I bet they just mixed up some egg whites and mayonaise.

Is this a bad joke? Considering our successes with human cloning, I'm certainly glad they aren't using this "sperm" for anything other than research. I'd hate to be the mother of whatever resulted from this stuff.

Obvious joke potential aside, this would be a god-send, so to speak, to men who are infertile but who wish to have biological kids. Once again stem-cell work produces some amazing stuff.... or at least everyday stuff in an amazing way... errr....

I was wondering how long it would take women to figure out that you really do not need men. It really was just a matter of time.

these scientists were so certain they had produced artificial sperm that they released a video to prove it, alas they were unable to release a video focused sufficiently well to show the artificial sperm as anything other than a wriggling shapeless mass..given that focusing a camera has been possible for many decades, you really have to wonder why the footage released was so poor.The answer is probably that in focus it looked nothing like sperm..but out of focus at least could be 'interpreted' as possible sperm. Previous to this they had managed to produce similar material in mice and indeed had fertilized eggs implanted them and produced micelets..alas all these offspring died of unspecified 'health problems'.

figures it would be British guys to come up with the idea on how to make men irrelevant! Can't do it right so make us all suffer.......

the lead researcher is actually Iranian,who studied in Germany before moving to England to work,but to an innumerate i guess that might still figure.
