of WAR were it to be proven as such...

Not surprised if it's, say, something like polonium. But you're correct, we don't have the full info yet.

Does look very suspicious all the same.

2 Police investigating were admitted to hospital and later released.

This whole affair is a very pointed and public message to would be Russian defectors.
